"Absolutely, Gestran. How do you humans say it? 'The more the barrier'? Never understood that. Do you use your friends as shields?
The salarian took a seat along the side of the rig for a moment to catch his breath before climbing back up to the lookout. "Everyone secure, Neil. Ready to head out." |

Vohk stared incredulously for a moment, before taking a long, calming breath. He raised the communicator to his lips.
"I'm sorry to say Ma'am, that isn't going to work, for a great many reasons. Let me outline them for you. "One: You've already proven you're willing to fire a gun at me with no provocation, so this is less of a negotiation, and more putting a gun to my head. So I'm not inclined to trust the word of anyone who threatens me, or my teammates. "Two: By firing on me without provocation, and threatening me with extortion, you've made it plenty clear that you're a criminal, not some citizen exercising their right to defend their home, a criminal. Any protection you'd have by the asari republics just went out the window. "Three: I contacted TERF command just prior to talking to you. So even if you manage to forcibly take the eezo, which I severely doubt, you will have, at best, an hour before your own government decides to hunt down the malcontents who murdered people who were dedicated to help your race restore itself for the greater galaxy "Four: And just what would you do with that eezo, Hmm? Keep it at home, polish it up, immediately return it to the refinery? No, you'll either sell it on the black market, making you no better than these pirates, or you'll use it yourself, which seems especially questionable, seeing how my group is supplying whatever we can for the rest of the people back on Nartin? "No. Right now, the only chance for you, if you're smart, is to run. Run, and hope I, TERF, or your own governments own law enforcement don't find you. Because you, my dear, have fucked up. What's it going to be?" Vohk snarled, ending the communication, and priming the grenade. If she was stupid as she sounded, the attack would come now. |

"No Gestran. You can't ride with us, you have to walk on foot." Neil said with a straight face.
"I'm just screwing with you. Get your ass in the damn truck and close the door. It's freezing out there." He revved up the engine, waiting for gestran to strap in. |

Lupin moved on to examining the ship, going over it.
"I'll need to head to the cockpit and check out what's going on." He told Titus, before putting up his pistol. "Don't want this to blow up in our faces." He said, before hopping into the ship. "Keep an eye on the eezo. I shouldn't be too long." And with that, he was head in, hoping that there wouldn't be anyone in the way. Six people down...but a ship this size could house another few without getting too cramped. |

"Understood. Be careful, and give me a shout if you need anything." Titus moved into the cargo bay, pistol still drawn, and faced out. He was expecting whoever attacked Vohk to come down here and try to take the eezo.

And once again, things had gone from bad to worse. An unknown party had decided to enter the fray, and judging from what he could hear over the channel, they outgunned and outnumbered the patrol group. Even if the team managed to get back to the command vehicle and suit up for heavy combat, the unknowns still had the drop on them. Unfortunately, Vohk made it clear that heading back to the truck would only leave the team more exposed, so Everett was forced to stay in the ravine, equipped with little more than civilian clothing, a light KB emitter and a Phalanx pistol. Wonderful. The human was hard-pressed to think of a time where he was more ill-prepared than this.
Whoever these bogeys were, it was clear that they weren't going to use the eezo for philanthropic purposes. Fortunately, Vohk made a strong counter-argument. Everett just hoped that these asari weren't dumb enough to ignore the warning. |

Cursing under her breath, Trixina takes a moment to consider her situation. It would be close but they could still pull it off. Their group needed resources more than anything and this was their golden ticket. No way she'd let a condescending foreign bastard stop her. Not when he, as the groups leader, was stupid enough to come out here alone, exposing himself like this and then reject her offer. Time to show em why you didn't mess with commandos.
"If ya say so. Arright, Pliri, Sync!" "GL sync'd, Trix!" "Lase target!" One of the two commandos running towards the truck brings up her omnitool, pointing a laser directly at the drivers compartment. "Target locked!" "Firin'!" She points the grenade launcher in a 45 degree angle towards Vohks truck. Pressing the trigger four times. The projectiles are launched into the air, homing in on the truck, each slowing down as they descend, bypassing the Kinetic barriers completely. "Concussives are a hit!" It had been a while since she got to use her favorite line. "FIRE INNA HOLE!" The four concussive grenades shudders the truck but leaves it mostly intact. "Secure the truck and git us to that crash, we need to MOVE girls!"

Vohk, you're unconscious and both your eardrums are shattered. You also gain Roleplaying XP and kudos from me.

