HE'S ALIVE!

I'm going to keep this brief, because I can barely see my omni-tool, I'm crying so freaking much.

JOE IS ALIVE.

He was my best friend from before the war and had joined the Alliance after Earth fell. He was MIA, assumed dead, and that was that. But this morning, I get a call from a hospital on Earth asking for me.

Apparently they had been trying to find some relation or just anyone who knew Joe, and had been working through what remained of his contact list on his omni-tool, came to my name, was redirected several times by C-Sec, before finally being given my name and

HOLY SHRELL HE IS ALIVE. I, just, Shrell.

I just, I don't know. It's like, I mourned him and moved on but now, I get the message and... How do I even explain it? It's like coming back from the dead myself. Like, I didn't even realize until now how much not like me I had been, how important Joe was to what made me Jeral. But then I hear this and it's just like waking up from something... I don't even know, but I'm so happy right now.

As for how he is, I don't know entirely. From what the doctors told me, he is healthy and conscious, but mostly unresponsive. I don't know what to think about that, but I guess I'll see for myself. I've already booked a shuttle down to Earth to go and talk to the doctors and (hopefully) see Joe for myself.

You sound like you had more than just a friendship going for your friend there

On the contrary - sometimes there is no deeper relationship than one between friends.
I've seen platonic friendships stronger than the bond between parent and child, siblings or lovers; a pair of salarians who have been friends for two years can often be closer than two asari bonded for centuries.
