THESSIA, CDR:

Another 17 successful raids on Element Zero refineries and transports struck Thessia today, as the violent wave of piracy that has persisted since the opening of the Parnitha relay continues to strike fear in the galactic reconstruction effort. This brings up the total number of raids up to 845 this year, a staggering 2000% increase from similar reported incidents two years ago. Some analysts project that the lost eezo could amount for up to 5% of all of Thessian eezo exports.

When approached about the increase in piracy, Asari naval custom spokeswoman Yressa Merivi noted that: We're dealing with a multitude of pirate groups, both local and external in origin that are taking advantage of the influx of foreign workers, the tripled eezo refinery and export operations and the navy's current inability to cover all territories. While we are able to intercept the majority of the smaller raids that operate out of civilian transports, we've had reports of military grade vessels striking refineries and transports as well.

The Citadel council and the Asari republics have been in talks for weeks to address the crisis faced by the still recovering Asari navy. Whether or not an agreement is being reached is unknown but several high level Alliance, Hierarchy and Salarian diplomats have already issued statements of support to the initiative.

The supply of eezo is widely regarded as the biggest bottleneck on galactic recovery operations after the reaper wars. Thessia is is the biggest producer of eezo in the known galaxy, and provides for a significant number of reconstruction projects.

It's not me who needs to take in the whole picture, because the people themselves do. Nobody is going to buy eezo if it means they starve to death. People themselves know how much they can afford to spend while still buying supplies. If they're buying eezo it's because, like with every purchase, they think they're better off with the eezo than without. If they can't get supplies if they purchase the eezo then they aren't going to buy. I don't know many people who think they're better off being dead than not having eezo.

Them citadel folks better not come out here. We Asari needs to put this matter right ourselves. Any pirate or otherwise goin' to git a nasty surprise if they try to mess with my people.

Bloody pirates seem to have cropped up everywhere these days. There have even been a few raids around Noveria, of all places. It's getting ridiculous.

War makes people desperate. Desperate people do stupid things to change their situation.

You mean us. This is Thessia, after all---anybody gets the contract, it'll be Eclipse. Asari world and all.

Well they sure as the Wheel turns aren't gonna call for Alliance help.

I was talking in more in general terms.

Although, if the Republics ever decide to finally to finally hire the professionals as opposed to you yellowbellies, well, that would just make my day.

Yeah, yeah, I know that won't ever happen. Still, stranger things have happened.

Whoops

...And this is when I normally keep my fake piracy to myself. Love the romanticism, but acknowledge reality.

Well... That sucks.

But, as far as contracting mercs... Well, I just hope current political climates don't lead to the asari government avoiding its allies' help. The Union's military has seen quite the increase, after all. Hopefully they can work something out.

uhh... No offense to you merc types, I guess?

I don't think those pirates are desperate people. They have the means to run ships armed enough to take on merchant vessels, most of which have been weaponized during the reaper war. This is not desperate back alley mugging, this is organized crime.

sad and angry.

I hope everyone takes action against this piracy beacuse that is in the interest of no one.

I just hope some dumb vigilante or hired gun doesn't mistake me for a pirate, I'm just a scavenger, eezo isn't much use to my line of work

well, it is a difference to roam a wreck field or attack a (most likely armed and) manned, fully operational transport vessel.

You cannt be mistaken here for the other. Stick to the first at best.

I'm new at this, but not that new. A hint, the 'former' are shot up, listing abattiors. I don't mind the dead, at least they don't judge and preach.

just saying, snow.

somone has to pick up the leftovers, right?
Nothing too bad if you ask me.
