Well, you know me, honestly I think if I had hair I'd be sporting a different style and colour every other week - but if i had to choose one, I'd go with platinum. It favours your skin tone really well, and the combination makes your eyes almost hypnotic. Maybe just a very restrained touch of white gold eye shadow with it, and a tiny stroke or two of contrasting liner?

Private Message to VigilantVanguard Well, there's no sense in pretending your past isn't going to be a barrier some potential partners aren't going to be able to get beyond. But for what it's worth, I'd honestly say, try not to worry too much about it. I'm not saying that just to try to sound optimistic. Not naming any names, but I've seen over the centuries that there are times people will look beyond very dark episodes in the pasts of someone they love, not because they don't understand what happened, or think it was in some way trivial - because they do understand, and they love who that person is. It's rare, yes, but not impossible - it's worth hoping for, and it's not a false hope.

If it helps any, I might have some practical advice to offer. I don't want to suggest it's the same, but when I used to date (which I did on occasion, as well as just... well, 'dating' in a way that wouldn't have any bearing on what we're talking about now) I had my own hurdles that had to be got past, or not, being an escort. And I feel it's a matter of patience as well as openness. For me, I never let anyone get so far as actually dating without them knowing I'm an escort, but there's a world of difference between being an escort and loving the work the way I do, so that second part was what had to be 'the talk', if things moved along. I think perhaps you might be able to approach this in a similar way. You don't have to tell a person your entire history just to have dinner with them, if career and background is being talked about at all, it really should suffice to say you're with the Alliance, and what you can publically discuss about what you do, that you've seen combat in the past, you've been through heavy fighting. Perhaps that you were once on the other side of the fight, and you came around, so long as you think they'll understand that's a topic you don't want to get into in depth at that stage. Details aren't relevant, and it's not a matter of 'having secrets', just that they know your field, have a sense of the kinds of experiences you've had - that's the equivalent of 'escort', it lets this person adjust their impression of you, gives them something to base guesses on, because at that stage you're both really just making semi-educated guesses about what kind of person the other is, based on a few dates.

If things proceed, then there'll come a time when you have to sit them down and tell them there are things they need to know about you, if your relationship is going to go further. It'll be a shock, and difficult for both of you. More than likely some people will call it quits there, maybe driven by emotion, maybe able to look at things calmly but still deciding that it's something they can't get past. I'm sorry that'll hurt, I know it will, but it's just got to happen. The right person though, they'll be shocked of course, but they'll care about you, they'll want to stay, to understand. What they know about you - and telling them this extra thing, that doesn't invalidate everything that's come before - will help them, give them the incentive to work through that shock, and ultimately the two of you will be able to start putting your past in its proper perspective in your present relationship. It sounds trite, but if they love you, truly, they'll want to find their way to you, even if your past seems like a barrier at that moment. Barriers can be overcome.

I hope that's some help. I don't want to pretend it's an infallible roadmap, and if there's any worth in what I've said, it's something you'll have to interpret and vary to fit your circumstances anyway, but hopefully it'll help. Perhaps, anyway. I've had one successful lasting romantic relationship in all my life so far, and I kind of stumbled into it without any sort of plan (or awareness, really) at all, so who knows?

Hope for the best, cherish the good wherever it may happen to arise, and try not to let the rest get you down, that's all I can say.
