Hello!

Thank you for your advice.
We were planning on adopting but there were complications.
There are a lot of things I'm finding myself stressing over that make hardly any sense.
I've read parenting guides, and I've already set aside a small budget for the baby's education and all we'll need.

When the baby gets older, do you think we'll have to move to another apartment, one with more room?

Chris

Sorry to bug you with this.

Hello back!

I think the important questions are how big is your apartment? And how little space are you okay with having? Our apartment on the Citadel before the War wasn't especially big, but we had two bedrooms, and that felt like the important part. During the war we had a second whole family living with us (three kids altogether!) and at that point it was cramped, but we got by. Not that I'm saying you guys should, it's just that you can survive worse than you'd think.

The important thing to remember is that sometimes you need time to yourself (or time with just you and your SO). You don't need a big place to do that, just a little bit of planning.

Good luck!

Harrad.

We have the kitchen with the living room built in, a closet, the bathroom, the study and the bedroom. We'd purchased it before we considered having children, when it was just the two of us. If this is one, I suppose we could make it work for a little while until he or she got older.

Sarah has lamented the loss of some of her favorite activities the baby prohibits- And with her working (and her career) I worry about how she's taking things. I was going to buy a crib or a bed for the infant when that time gets closer, but for now, the most we've gotten is baby manuals and books.

Reply to CidatelChef:Chris:

You'd probably do better buying sooner rather than later. I don't think there's any sort of "season" for buying cribs on the cheap, but at least you won't be rushed.

As for the changes having a kid brings? Oh yeah. Just remember that for everything you have to give up, you gain about a thousand times that back. Don't pretend that you'll be able to "get back to it" right away (or even after a couple years), and things'll be a lot easier to cope with. And, like I said, the sacrifice is more than worth it. It won't even seem like a sacrifice down the line, more like a no-brainer.

Take care!

Harrad.

Private message to Flying TankMadam, I couldn't help but to notice your great state of distress over your assistant resigning. I was wondering would your route go by the Citadel where I am stationed. You have certainly made an impression on me, but may I impress you over a beverage of your choice?

Natalie,
I flipped out on a food sample guy at a shop today on the way back to the apartment. He didn't even provoke me.
I also got my hair cut- [haircut.ext] back to the old short style I used to have. What do you think?
Also, Chris' brother is alive and I apparently missed the CheeseCon? When did my partner get calls from media groups?
I'm feeling a bit jetlagged and out of my mind right now, how are you doing?

Also, someone spent some six hundred credits on baby supplies like, yesterday on my account.
Not exactly sure what that's all about, too tired to care.

My feet are fucking killing me.

Sounds like fun. This is exactly why Kaseka had the kid. Besides the whole 'can't run around shooting things if I'm pregnant.' That too.

Hair looks good. Good to hear some of her family made it-you two get along?

I'm alright. Therapy and shit, all the fun stuff.

Nat!

Apologies, it has been far too long hasn't it? I'm afraid that I've fallen horribly behind on some of my correspondence obligations.

So, first things first, a somewhat belated formal "congratulations you're still alive" message (and it truly is good to know that you're still around).

Second things second, I'm doing somewhat well myself, commutes over the past year and a half have been hell and I think that there was a solid month where I slept in a different bed every three days but I can't really complain. (Also on a somewhat related note have you ever gone to a meeting in your pajamas? I had no idea that it was so liberating.)

Titan's still solvent if you were wondering. And, on the subject, no I wasn't going to ask! I am, in fact, insulted at the implication that I would be so baldly opportunistic as to try to woo you away from the Corps (but yes we do still have an excellent health and dental package just in case you were interested).

In all seriousness though, how are things with the family and Prime? Been hearing worrying things.

...about the latter, not the former.

And, for that matter, how are you?

I'm glad to hear you and Titan are soon well. I can't imagine the War made is too easy to operate-lot of people went under. Good to know you weren't one of them. Have to say I've never gone to a meeting in my pjs but it must've been pretty funny with everyone else in suits.

Eden Prime has been...interesting. And by interesting I mean I think I want to strangle someone. If you'll forgive me ranting here, it's all pretty much bullshit. Cops blame us for what they did (who do you reckon had the water cannon?), colonists are pissing me off and te brass have marched off one of the better officers I know so they can have their scapegoat. And this new unit...I'm still getting used to it. I would, uh, appreciate it if you didn't repeat this, already been reprimanded over this bullshit.

My family is good. Kaseka's been doing some occasional work at the base hospital-she'd probably go crazy if she didn't work. I've been looking after my niece, Hope. And my daughter, Shiori is...well not to do the gushy new parent routine, but she's amazing. She's started crawling (god help us) and she's started talking.

Well. Kaseka reckons she was just babbling but that was totally a 'da', I tell ya.

Me, I've been okay, I guess. I was pretty badly done over during London but I've been doing therapy and yeah.

Out of curiosity, commuting? Didn't Titan's headquarters used to be on the Citadel? Before uh-well. Cerbies.

Private Message to User: Nat Nat,

It didn't and they did and thank you. And yes, it oh so very much was (the whole thing was my fault really, one of my suits was damaged and the rest were still in the process of being cleaned, in hindsight though the reactions were worth walking through the snow.)

On the subject of Eden Prime: that (forgive me for being crude) fucking blows. I mean I knew that tits had gone definitively upwards with regards to the whole incident but I didn't have any idea that it was quite so bad.

On the other hand you survived the War, you survived London. I'm pretty sure it'll take more than a few REMF's and one clusterfuck to bring you down. And you needn't worry yourself, everyone needs to vent now and then and we suits tend to be very good at maintaining confidentiality.

