As each player sends in their undoubtedly reluctant confirmation, thirteen identical, featureless avatars flicker into life. Customisation had (sadly, I'm sure) been turned off for this game, each player only identified by the name-tag floating above their heads. As everyone attempts to get their bearings, AVINA once again flickers into life in the centre of the chamber, a wicked smile glitching across her face.

"Let the games begin," she announces mirthfully, her humanoid avatar disappearing and leaving the players to their own devices. Oh, this was going to be interesting...

IT IS NOW DAY ONE. YOU HAVE 72 HOURS.

Spooooooooooooooooooky.

Right then. Another Day 1 with nothing to go on.

Essentially. Hello everyone, good to be playing again.

Moderator, may I make a request? Can you place a timestamp on each of your posts? Since the new forums do not have a timestamp on each post but rather only have one for the beginning of the thread and the most recent post it's going to be a little hard to keep up with how quickly the day is passing if we aren't online at exactly the beginning of each day.

I think that a 'day ends at ____' part of the post would help better, since it gives a deadline that people can easily refer to.

Should we start with random lynching like in previous games?

This one believes that perhaps a series of questions would be best suited, rather than the random lynching that could potentially lose these ones a valuable ally. Unfortunately, it has not yet come up with such questions, but it hopes that the others would be able to do so.

Granted. Additionally, after reviewing my schedule, some changes have been made to Day One's end time:

DAY ONE WILL END AT 12:00 GMT, MONDAY 25 FEBRUARY.

We can always try the tried and true "accuse two, lynch the worst" method.

Sure, as soon as everyone checks in. We have several days to make a decision and we're all in different places.

So it begins.

So we've got a good list of people here. However, you all are being far too cautious. We lynch daily or the scum win. There's also no majority rule here. No ending the day early due to a misvote that puts someone at half+1. So vote. Vote often. Change your vote if the whim suits you. The point here is pressure. People break under it.

Also remember that sometimes people make mistakes. Even good players. Something that may seem scummy may not actually be an indicator of a scum.

Come on Jo. You know it's true. This is the pattern. Either I'm scum and you're not, or you're scum and I'm not. We're never (knowingly) on the same team. The galaxy will tremble in fear if the two of us ever team up. So Jo... the real question is... are you scum?

Yes, yes, hello. Consider this to be my checking in post.

Wonderful seeing the votes starting to fly already, even though there's people who haven't even posted yet. I get that being overcautious is bad, but we've got over a week for this day. We can afford a little patience.

Where's the fun in being overly cautious? From what I can tell, these games are only fun when accusations and arguments are wildly flying in the air and people are accusing each other left right and centre.

Anyhow, I'll follow Ash's logic, since I can't really come up with anything myself just yet.

Ah Ash, charming as always. But the key word in that is knowingly. Which is true, this game I have no idea what you are, same as in all other games. Given I'm not scum, that either means you are or that we're both sentient and not fortunate enough to be in a mason together.

But really, you're going after me this early? First day to my mind is a shot in the dark and I'd never waste that on eliminating a player that I know are good. Better to wait until after Night 1 is over and see who can be useful and who acts according to how I've previously read them. So I won't countervote you, sorry, because frankly that would be a waste of a good sentient, which I certainly hope you are.

Should you be a scum I'm sure that will come out soon enough. But I think as a rule I tend to be more patient than you with these games. Though if you want a vote from me...

Because you just committed a pet peeve of mine and a rather classic scum tell for a newbie. Jumping on the bandwagon and announcing its because you can't think of any reason yourself.

Well, I could come up with all sorts of wild accusations or reasons that ultimately mean nothing if it makes you feel better. Like, an experienced player like Ash could play a leader townie without anyone noticing anything wrong, so I'd rather pressure her first. Whereas you I don't know much about your playstyle, so I'll pick her over you.

Does that work as a reason?

Interesting. Not exactly how I expected it to play out, but still interesting to see where the initial votes lie.

So it's either hanging on and waiting for someone to get squished, or voting and maybe killing someone helpful off? That's not much of a choice... :/

Initial votes are just that. You said yourself they're liable to change on a whim, and we've got all the time in the world for whimsy.

I was just going with the 'pick two, lynch one' game. And if one of you two are bound to be scum, why not just start there?

Plenty of time for others to chime in or make mistakes.