"Pshhh, you've been itching to get back at me since I played that song Neil. And no Gallik you only use friends as hu... err, sentient shields when they're alone and getting shot at by huge sniper rif..."
BOOOOOOOM! "THE FUCK! WHAT IS IT WITH TODAY AND LOUD NOISES!" |

Neil's head perked up at the explosions the echoed throughout the area.
"Oh damn. You guys hear that? I think vohk and the others are in deep shit right now." Neil hit the gas pedal and started making his way back to the crash site. "We should suit up folks. Get your stun weapons ready in case we got some crazy psychopaths charge us with explosives or knives and whatnot." |

Up top in the lookout, the thunderous booms of the concussive grenades were not lost through the wind and rumbling of the engine.
"Explosives? Knox, your situation? Knox, come in!" The silence on the commander's end was telling. "Shrell. Templars currently away from wreckage; I would advise we return and await native incursion! They're no doubt here for the Eezo." |

"I am way ahead of you Gallick! Assume that we are entering a combat zone folks, I can see the crash site from here!"

Gestran swore as he tore of his jacket and got out his armour and AR. Shivering even in the relative comfort of the passenger compartment, he got the undersuit on, very glad that he'd run the clotheschanging drills recently.

"Shit. I just realized something. Have one of you put the restraints on the mummy man over here? We can't just leave him in the truck alone."

Gallik jumped down from the lookout and headed to suit up, replacing his winter clothing with his proper steel-grey hardsuit, he pulled on his headgear, similar to the alliance-issued Recon hood, but reinforced a little heavier, it's salarian shaped eyes, rather than circles blazing a bright orange out of the mesh.
He grabbed his gear, strapping his weapons to his hips, and sitting down. He tapped into the comm link back to TERF's camp. He wasn't entirely sure what the chain of command was here, with some members being Templar, other being Salarian and Alliance military. But something had to be relayed back. "Camp Cobalt, this is Patrol One. Sit rep: Vohkaiden Knox presumably dead, captured or incapacitated. We're currently waiting on demands, or native incursion to the crash zone! Request new mission parameters to compensate for changed situation. Use of lethal force authorization requested; hostiles have at least one explosive armament, and are proven to attack without provocation!" |

Gestran got the final piece of his armour on. It was alliance standard issue along with an avenger AR, this was the sort of gear he had been fighting in for 3 years of his life. He had sort of hoped that he wouldn't have had to use it as a templar, but oh well.
He brings out his omnitool, raising the stun setting to maximum while pointing it at the runner who had caused them so much trouble, It flashes with a zap. "Yeah I've taken care of it Neil, What about you Gallik? You ready to dance?" |

"KB Optimized, biotic amp green, ammunition readied. Ready to go, Gestran." He took a post by the door to the truck, ready to leap out on reaching their destination.

Neil slowed the truck down to a stop, far enough away to have a good look of the entire crash site, but close enough to see the situation at hand.
"What the hell? Are you two seeing this? We got heavily armed Asari forces down there, and I think someone is down. I don't think they see us yet." He turned off the engine and quickly put on his armor, and double checked to see if his AR is working. "I'm all ready. We just need to get our orders from command." |

"Cobalt this is command, Security measures approved, Permission to return fire if you're fired upon from now on but not before. Vohks vital signs read as stable but unconscious. Do not. repeat, DO NOT attempt to retrieve him before you've asessed the threat. Do you copy?"

Everett's eyes widened once he heard the grenades detonating against the truck. Just as he feared... they really were that stupid.
"Mother fucker," He hissed as he heard Wenrum try and fail to contact Vohk. There was no telling what his status was now. He couldn't get a good look of the truck from his position, so for all he knew, it could've been either mostly intact or a burning wreck. Either way, he had to find out, and he'd have to get there fast. "Lupin, get your ass to my location! We gotta suit up," Everett shouted through the radio, before sprinting off toward his truck. It contained the military-grade armor and weapons he usually wore on an operation. The human just hoped he could equip it all before the hostiles left the area. |

"Negative. Titus and I are holding the ship's site right now, and we can't leave this stuff exposed." Lupin replied as he made his way through the ship wreck. "Maybe see if you can access the vehicles nav systems from your omni tool. Sending you the key now. Maybe you can get it to head closer to you?" he wagered. "Gotta make sure this ship isn't gonna blow up, over and out." And with that, he had reached the cockpit, where he began a check of the ships vital systems, looking out for the warning signs of detonation.
