Ad'Thoro Pact Begins Massive Blood Drive
As the Reaper War’s second anniversary approaches in the ATP-Standard Calendar, the Pact is gearing up for the second annual Reaper Memorial Blood Drive across the Nemean Abyss, the Terminus and its own consulates in council space. Dozens of Automated Blood Collection Drones (DDG Drones) have been brought to the consulates of ATP member nations on the Citadel, and medical professionals have been brought in from the Terminus in order to handle the expected influx of blood donors when the day arrives. In the Nemean Abyss this year, the Drive will expand its operations to include Thorana, a mark of the rising safety of the Theocracy's former capitol. Sultanate officials have promised to make the safety of the drive their highest priority. Captain Fatima Khan of the Sultanate's Jannissaries has claimed that the drive will be 'completely safe' and that she thinks that the galaxy as a whole will be 'pleasantly surprised by what happens on the day'. Despite this, many claim that it is too soon to expand the drive to the Abyss, and are insistent that this move will only end in tragedy. Already conspiracy theorists across the galaxy are claiming that the blood drive is a calamity waiting to happen. Some claim that it is a terminus plot to distribute nanoplague and surveillance nanotech to C-Space citizens. Others claim that groups like Sovereign Nation and the Hierophant's Children plan to use the drives as a target for massive terror attacks. Citadel officials are currently tolerating the drive, though a smaller, competing drive have been set up by The Gated Garden Movement, urging citizens not to associate with what they call Terminus Space 'Pirate States'. Conspiracy or no, this has "bad idea" written all over it. If I feel like donating blood (and seriously, don't we have cloning vats for this sort of thing?), I'll talk to whatever the local med center is.

Yeah. Uh-huh. Sure. Anybody got a map of collection centers on the Citadel so I can steer very, very clear of them?

I wasn't ware blood drives like this were even a big thing anymore. But then, there always are those that speak up against cloning and rather take donated organs and even blood. I've met an asari once who was arguing that cloned and eezo enriched blood could never be as sanitary as donated due to some religious believes.

Perhaps you have details that I don't that would explain the involvement of citadel officals? Did you read the article? There's a drive going on at the consulate in C-Space. The blood collected in the Abyss is not going to be distributed in C-Space. Blood will, as I noted, be distributed where it's collected. The blood being collected in the abyss and terminus (Where you've indicated you are based) will not be distributed in C-Space, it will be distributed in the Abyss and Terminus, in the systems it was collected in. Which would have been obvious if you considered the logistics of moving blood from the Abyss and Terminus to C-Space for even the briefest of moments. Honestly. The_Sarcastic_Salarian wrote:Yeah. Uh-huh. Sure. Anybody got a map of collection centers on the Citadel so I can steer very, very clear of them?
The sites are publicly available, googling the drive and 'sites in my area' should bring up the citadel collection centers. Why are you so distrusting of the blood drive, if I may ask? |

I...really don't see the problem here. I'd imagine the Citadel probably has strict regulations in place for drives like this, and we're talking about sovereign states, not some "charity organization" that popped out of nowhere asking for donations.

The danger of nanotech is really not to be neglected if it's coming from places I am not familiar with. So definietly no poking around in my veins for this. Eh its less and more than that you know? Like, blood isn't blood isn't blood. Synthblood's an emergency thing, you're usually only going to see it on battlefields or in a hospital/sickbay that's running low on everything else. It's not anything you'd want to pump in anyone (got a pretty nasty kick to it and you're body'll just junk it after you get some genuine red in you) if you had any other choice, more like "this guy literally doesn't have enough blood in his body to keep his organs functioning". It's nothing fancy, just raw oxygen carriers. Cloned blood's the usual fallback but it's not all that hard for the labs and banks that culture the batches to be struggling to meet demand, especially after, you know, a giant galactic war and during an ongoing reconstruction effort. Donations help take off some of the pressure and provide the centers with a few more cell lines for variance if they need them. Plus, fresh blood's got plenty of goodies in it like natural platelets and plasma. It's not a huge huge boost but it's enough that the person who gets it's going to notice and be back on their feet quicker. But yeah, any way you cut it it's not a bad thing and if it's the vetted medical officials of a sovereign nation(s) I don't really see what's got everyone on edge. Honestly, I'd probably donate if I got a chance (not in the area of any of the consulates before you ask). |

Aw, wuss! I have such a rare blood time I was asked to donate like three times during the war and twice in the post. Of course, that wasn't a drive a drive organized by gods know who. You know, I once heard there were times when people did things like this with genuine good intentions even if only for PR, and some of these events actually managed to remain uncorrupted long enough to actually benefit people as advertised. The person who told me this also informed me that these times were as few and far between as natural comet sightings over capital planets. On a completely unrelated note, I think I'm going to skip on donating blood while this drive is going on, and I'm going to spend the entire time of its duration and much time afterward worrying about what might be done with the blood I've already donated.
Common sense is an oxymoron. |

Man, and people call me paranoid. It's just some harmless blood collection, folks! Dang, loosen your sphincters or species equivalents. Everybody needs help. I'd donate myself, but I'm on Omega, and - well - blood donation has a different meaning around here, if you catch my drift.
