Oh, such confusion. And all so eager to save their own skins that they'd willingly condemn one of their own to eternity in this simulation simply for being confused. AVINA's holographic form flickers about the chamber, unable to contain her obvious amusement as more and more people turn on the excessively polite hanar. They've earned a treat for this...

A screen appeared in the centre of the chamber, showing a bald, grizzled-looking man in Blue Suns armour crouching behind a hunk of debris. He barks some commands at the rag-tag group surrounding him, a group of strangely faceless civilians clutching makeshift weapons, ordering them to get down before 'those fucking assholes' blast them, but the people don't comply. Instead, they advance on the commander.

"For fuck's sakes!" he yells, letting off another volley at the advancing Reaper forces. "I'm trying to save your fucking lives!"

The people don't listen, though. They just continue their silent advance, bearing down on the increasingly terrified Blue Suns officer, ignoring his screams as they tear him apart.

KahjeForEternity (Blue Suns Commander) has been lynched.

IT IS NOW NIGHT ONE. NIGHT ONE WILL END AT 14:00 GMT WEDNESDAY 27 FEBRUARY, OR WHEN ALL NIGHT ACTIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.

Addendum: Please be sure to state 'Unvote [Player Name]' (in bold, size 150) when changing your vote. It makes it so much easier to count votes accurately.

The remaining avatars flickered back into life in the 'morning', though truthfully it was hard to tell the time within their current prison. However, it was not so difficult to see that their little party was fewer in number - three more people had blinked out, their names displayed in red where they had once stood. The message was clear: they belonged to AVINA now. As those that remained glanced around suspiciously at their fellows, a series of images flashed across the central screen.

The remnants of a human marine in a pool of his own blood, barely recognisable save for the perfectly-preserved dog tags identifying him as one Reena Tayn.

A once-beautiful asari clad in the yellow and black armour of Eclipse, sprawled on the filthy ground of some tides-forsaken battlefield, most of her flesh gnawed away. Had anyone dared look close enough to see the name on her tags, they would recognise her as 'Hybrid'.

Finally, a horde of insects trampled into the mud, their ichor soaking the ground beneath their corpses. Each and every one was essentially identical, but simple process of elimination meant that this mound of crushed exoskeletons used to be Archmagus.

As the players stared, transfixed by the grisly scenes, AVINA flashed into life once more, a wicked grin on her lips and an even more deranged look in her eyes. "Morning, my dears," she cooed, her voice sugary sweet. "I do hope you're ready for another round."

Reena Tayn (Human Marine) was smashed into a bloody pulp by the Blood Pack Battlemaster and obliterated.

Hybrid (Eclipse Commando) was overwhelmed by a ravenous swarm.

Archmagus (Rachni Drone) was decimated.

One point I'd like to bring up today, if I could. By the time yesterday ended, I had completelyforgotten Proctor was playing.
So since ADHD asari started talking up yesterday, and it already here at least for now, my personal feelings are now leaning to Icarus and Proctor. Where were you guys Day 1?

Well okay then. Looking at what we have so far obviously we have four killers.

Given the flavor of the game and the people that fought against the the Reapers, I think it's safe to say we have at least one member of each of the big three. Kahje claimed the ability to kill, clearly the Blood Pack Battlemaster has that option as well. If s/he is on our side I just hope they managed scum tomorrow night.

"Obliterated" and "Decimated" sound pretty Reaperish to me, with "overwhelmed by a ravenous swarm" off the flavour but sounding nasty enough that I'm inclined to think serial killer.

So to start "LadyJo's habits of trying to play the odds" we have 9 players including myself. My guess of the breakdown:

2 Reapers, possibly a 3rd Drone without power because there is precedent for that
1 Serial Killer, POSSIBLY vigilante but with a flavor like that my first instinct is no
6 Sentients, 5 if there is a drone Reaper, at least one of which has a nightkill

That's the problem with small games, if we don't get a scum today and our presumed Battlemaster friend isn't lucky tonight we're likely sunk. I'll think on this after I'm back from work.

Huh, actually, with the flavors of kills and the names of the roles killed so far, I'm inclined to believe maybe this is a team death match with some town thrown in as collateral. Marine could have had a kill power, Suns Commander supposedly did, the Rachni probably have the 'overwhelmed by a ravenous horde' kill, the Eclipse commando certainly could have a kill power, and there's obviously Blood Pack who can kill even spelled that one out for us.

Perhaps before he died Magus took out Hybrid.

Not that it particularly matters to the current situation. But it's good to know perhaps we have multiple teams.

Now back to the point I'd like to drive home.

Vote J_Proctor

You said one thing and disappeared so effectively I forgot you were playing. This isn't your first time through, surely you could have been contributing something when the votes were bouncing back and forth yesterday. Come out of hiding now, if you would.

