Emaleus wasn't as phased by the geth's question as he should've, though that simply could have been because he was used to it in his job. Acting as a diplomat meant that he interacted with more than a few aliens that did not know anything about hanar face and soul names, either not knowing about the differences or simply not caring. So the hanar simply nodded a little in greeting. "This one's face name is Emaleus. It is pleased to meet another of the Geth Collective. "
He kept himself calm as a sort of counterweight to Laykalar's excitement. Though he was unsure if Flash of Light would be nervous about such an excited individual, it was usually a good strategy when conversing with an alien, organic or otherwise. |

Flash of Light? Stezenyn did not know that Geth even had names, he just knew them as Geth. I suppose the Geth would need some sort of way for others to distinguish between each individual one. Stezenyn also did not find the question too terribly bad. When he was a merchant, he had gotten use to others asking for his name, something to call him, and he had gotten use to the notion that they were asking for his Face Name, something to recognize him with.
"This one's face name is Stezenyn. It finds pleasure in meeting the Flash of Light. May this one inquire as to how the other came to be designated as such?" |

That said, I feel obligated to address your post in this thread. Namely, the assassination of someone on the middle of the Citadel. While it's true that the Citadel is not quite as safe as it used to be, the fact remains that it's still the center of the galaxy and comes equipped with the best security forces and safeguards to match that distinction. To put it simply, it's the safest place in the galaxy, and the chances of someone getting away with something like this on the Citadel are very, very slim. Especially if you expect to make the Citadel a permanent residence. It's just not conducive to an environment where anyone can get away with shooting someone in public. Don't worry, you're not in trouble or anything, but this is a heads-up for the future - this is stuff that you could probably only expect to get away with in other parts of the galaxy. Like say, Nos Astra, or Omega in particular. Thanks. Remember to give our rules thread a good look if you haven't already. And if you still have any questions about CDN, feel free to ask me or any of the other moderators. We'll be sure to answer any question you have (within reason, of course!). ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Laykalar. Emaleus. Stezenyn. All these hanar had now proper handles assigned to them, opposed to 'the one without hat and not stumbling'. It turned to face Laykalar first.
"Pilgrim vessel? You are on a pilgrimage, are you not? Is it similar to the pilgrimage my creators undertook prior their return to Rannoch?" And then Stezenyn inquired about its handle. "The handle 'Flash of Light' was my own choice to commemorate the firing of the Crucible that ended the war against Old Machines. It also serves as what is called a play on words. Flashlight is a pejorative term used at least by the humans in wake of the Eden Prime war towards the geth, and this handle was chosen to test reactions toward such choice of identifier. I have received no commentary upon it yet." the geth replied. |

Perhaps, then, he should offer the geth some commentary? How pleasing that the synthetic was not only willing to engage in discussion, but was apparently eager for feedback!
"This one believes the hanar population will respond well to the other's chosen face. An argument for identification of the thinking being with emission of light is integral to these ones' spiritual experience. In addition, this one finds the other's attempt to defeat an undertow of suspicion through re-appropriation of intolerant language to be intriguing". Somewhere within the haze of his excitement, he reminded himself that he was potentially risking discourteous behaviour, which of course was unacceptable. It would be a most unfortunate breach of etiquette to exclude the other hanar from the discussion! Gesturing politely with a tentacle, he drew attention back to his companions. "This one has been making its introductions to these agreeable others. It suspects that the opportunity to engage with multiple hanar in a single discussion must be pleasing to the other, given these ones' isolationist habits! The other's perception of this one's journey as a pilgrimage, comparable to that undertaken by the quarians, offers fascinating insight into the potential for unconventional illumination of the hanar people, and this one gladly welcomes further observations! This one must admit to having neglected many of the potential arguments floating in undercurrent where hanar and quarian intersect; this one has not encountered many quarians..." He realized he was speaking too quickly again. He trailed off, trying to compose himself. "I was blind, and I cannot say I had eyes to see the truth. I was a fool, and I cannot say I had sense to know the truth. I was lost, and I cannot say I could have found the truth. In the darkness, truth found me." |

"This one suggests that Laykalar calm down for a moment." Emaleus dimly flashed, before turning to face Flash of Light. "As far as this one knows, many humans are actively attempting to cease using the derogatory term for geth after the war. It has seen many of its human colleagues catch themselves whenever they say the word in trade relations, similar to other derogatory terms used against quarians. Given how trade needs to be established between Rannoch and a galaxy that previously disliked both species currently inhabiting the planet, trade relations are quite shaky at the given time."
Speaking of which, Emaleus checked its omnitool for the time, realizing it was running late now. "Ah, please forgive this one for its hasty departure after rudely bothering all of you, but this one must be off to meet with one of its elcor co-workers to discuss possible routes between Kahje and Dekuuna. Please excuse this one." |
