Currently out of rotation of active postings, stuck on Earth for now alternating between "doing whatever needs doing" ordering about the reconstruction efforts in West London, or sorting out a fine backlog of red tape.
I'm not sure which I hate more. I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand: Till we have rebuilt Jerusalem, In Earth's green & pleasant lands. |
Silver Future Raelon Pasharan Sundowner Shaman |
That's a big question, Cerastes.
Um...well, let's start with I'm s'posed to lead the clan in rituals an' stuff, like weddings an' finerals, an' it's my job to keep the shrines an' altars clean and tidy and supplied with incense. So you can say it's a ceremonial position. But there's also a tie to culture there, because the ceremonies exist for reasons, and so another part of my job is explaining what those reasons are, why we do the stuff we do. An' then that leads into the big questions, like why we do anything, or what's right and what's wrong, or how to live in partnership with the spirits, philosophy and how it applies to daily life type stuff, and so then I end up bein' a kind of counsellor, a confidante, a mentor. And I can't counsel anyone if I don't figure out how to live in partnership with the spirits my own self so then you get into the meditation, the dream work, the shamanic journeying, that kind of thing. I seen a couple kids show up thinkin' it'd be cool to be a shaman an' eat weird fungus and creep out their friends with their freaky powers and each time one look at my face sent 'em runnin' screamin'. Job costs. In manus tuas commendo spiritum meum. |
