JARFOR

Hoc

Jarfor is a close-orbiting "hot Jupiter" hydrogen-helium gas giant with clouds of airborne silicate and deeper layers of sodium. In composition, it is extraordinarily similar to 51 Pegasi's planet Bellerophon (one of the first extrasolar planets discovered by humanity in the late 20th century).

Despite its great size, Jarfor is actually rather low-mass; the incredible heat of the star Hoc has caused its atmosphere to expand. In fact, Jarfor is so low-mass, it is tidally locked to Hoc. The temperature difference between the sunward "hot pole" and the dark side "cold pole" creates constant hurricane-force winds.

NEMATA

Hoc

Nemata is a terrestrial planet with a thick, hazy atmosphere of ammonia, methane, and a cocktail of other hydrocarbon gases. The surface is scorching hot, and mainly composed of nickel with deposits of iron.

With a density 1.4 times that of Earth, it is obvious that Nemata is rich with heavier elements. Mining in the system remained a pipe dream for years, however, as the the planet's lethal heat, high gravity, and nearby Terminus Systems' political instability made initial development particularly costly.

When the Reaper War destroyed access to the system’s Terminus connections, people in the Traverse found themselves with an opportunity to strike it rich on Nemata. It did not take long to form the Nematavas Mining Combine to exploit the planet's rich resources, and the company is presently the planet’s sole operator.

VIRMIRE

Hoc

Virmire is a lush frontier world, ideal for colonization by carbon-spaced species. Its vast seas and orbital position on the inner life zone have created a wide equatorial band of humid, tropical terrain. Unfortunately, until recently the political instability of the nearby Terminus Systems impeded colonization efforts - the high risk of raids by pirates and slavers made it an unappealing homestead.

Transients, refugees, and other sentients caught in the cluster during the Reaper War’s final moments didn't ask twice to settle the Hoc system’s lone garden world, accomplishing what Terminus and Citadel nations had failed to do over centuries. Most promising settlement sites on the equator and coastline are now dotted with permanently grounded spaceships, prefabricated shanty towns and basic factories.

Much to the colonists' surprise, the destroyed remains of an advanced facility have been found on the world. Radiocarbon dating has revealed that the site was hit with nuclear weapons in the past decade, raising many questions. The quarantine surrounding the site does not help to quell them.

CLOROPLON

Hoc

Cloroplon is a relatively small hydrogen-helium gas giant, with a haze of methane in the upper atmosphere.

In the final moments of the Reaper War, an He-3 skimmer named the MFS Katra Morara was fleeing corewards from the galactic rim when the relays were disabled. Once the initial shock wave had passed, Hoc’s population realized that the vessel was the only one of its kind in the system. Today, the ship is a permanent fixture in orbit around Cloroplon, serving Virmire's ships with fuel, as the Katra Morara Company orders additional equipment to expand their operations.

PRESCYLA

Hoc

Prescyla is a terrestrial world so small that it cannot retain even a trace atmosphere. The surface is frozen, composed of magnesium silicates with carbonaceous deposits.

In the recent past, a pirate band from the Terminus Systems carved a message into the surface using ship-based laser weapons. In hundred-meter-wide batarian syllabic, the message proclaims the military prowess and virility of one "Captain Zaysh". A smaller postscript alludes to the questionable parentage of all humans.
