[Rannoch] The New Daestrom Academy opens its Doors.
Sontax Kuri'ik, Apien Press Portal. RANNOCH. Today marks a joyous and historical event for the quarian people as the first university on the planet opens after it's reclamation. Representatives of the Quarian Conclave as well as the Geth Collective were present at the grand opening of the newly-constructed campus, located just outside of the main settlement. In an emotional speech, Daestrom Project Administrator San'Daala vas Kontei addressed the gathered crowd. "This is the first product of true good-willed cooperation between the Geth and the Quarians. For centuries our people were deprived of access to the wisdom of their ancestors and their traditions. A millennia worth of knowledge survived in mere databanks, in the form of nothing more than cold digits. Our arts and traditions struggled to stay alive as we took care for the most basic of our needs. But now we can revive our cultural treasures. In the halls of this university, the legacy of our ancestors will finally be inherited by the new generation. Their knowledge brought back to life and passed down once more. The words of long lost languages shall be heard again in these halls and the arts and sciences will flourish!" A representative of the Collective, who asked to be identified as 'Shann' has also made a few statements "During the three centuries that spanned between the Morning War and The pressed day, both Creators and Geth have accumulated a large amount of new knowledge across proximately 61 distinct fields. To facilitate the compiled sum of all Creator/Geth information and ensure its proper storage and distribution, an academic educational environment was deemed necessary. Both practical and sentimental reasons were considered before this initiative" The Daestrom Acadamy was named after the Migrant Fleet ship, QMF Daestrom, a science ship whose archives kept an encyclopedic compendium of Rannoch's civilization alive to this very day and whose science labs helped in realising the leaps of advancement that quarian technology made over the past centuries. Though the campus is meant to accommodate only about a thousand students, many more applications have been received. The Conclave has reassured the public that expansion works are already underway and all applicants can soon be accepted. Presslink News Aggregator: Collecting headlines from across the galaxy. Hmm, I wonder if perhaps they can make room for applicants to extranet courses for non-quarians. Obviously not right now, but I think it would be a fine gesture for the university later on.

Today marks a start to healing the rift between our two peoples. I'm personally excited about seeing the University in full working order, my stepson was one of the great many that applied. It's only a matter of time before he gets in, but I'm hoping he's part of the first thousand. I'm very proud of him, and I'm hoping that this university helps him with his lack of direction. Finally home! |

Well, as I heard, they're already working out a few things with some off-world universities to offer a few extranet-based courses. I doubt the reverse would be true though, since there is a lack of teachers and whatnot and there wouldn't exactly much material to cover even if they did.
Though I do have the feeling the spokesperson may've gotten a tad overexcited and may've confused a university with a museum (Not saying the two are mutually exclusive however, since most are generally more concerned "Hard" fields |

It is very pleased that such a productive synthesis has taken place between the peoples of Rannoch! The opportunities for the others to contribute to the intellectual and spiritual growth of the Many Voices are myriad; this one hopes that further integration will soon follow! It wonders if the Academy will be accepting offworld pilgrims, for it is certain that many scholars will wish to gain access.

Genuine appreciation: Yet in spite of this, they survived. Eventually to reconnect with that wisdom and once again place firm paws upon their ancestral earth. Reflective: I have expressed my respect for the quarian people before. They continue to inspire me. Begrudging admission: In a time when so many of us are absent a sense of continuity, without a link to our past lives or an easy route to our place of origin, the quarians present a valuable lesson. Cautiously: The geth I am not sure on. |

Considering they already managed to put "Wisdom" and "Ancestors" in the same sentence, I'm pretty sure they washed it over already.

Clarification: quote/unquote "healing" implies restoration to point at/analogous to natural state. Garden Guard wrote:Considering they already managed to put "Wisdom" and "Ancestors" in the same sentence, I'm pretty sure they washed it over already. Unfortunate. |

Tonelessly: It is worth noting that extracting yourself from a situation of your own making can be more difficult than you anticipated. That is certainly true. Discarding problematic creations out of pre-emptive fear can lead to unforeseen consequences.
With conviction: There are many lessons to be taken from the history in question without threatening the current state of affairs, where quarian and geth have a beneficial relationship, through dwelling on the... unpleasantry. |

Honestly Xuumo I think it's crucial to study and explore the causes and results of the geth war. It is an unpleasant subject, and should be approached without trying to find guilty parties or with ideas of vengeance, but the geth probably won't be the last AI lifeform that emerge in the galaxy. We need to make sure the next occurrence will be handled better.

If you need intense study to do what common sense already dictates (Don't shoot your workforce), I'm pretty sure you don't have the ability to live in the galaxy anyway.

I think the point of academic work is to go into a slightly deeper in the matter. Leaving the Ducts offer a training, support and professional opportunities to all Citadel Orphans. We're based on Tayseri Wards, ask me information! Donations are much appreciated. |

...There's no need for an academic study. If you need an academic study to avoid a war which could be summed up as "Complete and utter incompetence" Odds are it wouldn't prevent it anyway. Some things are generally prevented by just acting calmly, and, not say, like the jackasses that got our race kicked off the homeworld.

That is great to hear. Congratulations to everyone on Rannoch.
Garden Guard, I don't think it should be dismissed or glossed over that easily. Scientific analysis by historians is a time consuming and sometimes painful process. But it is helpful to make the actual lesson that history is teaching stick with a people. To ensure the same errors are not repeated in generations to come there most be done more research and teaching than simple catchphrases. And I think, the geth may also learn a thing or two in the process, which is good for everybody. ![]() |

They won't, and they haven't been.. Because the galaxy is full of idiots that never learn. |

And I think, the geth may also learn a thing or two in the process, which is good for everybody. I'm pretty sure that losing around 90% of the species is a lesson enough to not repeat the same mistakes. I mean, if the near-collapse of an entire species is not enough to tell you not to do something, you're probably better off walking out the airlock. Though then again, I'm talking to a member of a species that has two heads stuck so far up their collective asses they can't even run a military effectively, so I'm not to surprised they'd need a third to hammer the point in. |
