Miralatriarch Just because I'm likely far older than you doesn't mean I know better.
Mirala couldn't help but grin at the mention of a "hands-on approach", but the man was flabbergasted enough without her making things worse with her love of euphemisms.
"Oh, just thought I'd drop in with a few friends, see how the volunteering's going - what do you think I'm doing here, aside from making you look silly in front of your squad?"
Speaking of squads...
"Come on inside," she called to Shaari's team and Savara, "it's safe. Safer."

Epsilon
When the ball exploded and sent shrapnel everywhere, Kirse had quickly pulled the crates to block her, stacking them atop each other while the shrapnel blasted out and embedding into them. She'd moved too quickly, and her head started to spin. Behind the crates, she crouched and took a few deep breaths, unaware of the exchange that was going on until she regained herself. By the time she finally came to her senses, Everett had stepped ahead to speak to one of the invaders...and she heard a familiar voice. She quickly stood up and looked behind the crate, confirming just who it was. "...Mir...Mother?" She asked, the word as unfamiliar as father to her mouth, but this time she had used it out of shock. Then she quickly hid behind the crates again, because in her mind, she realized that she was about to throw quite a lot of crates at her mother.

Oops.

Kirse quickly shook off the shock and shame, stepping out again as she looked at the matriarch neutrally. "We needed that door."

Savara
From behind Mirala's serene form, a deep growl penetrated that would have caused even the sturdiest of krogan males to flinch instinctively, as Urdnot Savara marched in, every bit the pissed off krogan female. Her sun yellow eyes scanned the room, before halting at Kirse, looking less than pleased.

"Well, if you'd just opened the bloody orifice when I knocked on it, THAT WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM, NOW WOULD IT!?"

She barked, fists clenched with exasperation, unmindful of any guns pointed her way, finding them beneath her notice. She began pulling out her medical kit.

"Now, I didn't hijack a tomkah to bore myself listening to cross species family reunions. Where are your wounded?"

Savara demanded, not in the mood for games.

Mirala shrugged, quietly filing away Kirse's utterance of "mother" for dwelling upon later. "I may have overdone it a little - though I'm sure one of my team will be able to fix that rather bothersome turret at least."
Kiral was indeed hard at work trying to get the thing upright again (avoiding getting shot by it in the process) while Lirene held its housing steady and Blorf surveyed their surroundings through a scope.
"So this is what you call a simple 'prank in the middle of something entirely normal', is it?"

"Because answering the door in the middle of a battleground is a brilliant idea..." Epsilon murmured lowly under her breath, but nevertheless pointed the medic down the hallway, speaking up. "In the observation tower; it's where we've been keeping an eye on things." She then turned her eyes to look at Mirala and sighed. "That was a mistake. I should've just deleted the message, but there wasn't much time earlier... Things are complicated here, Everett, Mirala. I can't say much."

Meanwhile outside the tower...

Rugged helicopter was circling around the Northern Plains Alliance tank, hovering just bit above its turret.

"Northern warriors! Kelphic Valley police is coming in with a tomkah to push towards the tower! Can you assist us?" the pilot bellowed over the noise of engines and gunfire to the troopers on ground.

"Indeed?"
Mirala frowned. She'd had quite enough of the phrase "it's complicated" recently.
"There may come a time at some point when you won't have the option to maintain your silence. I shan't press you for now, not while we're still under fire, but please keep that in mind. Now, I think some introductions are in order."
As if on cue, Shaari appeared at the matriarch's shoulder, saluting the heavily-armed humans with a glowing hand to her chest.
"Huntress Shaari R'Yeth, Roglin unit. We're escorting Lady Mirala here. What needs to be done?"

Meanwhile, the squad had finally got that tenacious turret up and pointed at anything vaguely hostile again.
"All done."
"About zarking time," Blorf grunted as another shot rang out from her rifle to cause a vorcha to collapse screeching to the ground.
"Shove it, Blorf."
Lirene could only roll her eyes.
