Terrorist Bombing on Volunteer Center Leads to Action

Cross-Posted from Citadel News Net and Tuchanka Times

Baelis Safe Grounds, Southern Torrents, TUCHANKA Authorities, Citadel governments, and Clan leaders alike have been shocked in the aftermath of a terrible attack earlier today, where the headquarters of the volunteer relief organization Hope Springs Eternal was destroyed in a terrorist bombing early this morning.

The bomb went off at around 3:00 AM, local time, during a curfew that was implemented on the camp shortly after the last attack. Of the one hundred fifty eight volunteers and staff, there were no survivors.

“This is absolutely disgusting,” Clan Mother Urakk Aeara said of the attack, “and completely stupid. How can we prove to the galaxy that we’re ready to be a part of the galactic community when we have these pyjaks murdering people who are here to help us rebuild? How can we say we’re ready to have our own military, when they’re trying to say we can’t be trusted with weapons?”

Urakk Clan Leader Battlemaster Tharn put the krogan attitude to these attacks in simpler terms. “When we find out who’s responsible for this, we’ll tear them limb from limb. The clan they come from will be banned from any safe grounds, we’ll make [expletive] sure of that. Anyone who attacks our allies, we make them pay.”

CDEM officials have already started meeting with clan leaders and Citadel governments to investigate these attacks as well as to create protective measures for the volunteers, but some are not waiting.

“Whatever the Citadel or CDEM come up with, it won’t be in time,” Danny Hansen of Soldiers of Peace told Citadel News Net. “They’ve been doing nothing about the attacks. Most of my guys got out of the Alliance so that we could avoid these bomb threats while still doing good. These crazy bastards? The krogan bombing us? They won, I’m leaving this dump.”

While many krogan decry the bombing, some are apparently endorsing the attacks. Quash Urven spoke to Citadel News Net in the aftermath of the bombing. “We don’t need these aliens coddling us, infecting our children. No matter what anyone says, Tuchanka is in the state it is because of alien influence. It will only get worse unless we take back our future.”

Citadel News Net has reached out to Citadel officials, CDEM, and the governments in charge of volunteer efforts. At time of writing, there has been no comment.

You know what we see a lot? News about volunteers getting slaughtered, most clan chiefs saying they'll find the culprits, everyone raging about it.
You know what we didn't see yet, like at all? A single arrest by tuchankan authorities. Hell they don't even know if it's a group or individuals. i'd like to have I AM THE LAW's input on this because I seriously wonder if all efforts are made to put an end to this.

There's like, five quotes like this one. You understand that this is on purpose right? It is reactionaries lashing out at possible threats to their power. The council is a rival source of power. Galactic hypercorps who might come in are a rival source of power.

Fighting them might be easier if aliens hadn't actually infected their children, but whatever.

You know what we see a lot? You posturing, acting like a pompous jackass with a jar of change as an avatar because apparently you care about the plight of the duct rats. Haven't seen you do a single fucking thing about it.

As an aside, next time you ask for "I AM THE LAW," why not you OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK FOR A POST BY HIM.

I mean, really. It's not hard.

We've taken officers off the beat to guard the Valley's northern volunteer center from attempts like this, and the people in there are keeping their eyes open for any abandoned packages. CDEM still hasn't sent any real bomb disposal gear to us despite me hauling my scaly ass over to their representative many times.

Not really. How about actual investigation? Clues? DNA fragments? Trying to find the culprits and their associates?

Southern Torrents is on the other side of the planet, human. My jurisdiction consists of North Kelphic Valley and associated territories under the allied clans of this region. Right now my biggest concern is preventing an attack like that from happening here. Even if I was the commissioner of the Torrents, Tuchanka does not have the forensic expertise or equipment in amounts I am pleased with.

You want DNA samples and prints? Help us get the gear in here. When you put acquiring those fancy things against more food and intact shelters for newborns on the elder council, what do you think is going to get chosen?

You don't need a registry to use those, you can compare what you found with suspects. It was only an example on an investigation process, of clue finding. Police work.

Yes of course I don't expect you personally to solve all the cases on Tuchanka, I just thought you would have more insight on what the local cops actually did to find the suspects. Your answer seem to indicate "frak all", which I find rather distressing...

Also, when you say print you mean finger prints? You guys have those too?

VikSajee I'm still free
You know, given what we've seen in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if this Urven fellow turned out to be connected to or responsible for the bombing. I mean, he certainly seems like he has enough of a motive.

Oh well, the Krogan will sort this out themselves I bet. It's the only way I think they'll earn back the good graces of the galactic community in relation to this event.

As for Tuchanka being in the current state it is in, does he mean actually being able to have children again? Cause that's the fault of a bunch of Aliens as I recall, one of them a Salarian if I understand it correctly. How quickly people forget things, nothing changes, even when things do change people just keep doing stuff like this.

Just want to point out that in order to compare something, you'd need to have something to compare it with. To simply say that they should include every single xenophobic krogan in their search is something very broad and time consuming. As far as the articles say, they don't even have any suspects, just an idea of the mindset that these extremists go through.

But since its difficult for the krogan to figure out who is responsible for this, the volunteers should stay off the planet until those responsible are caught.(If they get caught. The lack of resources could mean that the authorities on Tuchanka won't be able stop these attacks.)

And really, if the krogan think they can survive without these volunteers helping out, let them. There's no other species that's causing this much ruckus about letting others help them rebuild.

Clearly you haven't been to Chicago. Or Dublin. Or Moscow. Or Los Angeles. Or Tokyo. Or Beijing. I could go on if you like.

Are they bombing volunteer centres there too? If so, then remind me never to visit Earth.

Not bombing but I understand that the death toll of non human volunteers, salarians especially is quite high even without explosives. Earth is a cesspool.

Yeah, I'm calling bull crap on that.

The Alliance is, frankly, obsessed with seeing major cities being rebuilt on Earth (especially with the heart of galactic politics in orbit). Part of that is protecting volunteeers and rebuilding efforts, often with priorty on protecting those of extraterrestrial governments. Best foot forward and all of that.

And even if the Alliance could care less, most people are pretty accepting of aliens on Earth. Movements like Terra Firma are suffering for a reason, mainly that it's hard to hate the people who are handing you back life.

Earth might not be a pleasent walk on the beach, and there have been incidents of hate crimes and the like, but it is a far cry away from Tuchunka.

Human political constructs such as the aforementioned “Terra Firma” have very likely provided financial and physical aid to the construct known as Cerberus. Their dissolution appears to be more closely linked to the societal phenomenon known as “damnation by proxy,” not because of a species-wide shift in consensus or consideration to the aid provided to them.

Evidence suggests that individuals sharing detrimental attitudes toward extraterrestrial life will simply migrate to new, increasingly myopic social constructs, rather than consider an outward shift in philosophy.

Uh.... what? No seriously. What are you talking about? Where the hell on Earth have you been living that people have this sudden urge to stand around in a circle hold hands and sing Kumbaya? Alternatively, what are you smoking?

So it's either "volunteers get mass murdered daily on Earth" or "Everyone on Earth is so loving that they put My Little Moxie to shame"?

It was a tragedy yes. It happened that one time. I'm sorry but it feels like on Tuchanka we get one every other week.
And if memory serves the criminals were prosecuted.
