Babysitter for a bunch of baby krogan during the day, farmer sometimes, and a barmaid at night. Got picked for babysitter/farmer back during the war; my guardian didn't want me in the fight, and I took up the barmaid job as an extra source of income.

And by coincidence this suddenly frees up a lot of projects pushed onto MY plate. Curious, that. The job even comes with a selection of postgraduate students to do all the investigations I find too boring! :D I work with Linya, so I'm a chemist as well. Current Status: Tired and Overworked |

I'm CEO of an environmental systems company, and I didn't so much 'select' the job as blunder into it with the best of intentions. Amid all the economic upheaval that went on here on Illium after the war ended (still going on, although in broad strokes it's settled down somewhat), Envirometrics - the company that supplies and maintains the clean-room Ana and I have - looked like going under, and there weren't any alternatives that could've supplied the same level of quality. As it happened the war bonds I'd bought, if reinvested in a local industry project, translated to just enough financial oomph to keep them afloat, so... well, weighing the possibility of it all going ploin-shaped, financially, against the potential risks of Ana not having the best clean-tech, we figured why not try, so we bought the company. And then (as they say in those old serial adventures) they made me their queen. I'm laughably out of my depth as a corporate leader, but I have plenty of cheerful optimism which can pass for visionary leadership so long as nobody looks closely, wonderful people around me who take up the slack in actually running the company, and (lest it seem like I'm just baggage) in the area of mixing with society at large, being noticed, and getting the company's name mentioned frequently, I leave a lot of much bigger CEOs in the dust. :)
I still have to pinch myself every now and then to be sure I'm not just having one of those makes-no-sense dreams, but we're muddling along, making enough to keep our heads above water. And, while Ana having the best tech was and is a very major concern, it's... rewarding, if you'll pardon me sounding a bit like a cliché press release, that we found a way to achieve it that's also kept that option available for a lot of other people as well. I'm still an escort as well - part-time, of course - and that I did consciously choose, way back when I began on Calabsa. It began with stripping, which was a simple choice: I'm an exhibitionist, I like dancing, and I was on my Maiden travels so getting credits for doing something or other was a good idea. The move to actual prostitution... wasn't that different, really. Involved more thought, discussing it with others, and so forth, but what it boiled down to was that I believed, having considered it as best I could, that I'd find it enjoyable and fulfilling, I didn't think having sex for money would impact negatively on my feelings regarding intimacy and sexuality, and the pay is pretty sweet. (Plus, I could still dance all I wanted as well.) I've learned a lot since then, and taken stock of my life on numerous occasions, but those beliefs remain true for me, so I remain content with what I do. ... or you brag about that on the Extranet ;) But who would look into that whenever you chair the meeting in a pinstriped outfit? I for myself am an accomplished engineer and used to work for an aircar copany but essentially I could never get away from either sports or dancing and stripping, so currently I freelance as a dancer/stripper. Better buck for the bang basically, work hours are shorter, more flexible (in any way) and the pay is significantly higher. Currently I am on Illium, looking for a and I wonder if they pay down there will be better than up on Nevos. |
