The learned charity worker returned to the room just prior to the final countdown. To Laykalar's surprise, she came in close and pressed her mouthparts against his bell. Such a ritual greeting had many purposes, though he wasn't well-read enough on the topic to comprehend precisely what this particular example meant. Not wishing to appear ignorant, he took it in stride, assuming it was likely part of the humans' new year ritual.
He pulsed to the room: "This one wishes all gathered here tonight a pleasant and productive new year!" He then restricted his luminescence to allow a more private exchange with Michelle Rondor. "This one is particularly appreciative of making the learned other's acquaintance. If the learned other should require the services of this one's community in any future endeavour, please contact this one with haste". He probably shouldn't have promised that. Then again, he reasoned happily, if the elders had wanted to represent themselves here they could have. It was up to him to speak on their behalf, and the willingness to offer assistance was a key Enkindler virtue. A very junior part of the group he may be, but he was a part of it nonetheless. In high spirits, he leaned over and nudged his bell against the person to his left, passing the ritual kiss on to the next worthy partygoer. |

Sarah was opening her mouth to talk when she was spun around to the sound of the fanfare outside, arms pulling her in and lips pressed against hers.
She swayed away after a brief moment, her mood brightened considerably- her mind once again drawing a blank for Mr. Redford, her current thoughts rather preoccupied. "Mr. Redford, You've caught me at an inopportune time. We have much to discuss- but I believe-" She'd fumble her words, activating her OT. "Contact me here in about a week. I'm sorry for the inconveniensh." |
