While these sorts of limitations may be true of your species, the rest of us lack such deficiency.

Goronak wrote:Those who can do something of themselves are not the slave caste. And members born in the slave caste can actually change caste if they demonstrate they're able to handle self determination.

If slavers only traded in batarians who were born into the caste and willingly accepted their places, I think that many of us would have no problem with your line of work. Unfortunately, your brethren have decided that their "cultural rights" give them the authority to sweep down upon our colonies, abduct our people, shave their heads, wire their necks with neurocompliance collars, and subject them to abuses that would horrify a psychopathic vorcha. We tend to find that objectionable.

I know it's fun to play 'blame the blink', but the single biggest group of slavers in the galaxy right now are the Blue Suns. They were before the Reapers turned up, too.

They're also almost half human, and there are a lot of turians in there too.

We're honest about it, while the rest of you sit there accusing us. That's the only difference.

...As I said the last time this came up,the batarians that attacked your colonies on 'slave-runs' were mostly criminals and exiles. Most proper batarians have no use for an alien slave - slave caste know their place in the Order, have similar dietary needs and familiar biology, and history has proven that most revolts come when aliens are forced into the position.

And even those that do take alien slaves are expected to treat them properly. Casteless they may be, but laws exist to ensure that abuse isn't as flagrant as you state - by law, any slave, of any race, must be given food, shelter, and access to proper healthcare. An alien slave costs thousands of credits and a significant investment - there's absolutely no reason to endanger that with such treatment, unless, of course, the owner is mentally damaged and psychopathic regardless - and even in the Hegemony's bright days, if such was brought to attention, there would be recompense.

Considering whose avatar you're masquerading around with, you might want to consider the tremendous irony of that statement.

Salarians, on the other hand, tend to stick to Eclipse. Something about a penchant for genocide and avoiding the topic at hand.

Eh, 5/10. Nice try though, getting better.

Reiterated to emphasize the irony:

SirtaScientist1 Female Batarian.

Yes, I know I look like a male Batarian. Most of us do.
From my time living and working within the Hegemony, a lot of what slavery was was putting groups against each other. You could keep one caste down easier if it had an even lower class with no power at all that they could oppress. A low-caste Batarian won't be as aware of how they're being oppressed if they in turn can control and deprecate another powerless caste. It's all a balancing act of keeping the various "small people" pitted against each other so the "big people" can profit. That's why the Hegemony instilled the idea in Batarians that slavery was an integral part of our culture.

My experiences tell me that every species have elements that just can't take care of themselves. I suggest you take a trip to a homeless shelter or a drug den an talk to the people there. A lot of them are destitute because of circumstances outside their scope, but most because of terrible life choices they just can't rationalize.
Now it's my understanding that those people are looked down in other societies as "idiots" or "losers" and left to their own device.
We don't.

Slaves4Us sternly condemns the practice of raiding. And shock collars. And abuses. And psychopathic vorchas.

As a side note my first name is actually not Goronak but Bintar. It's an understandable confusion, Goronak is a pretty common batarian name I believe.
