CapiceBut yeah, my religion is important to me. It does tie me to my parents, and my ancestors. I think the problem comes because people treat the gods like, the Mr. Burger delivery guy. Or like a protection racket. Just because you pray and are a good person doesn't mean anyone will give you stuff or "take care" of you. The gods are distant and mighty and when they touch us it can tear us to pieces.

These ones are in the darkness of a trench, a deep cut, presences lit by our own blood, little biolumes, heroic and pathetic beings too afraid or weak to steal fire but able still to glow. The Enkindlers are among us and they care nothing and are nothing like us. This is how these ones are brave: we worship them anyway.

I was sorta kinda Catholic before the war. You know the way people are when the entire family is religious and you go to church because that's what you do. Wasn't sure I believed, now I know that I don't. There's nothing like watching your species slowly being devoured to destroy faith.