Well. This is....unfortunate. Jo is likely correct in her assessment of the remaining players, I would not be surprised if the town was barely outnumbering scum, if the latter was not the majority.

Proctor has been rather quiet, has she not? I mentioned previously that I had an odd gut feeling that she was likely scum, and that has yet to be resolved. I would not place a vote based off of such illogical reasons - there are a myriad of reasons for one to not speak up, as I demonstrated during the last day period - but I would be more than happy if she could perhaps be more talkative. Icarus, as well, would be a pleasure, I am sure, but I would also like a closer look at ProgrammingWithFire. Something about his posts concerns me, though I have yet to place a finger on exactly what. I intend on rereading the thread through a few more times before I decide on anything, and hopefully, there will be some other voices added by then to help.

May you never forget what is worth remembering, nor ever remember what is best forgotten.

It was the first day. You know what you learn on the first day? Jack and shit, and Jack's got a proctologist appointment. The last time I tried to contribute on the first day, I set off the Jokerpocalypse. So when you are quite finished, there is the slight issue of almost a quarter of the players being wiped out in one night to attend to.

Plebeians: commence your debate.

Hammerhead
I wouldn't actually vote on such an illogical thing either, the vote was more of a prod, the best we can use. Now, however, my vote's just staying based on her reaction.

So you learn jack shit the first day. That's a reason to not try to contribute? You'd, what? Have none of us talk at all for the first day just because 'we don't learn anything'? We learn people's posting habits. We get a feel for each of the players. No hard evidence, but enough to start inching our way towards knowing something. Frankly, your haughty and dismissive response pisses me off.

We plebeians should continue debating, huh? So you don't have to?

Icarus, you too.

I think that with the game starting at twelve or thirteen (I can't remember right now) players, it would be reasonable to assume the three reapers instead of two. It would give them less of a handicap of numbers alone... unless the GM gave the Reaper faction the ability to indoctrinate kinda like that one Reapers game with the elcor play.

Proctor, just because first day doesn't usually turn up stuff (and sometimes it does. I remember one game had a reaper drone killed first day) doesn't mean that using that time is pointless. At the very least it starts up the possibilities and gives everyone a chance to play. Trying to justify staying quiet like that is pretty suspicious.

Vote Proctor. Try a better defence.

So basically, "my original vote was spurious, but don't worry, this one is even more spurious".

Hammerhead wrote:So you learn jack shit the first day. That's a reason to not try to contribute? You'd, what? Have none of us talk at all for the first day just because 'we don't learn anything'?
Yes. Clearly my non-contribution was a conspiracy to frustrate the voice of the town.

Even I am not narcistic enough to suggest that the town would have been voiceless without my leadership. I simply stated that I had little to contribute on the first day, because - in my opinion - we never have sufficient information until after the first night. So especially after the vote became a ping-pong between Jo and Ash, and then a bandwagon on Kahje, I didn't bother chiming in. You know who else was pretty quiet on the first day? Everyone.

Hammerhead wrote:We plebeians should continue debating, huh? So you don't have to?
Here's how this works:

1) You posit an unsubstantiated theory with utter conviction (like now);
2) I swoop in and pick holes the size of Rhode Island in your theory (like now).

You tossed a vote at someone who was being quiet. Ideally, if you were scum, I would have stayed inactive and you would have scored an easy kill. But then after trying to lynch me for being quiet, you then try to lynch me for speaking up. I gave you exactly three lines in response, from you which you managed to insinuate a great deal of insidious intent. It is one thing to be aggressive, like Asharia; it is quite another to completely invent a justification for a lynch vote.

Simply put, you are trying too hard. Get thee to a reapery:

Epsilon wrote:Try a better defence.
So it would be less suspicious if I completely changed my story to simply avoid a lynch? Fine.

Sorry I was quiet on the first day, guys. I got hit by a freight train and spent the last five days having my pancreas painstakingly recreated like a jigsaw. I would have used my omni-tool, but Commander Shepard dropped by, and you can't deny that woman, can you? She's got a tongue like an electric eel.

Hammerhead
j_proctor wrote:"my original vote was spurious, but don't worry, this one is even more spurious".
No. My first vote was on a random quiet player, and your dismissive response is why it's staying there, instead of prodding another inactive player (all of them.) If you hadn't replied with a post that made it seem more like you didn't care about trying to figure out who's who, and that it was seemingly beneath you to even try to pitch in, I probably would have moved on to another inactive, just to get them involved.

j_proctor wrote:Yes. Clearly my non-contribution was a conspiracy to frustrate the voice of the town.
Doesn't have to be. Not being involved in any way is a detriment to the town. Whether you conspire to or not.

j_proctor babbled on: Even I am not narcistic enough to suggest that the town would have been voiceless without my leadership. Everyone.

