GoneRampant:

Please review the Cerberus Daily News Rules and Guidelines. In particular, pay attention to Rule #9, which asks you to avoid using direct references to 21st-Century pop culture. Oblique references that use the jargon of the series are fine (say, using "Galactipedia" as a reference or playing the in-game "Galaxy of Fantasy"), but throwing together a mashup of video game titles to make another is right out.

Thank you.

Nice to see someone taking their responsibilities as a vendor seriously. I hate to say it, but it's an area (I'm thinking mainly entertainment, incineration devices are a bit outside my field) where the Citadel could use a serious second look at its regulatory framework - the raft of non-binding content advisories are almost worse than having no advisory at all, since it seems they give people the impression they can browse freely without a care in the world without actually doing much to ensure that's the case. Illium may be 'Everything's clearly labelled, it's your own damn fault if you got something you don't want', but at least there's no ambiguity. Sorry, pet peeve a bit. Welcome to CDN. :)

Also, concerning the thing about Gears of Halo Theft Auto 5- it's not a mishmash of names, it's an actual YouTube video by Machinima. I should've linked to it in the first post, sorry.

GoneRampant -

It still references many properties not related to the Mass Effect world in a very obvious way. Please go back and edit the reference to something a little less transparent - say "TAYSERI STRANGLER SIMULATOR III" or "REAPER WARS 2 - TAKING BACK EARTH" or something. The reference you posted is waaaay too obvious.

He sells incinerate apps.

I'm not totally sure why you don't understand how selling these to minors is a terrible idea.

When was the last time anyone paid good credits for an Incinerate app, anyway? I've seen half a dozen free variants in the past week alone.

I'm not saying any of them would be particularly good, but it's not that hard to custom-rig a microfabricator to generate the plasma.

And then get your face burnt off.

Please please please don't jury-rig your civilian omnitools to use freeware incinerate. It leaves a mess and the officers of C-Sec are really quite fond of their eyebrows/mandibles/outer scale layer.

Mm, it varies from 'tool to 'tool, but honestly? If your microfabricators are an Amalgamated Class Four or above, there's nothing inherently dangerous about the process (well, until you fire it at someone).

The Cryo modifications are a lot trickier - cooling lasers are a nightmare to align.

Most people don't have Class Four fabricators. Most people don't care or can't afford to have them. Most people don't have a clue how to do what you're suggesting safely. It's much safer just to buy a module if you really really must have it, because then the person selling it can make sure your OT can handle it, that you're registered to have weapons on the Citadel and basically, that you're not going to kill yourself or someone else.

Point taken!

I wasn't really trying to suggest that the trade of weapons (or, in this case, heavy-duty combat apps) shouldn't be monitored, more a case of expressing surprise that people still paid for downloads. I guess surprise is one of life's little gifts.

Wait, it really only needs a Class Four?

...I'd never looked into it, to be honest. I feel a bit apprehensive of my omni-tool all of a sudden. :)

I have a class six apparently. Didn't even know that there were classes. How much do your Incinerate apps cost?

Anywhere between two hundred fifty (For a fake one that just sends fake flames onto something) and two thousand five hundred (For the real, "I have to have C-SEC clear me just to so much as look at these on the extranet, because I can burn you alive) credits. Five thousand, a weapons permit and approval from C-SEC to make an Omni-Flamethrower (Normal packages send just a ball of fire- this makes a little flamethrower for a close-ranger attack).

Well, you'll have to get the proper approval from C-SEC to allow me to give you it, but once you have that, I can install it whenever you want.

Yeah, and then you can look forward to every single customs checkpoint in the galaxy confiscating your tool before you've even finished ordering your cab to the port, you feel?

Seriously bro, fuckin' amateurs piss me off. If you're in a position where you actually need an omni-tool capable of melting a fucker's armor all over the floor, whatever military fucking organisation you work for will give you the fucking thing. Otherwise, do the sensible fucking thing and call the cops, you dig?

Yes, but SA doesn't exactly give its pilots incinerate, and it works sooooo much better than mace.

And this is exactly why you shouldn't have it my dear. Because you lack proper empathy, threat assessment,

and brains.

It leaves a clearer message to would-be predators when you burn a man alive, as opposed to just blinding him for a bit and running away like a scared child. Also, call me dear again and Il use that incinerate app on you.

A. That's murder. And a particularly awkward visit to the police station if you miss or, shock of shocks, flambe a completely innocent man or woman because you posses all the mighty cognitive power of a concussed newt.

B. There's a reason that weapons checks tend to weed out proponents of cavalier vigilante manslaughter on places like the Citadel (it's because they're utterly batshit).

C. You're threatening a person on the extranet for saying that "maybe the bizarre, grey haired woman-child with a raging murderection shouldn't have lethal weapons"; it's a toss up whether it's hilarious or just sad my dear.

One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves.
