Cavallius; It wasn't so much a decision as it was accepting fate. If you'll pardon the dramatics. I'd always had a fondness for machines. The faster the better. Hovers and ground cars at first. I got my first taste of flight when the scrapyard I was working at got a decommed fighter. Me and the plant manager were on good terms, so with enough begging he relented enough to let me try it out. You know, last run sorta deal, use up what little fuel was left. And it was glorious. After that, I was pretty much hooked.

Now, flying may sound more like an addiction than a career from all that.

That would be because it is. ;]

Welcome, Kestrel. :) Pilot and engineer? We have something in common, then - I don't really claim fellowship with the pilots here (there are a few) just for flight's sake, being that I'm just an amateur (and me being on Illium and my ornithopter back on Thessia, I don't exactly get to take her up regularly), but I like to think there's a little kinship for those of us who care enough to get our hands dirty and look after the stays and bolts of our birds ourselves.

Now that is funny! I am also an engineer with a knack for skycars. I even worked in the industry for a bit.
I can testify for the gem of a 'car that Daia calls her own. That is definitely not amateurish.

I don't know what would have happened if I had followed my dad and had become a fighter pilot. I am still amazed by the tech though.

If we're ever in the same area (I think the human term is "neck of the woods"?), we'll have to meet up sometime. I'd love to talk shop. I can chat and swap stories with other pilots, but I don't get to do the same very often with other engineers. :]

I'm getting ready to visit Nasarn and Aeghor...how are those places doing?

Ah, my home town. Should be just about spring there; plants start getting into full bloom. Should be very pretty out there. I say "should be" because I haven't been back since my University days. Freelance mercenary isn't exactly a respectable profession, so far as the greater Union is concerned.

I feel like I'm cluttering up the welcome thread though, so feel free to drop me a personal line sometime, or just borrow my AMA thread. That I'd have less guilt about topic derailment. :]

I was going to start here earlier but there is almost nothing by way of extranet access on the homeworld. But now I'm back on the Citadel working on my latest paper. Research aid or leads on new ruins to explore are always appreciated. So long as it isn't on Rannoch or Tchuanka. The paperwork and or guns needed for defense on those planets is insane.