Especially with friends.

On a slightly happier (and less profanity laced) note, it's good to hear that the wife and kids are doing alright. And you are perfectly within your rights to do the "gushy new parent routine", it's your god given reward for all the two in the morning wake up calls. And plus its always nice to be reminded that sometimes things do work out alright.

Take care of yourself alright? And I'm always here to talk.

...Okay well not always but if you ever need somebody to do the whole motivational speech thing I'm usually good for it.

-Nikolai

P.S. It was and still is (our temporary replacement got punched full of MA holes so I made the executive to decision to move us to a nicer, only partially charred, place), I've just spent a good chunk of the time since the War bouncing around the Terminus and C-Space on business.

Good thing that I'm about one of half a dozen businessmen who still actually enjoy traveling for their work.

((Please read OOC remarks))

Encrypted Message to User:Hawt DawgOperative,

Now that we've had some time to adjust to this... new galaxy, do you know what it is I miss most about Cerberus?

The security. The safety of knowing that, whatever ungodly threat to humanity was lurking in the shadows, one of our cells had been assigned to protecting us from it. The geth, the Reapers, turian war-hawks, volus banking interests, even that sentient fungus. Our duties might have been focused on something smaller, something different, but Cerberus was always there, watching and working in the shadows to protect our families, our species. Humanity.

Of course, we find ourselves in a much less secure position, after the defeat. No Illusive Man in command, no armies of integrated, no networks of specialists, no unlimited funds, no anonymity. Worse, no unity - each of our cells is cast adrift, unable to agree with any goal or philosophy short of 'Humanity First'.

But these difficulties offer us new strengths - a leaner organisation, a decentralised cell structure and, above all else, a fresh start. Let the galaxy laugh at us; while they laugh at us they don't fear us, and when they don't fear us they forget us, and once they forget us we will strike again.

But to business. While I, for one, feel that our security lies in the cell structure, it would be a waste of our time and resources if each of us was to concentrate on the same threat. And, beyond that, I feel like making a gesture of... trust, of good faith, as it were.

With that in mind, I wanted to inform you that what remains of Sixteen Red Twenty Five will be addressing humanity's little separatist problem, before turning our attention to other, exterior matters. One must have one's house in order, &c.

Feel free to inform my cell of your current targets, or not, as the case may be. Again, consider this a goodwill gesture.

Keep up the good fight, Operative. Humanity First.

Plans are in motion. If you are serious about rejoining our illustrious organisation, a pale shadow of its former self, then there might well be an opportunity.

In order to assess your suitability for the role (and no disrespect is implied, merely that I do not know who you are nor what role you played in Cerberus), I would like to arrange a private holoconference, if at all possible. Please reply with a suitably encrypted address posthaste.

Humanity first.

Encrypted message to User:MetatronicMr. Samuel,

If you are still interested in rejoining the Great Cause, an opportunity has arisen that might - might - suit your skillset.

How current is your knowledge of non-linear computing? Direct and demonstrable experience with quantum entanglement technology would be preferable, but a working knowledge of this or other such methods (DNA-based algorithms, other non-linear supercomputers, &c.) will suffice.

Please reply posthaste.

Humanity First.

Encrypted message to User:RememberTheBlitzOperative [Redacted],

Sadly, it does not appear that I will be able to reach Noveria for the foreseeable future - as I am sure you can understand, business is, sadly, booming, if you'll pardon the pun - but I believe that I could profit from your assistance.

And, of course, I believe that I can reciprocate the favour, at some point in the future.

If you are available for a holoconference, you can reach me on the following encrypted server.

While I cannot make it to your coordinates in person, I have dispatched my second in command, Ms. Bompastor, to your sector. Rest assured, she will avoid any Alliance patrols in the area. Once she has reached your coordinates, she will broadcast a signal on the following band. To confirm that all is well, please reply with a signal, any signal, on the following [band.

Succour is on its way, Operative. Please hang on.

...I think that's everyone =P The intention is that everyone representing an organisation who PM'd Lights will receive the same message, without any idea who else it has been sent to (if anyone). Drawing inspiration from this post, for future reference.

First off, I'm not trying to set up my character as the next Illusive Man or anything - it's just the way she is, the genocidal little control freak - so feel free to completely ignore literally everything in the post!

Secondly, I've got plot coming. Significant plot, involving a fair few people. If you like, and especially if you'd like for your character to take part in one way or another, PM me on the old boards (Corona) and we'll talk.

Lastly, well, my available time for RP is going to be radically reduced very soon. Given all that, stuff is going to be rather slow going. Just a heads up!

Email to CitadelChef Hello Mrs. Thompson-Waller

Your service looks indeed suited for our contracted caterers list.

I am sorry though that we are already set for the weekend - would be unprofessional not to, I hope you understand.
But I really like what I saw and am currently checking the possibilities. We constantly have all sorts of venues where we need catering. The embassy has a list of certified caterers where we chose from, depending on the occasion and size of the affair.
I am not in charge of the list but I could give you a contract for small dinner party though. If you and your employees have clean records with C-Sec, there should be no problem. Please understand that this a standard procedure. I hear, your wife is Alliance Military? That would be a great plus on the security record of course!

Once you are on the list, the embassy will contact you regularly.

Here is the request what we would need:
[attachment: simple dinner party of 40, mixed chirality party food and drinks]

Can you submit a quoted menu and a list of employees?
It would be a pleasure, as I really like your concpet.

regards
Arina
