Turians: When did you get your faces tattooed?

Probably because most of them have the common sense to not pick stupid colors or idiotic symbols for their markings. Which cannot be said for those who get normal tattoos.

You probably are right though, I won'tget my dad's tattoos just like that, I'll probably shelve this idea until I have done a tour in the hierarchy some day.

I don't see that it's that different to any other kind of betrayal of what the markings mean, in that case. If a member of my family truly thought so little of their origins and history that they went in the opposite direction, as you say, they've discarded everything that entitles them to wear those marks to begin with.

We wear them for different reasons than you do but we turian daughters do not choose them, they are handed to us by the legacy of our fathers. I once painted myself top to bottom blue, but Takky didn't like it, he said ie didn't suit me because it wasn't glow in the dark. So I went with orange but that's ages ago, I'm in my lime green period, well most of my body is lime green, I found this one paint that glows in the dark if it's stretched. :3

Anyway, what I really meant to say is that everyone should be able to put on their carapace/skin what they feel on putting on, unless it hurts people. Which is different from offending people, it doesn't matter if it offends people as long as it doesn't hurt them. It's just like back in the big H. you can take any drugs unless it prevents yourself or others from doing their duty. Some people might not like druggies or talk to them but that doesn't matter, they don't get to tell you what to do or not do if you still do your duty well, and they don't hurt or bother others.

OK, maybe that came out wrong... what I was trying (and failing) to say, is that they're, well, serious business. Plenty of kids get tattoos because they think they look "cool" and "bad-ass". Which, to be fair, they do. But that's not what they're really about.

+If you're a Hierarchy (or some separatist colony, I guess, but I'm just gonna say Hierarchy) citizen, you can get face-tats, that's awesome.
+If you're born into/married into the Hierarchy (even if you're not a turian!), you're in the Hierarchy, so see the previous point.
-But you shouldn't really just go out and get some random turian tattoos, they have to be yours.
-And you've got to be a Hierarchy citizen too, because - and this is what I meant by my previous post - seeing someone who is in no way affiliated with the Hierarchy, wearing turian facial tattoos; that's when it's not right. That's just my opinion though.

It does look odd on non-turians (they're designed for turian facial structure, after all) but if they're Hierarchy (or a separatist, etc), it's OK.
