Sweet various gods of above and below, my place has been ransacked. It's an utter mess and I'm still not sure how much stuff has been taken. C-Sec is checking in on leads but I am less than hopeful of any success on their part. Not to malign them but there simply isn't much to go on. I was using a remote message relay to chat with a student and did some research at the archives before I came home. I was gone roughly four hours and came home to find the front door smashed in, nearby cameras disabled violently and my apartment trashed and with far less stuff in it. C-Sec was already on the scene, a neighbor had called to complain about the noise while I was away.
So far I have determined that they took at least two archaic weapons, my old pistol, a tapestry I had on the wall, pottery shards form ancient Rakhana and a small stash of credits. I'm sure more is missing but I haven't been able to check everything yet. It doesn't seem like they were trying to clean the place out, a lot of stuff is left over, so I guess it was a quick job? Who would even do this? And does anyone know of a fence on the Citadel? Preferably one who can work in antiquities? I may yet have a shot at recovering some of the artifacts. Oh and to add insult to the whole thing whoever did this changed the environmental controls to make this whole place feel like a swamp. In winter. |

Well... that sucks. It's probably unlikely (considering what was stolen) but I would check out some of the pawnshops (in particular the Platinum Chit in lower Tayseri if it is still there. Shady stuff is always going on in that place)
Been awhile since I've been to C-space though. So who knows. Though you'll be very lucky if you can get anything back. |

I know it's unlikely, they knew what to take really, most of the stolen stuff isn't tagged with a chip or anything. I guess my gun could be found, but it's easy to replace so small loss there. Pawnshops seems a good first stop, though I'm sure Citadel Security has already tried that.

That's very distressing, I'm sorry to hear that. Good fortune in recovering your property. I hope the environmental issue isn't proving too difficult to solve, at least?

No, resetting the temperature and so on was easy, it's hardly a health issue (raised on the Citadel, no Kepral's for me). In a few hours the place should be comfortable again. That was just an annoyance that leaves me baffled. And thank you, I expect I should recover something from Mr. Lowell's suggestion. Oh and don't worry, they didn't cart off the swords I promised to show you come Bliss. Instead they went for a couple of massive straight bladed things I had on the wall.

I shall keep an eye out for anything suspicious to cross my desk - Rakhanan artefacts tend to stand out, though it would be helpful to know the exact items looted and their origins.
In the meantime, I suggest speaking with this company. They specialise in tracking and authenticating looted antiquities, and the department has used them from time to time when we have suspect donors - or more recently, thieves from the aftermath of the war. They have managed to recover several items from our collection that were misplaced, and I am fairly certain they have helpful underground ties. And in addition to pawnshops, I would also like to add that extranet sites such as Bidnet, Turan's Shelves, and Listbay are havens for antiquities, stolen and legitimate. Bail o Dhia. May you never forget what is worth remembering, nor ever remember what is best forgotten. |

I already have standing watches on sites like that. After all not everything in my collection was something I personally recovered from digs. But thank you for the suggestion and offer of keeping an eye out. I will speak with the folk you have suggested.
Items looted (discounting credits, because really I doubt those will show up anywhere): 1 Tapestry, asari origin, dated roughly 2000 BCE, a traditional religious scene of the Goddess instructing the people in the way of art and science. Based on a much older original it was an intentional replica but it still quite old by it's own right. 2 straight bladed turian swords, dated 1125 CE, honor guard blades, large cross bars and primarily ceremonial in purpose. Each inscribed with a ten generation lineage of the owner. The full inscription can be found here. 1 collection, ancient Rakhana pottery shards, age unknown, at least five thousand years old. Fragments depict a scene of warfare between the gods over a cowering populace of Drell. 1 pre-Rachni Krogan hunting knife, single edged blade curved for skinning. Red leather wrap on handle, forged from a single piece of steel. 1 Earth Kite Shield, emblazoned with three lions on a red field, dated roughly 1100 CE, originating from the Crusade of Richard I of England. I think that's all the antiques that are missing. They left most of the gadgets I had laying around and luckily didn't think to really search the place. Gurab amhlaidh duit Triskele. And speaking as one archaeologist to another I think I need to find a better home for my personal collection. Or rather to make most of it not my personal collection any more. I would be more than happy to share with the museum you work for if they are interested at all in current cycle artifacts. On a personal note I do have one object that would have belonged to your ancestors stashed away as well. |

I am sorry to hear of your plight. Sometimes the violation of being robbed is worse than the lost objects. I hope you are able to recover them, and are able to regain a sense of security.

That's mighty generous of you Lieutenant, thank you. How can I repay you? I mean other than the assumed paying back credits as needed?
TripleTiptoe, you are quite right, I expect a more secure door will be in order, and perhaps some manner of securing my collection when I am not at home. I suppose I could cover everything in explosives, but ultimately I would rather be robbed of them than see the artifacts destroyed. The galaxy has lost enough of it's history to one calamity or another without my ego adding to it. |
Triskele |
I shall certainly keep my eyes and ears open. On a more professional note, I will be forwarding your interest in donating your collection to the appropriate parties - I would personally be unable to verify and appraise such a large selection of contemporary antiquities, as my specialisations lie quite a few millenia in the past, but there is certainly still much value in more recent findings.
And you have piqued my curiousity on this "ancestral" artefact. Please elaborate, thank you. May you never forget what is worth remembering, nor ever remember what is best forgotten. |

I swear sometimes I'm the only person that studies anything from after the Protheans. At any rate I do have one item that originated from the Gaels before the Roman arrival. It's just a small metal disc with a Triskele stamped onto it. If I am correct then it belonged at the very least to a group that you are descended from, though of course direct lineage will be impossible to confirm. I think it was a religious artifact of some sort. Would you be interested in having a look?

Crime on the Citadel, everywhere it seems. That's an awful thing to read, Mr. Hari!
I hope your belongings turn up again (along with the thiefs to serve their time!). It seems to me though the thing with the environment controls is soemthing personal. Maybe you could think of someone you pissed off recently, maybe over an artefact? |

If it is any consolation, I often feel the same with regards to studies prior to the Protheans - a shame that in the billions of years that form galactic history, only a recent, wee fraction makes up the majority of modern xenoarchaeology. But I digress. And yes, I would be rather interested in seeing the disc, if only for the novelty value - it has been a rather long time since I have had anything to do with my native country.