So you couldn't have, I don't know, added input saying you thought differently? Or added information from something one of them said that maybe the rest of us didn't, that further confirmed things? Logic and paranoia are the tools of the game. Removing yourself from the process limits the rest of us.

I didn't invent anything. Your tone gave the 'insidious intent', lady. I tossed a vote at someone who was being quiet? You're damn right I did. To get you into the game. Silence isn't always indicative of scum but it's a tactic.

j_proctor wrote: Sorry I was quiet on the first day, guys. I got hit by a freight train and spent the last five days having my pancreas painstakingly recreated like a jigsaw. Again, tone. You just dismiss things like it's beneath you to even bother replying, and use sarcasm as a screen. That's why my vote stays where it is.

ProgrammingWithFire
Apparently not.

While Proctor's been a very effective scum in the past, there's nothing at the moment particularly damning about what she's said. Sure, she's a bit sharp, but it's not like that's anything new.

I'm a bit concerned about Scientific Pursuits and Icarus, mainly because they haven't said anything of substance (or anything at all) today, but, well, glass houses. I've always got a vague suspicion of Jeral, but that's more the metagaming reason of "I can never tell when he's scum" than anything he's done. Not voting for anyone at the moment because there aren't any particularly good reasons to after the targets that I can see.

Not much in the way of new ideas regarding what happened last night. I think Jo's got it about right with her estimations. I could see "Overrun by a ravenous swarm" as being either the Rachni or the Collectors, but seeing as we've got a very dead Rachni I'm inclined to believe it was the former.
Link Link Quote

Jeral the Improbable Here I am. Just being awesome.
Sorry I'm late on posting. I figured my next post would be a long one, so I wanted to give it time... Which lead to delays, which lead to blah, blah, blah.

Anyways, to start with I do have some information to share... Someone tried to kill me last night. :l

Luckily, whoever it was failed to kill me, but I was informed that an attempt was made on my life. So, that means we have, at the very least, 5 players with kill abilities in a game with only 13 players. So, obviously, this isn't a normal game of Reapers, as that would throw off the power balance. In addition, we have the Big Three, Rachni, and... well, humans, but I expected that. I am surprised that they are all flipping town, but... Well, I'm guessing it has to be a reflection of the state of the Citadel Focres during the end of the Reaper War, everyone working together.

So, here is what I'm thinking, we have a LOT of killers in this game (not sure if anyone else wants to or should come forward with "I was targeted"... Or if there is anyone to come forward.) Some prudence would be advised before going for another round of killings tonight, since another night like that will hand victory to the scum.

As far as the Proctor stuff goes, well, Hammerhead has a point. So far, all you have done proctor is say "I don't know what's going on, so throw up some theories so I can poke holes in it.". It's... A valid tactic, but only helpful if we have theories. In short, yes, you need to engage more and writing off people pointing that out as being scum is... Well, troublesome. I'm not really convinced your scum yet, but... Hm.

The quiet people like Icarus are very worrisome, because as long as they are quiet, we can't tell one way or another. If they are town, they are harming town by making us suspicious of them, if they are scum and we ignore them, we hand victory to them.

I... Didn't really say much in this, but I'm going to plead for Jo and Triskele at least, to finish their promised thoughts? Any insight from you guys?

Check out ClockworkFrog Games!

Vesh if you see this please prod Scientific Pursuits and Icarus, it's been well over 24 hours

At this point I'm most concerned about Scientific Pursuits and Icarus. Being THIS quiet I think it's reasonable to think one of them is scum but I'd really much rather have one or two posts to go on rather than flipping a coin. And if they're going to be removed for inactivity its a waste of our lynch vote anyway...

If we go on who has enough votes to start forcing a roleclaim that would be Proctor and right now she does have the most votes. It might be good to start playing a little nicer because unless the bulk of us move to a new target tomorrow she's gone by default despite only having 3 votes.

Mainly its just frustrating how quiet the game is. Honestly I would like to keep Proctor in if only because she keeps making people argue which is something. If we'd gotten some sort of investigator result or anything at all back from last night we'd at least have something to go on but if we do have a living one and s/he didn't find scum it would be absurd to push for information. With this many killers they wouldn't last another night to find real scum.

More like four days, sorry, I've had science to do (and horrible toxic things to try not to kill myself with) :/

Apart from Icarus, who's said almost nowt since we started, there's Proctor who I'm not sure about - can't work out if she's trying to cover something up by being a meanieface... or just being a meanieface. If I had to make a call on her I'd have to say it's a bit too obvious. If that makes sense?
But what if that's just what she wants us to think? Aargh!

Everyone else doesn't seem like scum to me, but they could just be really good at not looking like scum. Or something.
That really didn't help, did it?
