Grissom Academy to relocate, rebuild

During a press conference regarding the reconstruction of pre-War extra-Solar facilities, a Systems Alliance spokesman announced that the rebuilding of Grissom Academy in a new location will commence next year.

Grissom Academy was the forefront of education for young biotics, artists, engineers and the gifted, providing the Systems Alliance with the best and brightest minds of humanity's youth. Attacked by Cerberus during the Reaper Invasion, the station was destroyed when Reaper forces assaulted the Vetus system.

Systems Alliance spokesman Jack Vaughn, "With Grissom Academy rebuilt, the education of our future generations can once again resume a sense of normality. While the original station may be lost, the station's gifts to those that have gone through it haven't been lost, and hopefully with this rebuilt facility, gifted children can once again experience the finest education in the Systems Alliance."

Response from those present at the press conference was positive, with the announcement being met with a small standing ovation. Elsewhere, however, there has been a tepid response, such as from former student and SATAE critic Nathaniel Ayers.

"Grissom Academy as I knew it is gone. This new station, wherever they may choose to put it, is going to be a heavily restricted brain-camp for the next batch of System Alliance specialists, if the SATAE has any pull or sway on the subject. How are we going to be sure that the students in this new academy won't be shipped off to military training if they pass the criteria? Would you really put it past them?"

Further information about the Grissom Academy relaunch can be found on the academy's new website. A large marketing blitz has been scheduled to begin early next year, presenting information regarding the previous incarnation of the academy's impact and the site of the future location.

call me a conspiracy theorist but how many of these "local industrial accidents" are really accidents? Or "ship malfunctions" are really malfunctions?

You're a conspiracy theorist.

Almost every accident you've described are just that; accidents.
Furthermore, not everyone exposed to element zero is naturally going to become a biotic, but I don't suppose you've read anything about human biotics, have you? Some people just grow tumors. Others debilitating neurological disorders that have to be treated in gene therapy before birth.

I actually had a friend in the BAat program. She used what you called L2 implants and she used to tell me about Conatix and the possibility that the company itself was responsible for said accidents. Granted by the time she turned 30 she was a bit unstable but i wasn't going to discredit her. She actually went through the whole ordeal. and believe me i know the probability of the children becoming terminally ill or developing bionics. Its irresponsible to think that not at least a couple of these accidents were in reality a fabrication. From the standpoint of companies that were hired to "track down" biotic humans, how lucrative might it have been to trigger the process themselves?

You're not doing a lot to disprove the "barmy conspiracy nutjob" image, there. Look, I can do it too:

THE KEEPERS ARE SECRETLY PLOTTING TO STEAL EVERYONE'S CAKES

...seriously, though, how would deliberately blowing up an eezo drive over a colony or whatever turn any sort of profit? Even if you do get some biotic kids to milk for tuition, it'd be a hell of a waste of element zero - and eezo is expensive. Like, really expensive.
Only a cartoonishly mad scientist with far too much money would even consider something like that.

There had to be at least one of us.

Again, most biotics were a result of industrial accidents that are much more sensibly attributed to the fact that humans didn't have a clue what we were doing in the early days and were unaware of the potential effects of eezo contamination.

Others were born primarily from parents involved in the military or space-faring, where element zero is used immensely. I've been exposed to eezo during a shuttle crash, so it's not really that uncommon, considering how big the Alliance military and space-faring sectors are.

Actually, there is a scientific interest to exposing a colony to eezo. It allows the study of element zero contamination while using the cover of a transit accident to make it seem like a "total accident and opportunity to further the study" thus removing the need for covert tests on people that might come to light and cause publicity problems. There isint a fiscal gain, but a scientific one, see?

Funny you should say that. I only came to the Citadel a few months back. I had just rented an apartment on Bachjret Ward and one of the neighbors (human) gave me a cheesecake as a welcome gift. They explained its a custom on their world to welcome new people with cakes. Well to be honest, it smelled delicious and i wanted to give it a taste so i thanked them, took the cake into the apartment and left in on the table. The keeper that was hobbling down way, entered my home and took it. I ran after it but got stopped by a turian c-sec officer and fined me 650 credits(can you believe it!!!) for apparently "interfering with a keeper's function." Needless to say i moved again that same day. Never again.

I dunno... I've seen keepers steal cakes before.

Let me tell you a secret. There is no such thing.

I've never seen keepers steal cakes, but I keep cakes in my restaurant typically behind the counter, somewhere easily displayed.
Keepers have, however, rearranged my restaurant while it's closed (they used a floor vent to get inside) and once moved a desk at my former home (when I lived with Sarah.)

They do move things about for whatever reason they have. I don't see why they'd steal cakes, they don't eat.

Furthermore, this has derailed the topic.

Grissom Academy reopening is an excellent thing. Humanity's gifted and talented need a place that can match their needs, and after all that's been lost in the Reaper invasion specialized education returning is probably a welcome sight to some families.

No, I really can't believe it. If this ever happens to you, people, please use the complaints comm line.

(And how did you move within the day? Wish I had your real estate agent.)
