In all shapes and sizes.
I have been playing with that idea for a while now, I finally have time and motivation to think about getting me one for real. I have been looking at a couple of designs but finally came to the conclusion I wanted to build something on my own, something with actual wheels, a hot piece of vibrating steel! I was tempted by a Firefly for a second or two. ![]() But that seems too conventional, you see so many of them. I always thought, humans had sense to design these things (Thanks Daia, for inspiring me there), so I looked up some of that. I think i may want to go along with something similar to this: ![]() The hardest part will be to get any parts or plans from what I see. Is anyone of you folk into bikes? Do you know any good sites where to start, especially when it comes to human machinery? (I am already checking LoneRyders forum) |

It isn't specific to motorcycles, but solpowered.net is a pretty great website if you're looking into human machinery. I believe there is a motorcycle section on the site, though, so I hope it can help you out.

Is there anything I can say that will convince you not to?
Well, if you're going to go human, consider one of the superheavy series, preferably one that uses magnetic rotors. They're generally easy to get rated for the same roads a proper asari model will be rated for, and they're relatively good for driver safety. |

I had a Tesla-Honda Flyfree Hoverbike when I was in my mid 20's. She was ruby red and had a electric engine that got me 4,000 miles to the charge. She could go from zero to eighty in less time than it takes to say 'Zero to eighty.' Maximum altitude was some 1,000 feet but I rarely took her off the road. Pyjak, thanks for the links! this looks quite amazing, like a two centuries old junkyard on the extranet! Exactly what I was looking for. Have you ever dealt with any of those vendors?
Lia, that site is very interesting. I even found something about boats that kept me distracted. Doctor Love wrote:Is there anything I can say that will convince you not to?
Why would you want to say such a thing?Nevos northern continent has endless coastal roads, ideal for a casual cruise to free your mind. And when you feel like it, you can just stop by a secluded bay and have a swim.... I should not get ahead of myself though! Doctor Love wrote: consider one of the superheavy series
That looks slick, I have to admit! But I am not that heavy myself, I'd rather have something smaller and more agile.Thank you all, for caring about my safety, safety is important! This little gem will get a custom fitted drive core of course, so none of those steam powered thingies. They look great though, I'll keep the housing I think. Feeling that wind in your hair was a thrill.
Sarah, while I do not have hair, I think we are on the same page here:)![]() Takamura Ampere series - ca. 2100 |

Hoverbikes and motorcycles alike are quite a great passion of mine. Even more so in the past.
I have always been very keep on the models of Lloyd motors, especially some of the previous models. My last one was an amphibious Road/Air Lloyd Flyer GTT 2.3. It served me very well. Had a very efficient Skycrosser-type hoverdrive, a kinetic windshield, haptic interface and a low range neuroreceiver for very basic controls. Great top speed and very smooth running. It was unfortunately lost during the war when reapers reached occupied Athens. It is a real shame I must say... I've had good memories from it. But I will never forget my first bike.. ![]() Isn't she a charm? I got her when I barely had come of age. She's a Lloyd LLA.03 I found her one day in my grandfather's garage in Dortmund. She was all rusty, with the energy conductors almost severed. That bike was old. One of the very first Lloyd models from the turn of the century! Me and my grandfather spent quite a bit of time working on her together. It helped us bond a lot too. Once we got her back up and running I got her. I cannot describe how happy I felt! That was when I fell in love with hoverbikes. Heh, that one consumed fuel like a monster. With a primitive early-22nd century power source and no eezo around it still relied on a thermal propulsion system to keep afloat just high enough to be able and drive on the Luftbahn. I didn't bother too much with the highways though. I took her for some amazing flyovers in the fields of Lower Saxony, Beyond the Rhine Megalopolis. Watching the sunset as you flew straight towards it over endless green fields was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. And the one I miss the most as well. Anyhow, I've had about 3 other models later in my life. Which ended up either badly damaged or... well. Lost to people. I wasn't the calmest of young men in university... I've almost lost my life due to a hoverdrive failiure on a Lloyd Icarus Mk.1 ![]() Yeah that's the one. It was amongst the first models with an eezo-powered hoverdrive to become available. Such a failiure shouldn't have been too surprising. Given how experimental the technology was back then. But that still did not stop my grandfather to take a rather... aggressive legal action against the entire Lloyd Conglomerate. rellying for the As for the present day, I am currently, without a bike. But that probably won't be for too long. I have been relying on the local rapid transit for my daily transportation but that's not enough. When my funds allow it I will most likely purchase a used Lloyd Flyer from '76. I have been keeping an eye that particular model for a while. ![]() It's just what I am looking for and not bad at all for its price. It's an older Lloyd Flyer of the Prima series. Angel-type hoverdive with an autonomy range of almost one thousand kilometers. Plexi windshield and touch/holography hybrid controls. Although I am very satisfied with the Terran manufactured crafts I've flown so far, I'd like to admit that I would love to test out some alien models. I hear that some salarian manufacturers use a very intricate controls system, with full neural integration. It sounds intriguing to say at least. ..and I think I've babbled enough. Walk on with hope in your heart, and you'll never walk alone. |

Why would you want to say such a thing? Motorcycles have an extremely high risk of serious injury in accident situations and a high risk of accidents resulting from relatively common degrees of user error. Safety measures being what they are, you're still exposing your own body to high speeds, hard roads and typicaly in a position to maximize the number of multiple high speed impacts incurred when you wipe out. Please.... just please don't risk your life trying to do some stupid maiden trick on it, ok? I worry. :( |

Well, I used to use junkland for OT, mech, and other assorted parts for the cheap. Though now I have access to a lot places that you can buy those for the cheap so I can usually salvage whatever I need so the site is a bit obsolete for me now. The other two sites? No. But they have a fairly positive reputation so I doubt they will screw you over (other than probably gouging the prices) |

^^ Don't get me wrong guys. I'm all out for fighters but...
Have you ever flown a larger ship? Namely a cruiser? I cannot compare anything to the feeling of pure power at the tips of your own talons. You can almost feel Anti-proton annihilation as the pilot seat vibrates with the entire ship. The slow hum of the drivecore as you jump to FTL, fusion torches blaring... Okay, give me a moment to snap out of it :P An old human saying says "Oh no not I, I will survive For as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive!" Very wise those humans were.<3 |

Well if you have to cheat by using engines, getting them down on the ground has its merits. Haven't you ever gotten into something at ground level and gone really fast? Something with an open top, and controls that aren't a holoboard, I mean. ;)Speaking of bikes, Eafina tells me she's got the chassis of her Rakhana wildlands model almost together - I'll make sure she invites you (Taleeze) around for the big unveiling, and the rest of you, we'll get pictures. |
