Alien Space Probe Revealed
Star of Athame Data to be Analyzed The Thessian Observer Serrice, THESSIA – Board of Astronomy Chairwoman Dr. Hyreen Linara issued a press release today stating that invitations to analyze data collected by the Star of Athame have been sent to twelve prominent institutions in the field of astronomy . The [list] contains publicly-funded turian, salarian, human, quarian and hanar organizations. In addition, an inter-species conference has been scheduled on Thessia for May 2188 to establish a committee to lead the investigations. Included in the announcement was news that the Star of Athame is traveling on its own power to Thessia, where it will remain in orbit for the conference. The crew remains at an undisclosed location; however, scientific expedition leader Dr. Paqui T’Vell and Captain Ayda Sindi are expected to be part of the conference. The Board also revealed details of the space probe that was discovered by the Star of Athame. ![]() Measured to be twelve meters long, additional testing has supported the Athame crew’s speculation that the probe is approximately 35,000 standard years old. Dr. Linara has stated that judging from velocity and bearing upon discovery, “[it] is obvious this object originated from inside the Mankina Cluster itself and therefore must be assigned to a yet unknown and maybe already extinct civilization.” Linara was also reported stating hopes that “our colleagues, in particular the quarians, can provide valuable help in understanding its functions and properties.” Presslink News Aggregator: Collecting headlines from across the galaxy. Exciting news! I wonder why the volus and the elcors weren't consulted though.

Ten credits says something terrible happened. Like, the crew all went crazy and saw some kind of ... demon star that turned them all into crazy ghosts or something. DEMON ghosts.

Listen, people! I know what happened.
It was like an experiment, where they sent like this probe in space without like any crew or anything, and then they'd like check and see what the others would do when they found it! So they'd like observe us, and then they'd see what we'd like do and how we'd react and like. And then they'd just watch as we like, reacted and stuff. Yeah. True story, bro. |

Of course, what neither of them realize is that it's all an experiment set up by the asari, who remotely brainwashed them into following their instructions about fifty generations ago, and this is just confirmation of their results. At least it doesn't look like a squid. I wonder what that time in a region of space with intense radiation did to the thing.
As for the species debate, I would expect there will be representatives of volus from the turian institutions and elcor from asari side. The list is quite short and shows only the most upper end of possible institutions. If they wanted to keep private enterprises out strictly, it is getting difficult with volus or batarians anyway. It will be interesting to see, if the quarians bring the geth to the table as well. ![]() |

It largely depends on whether or not any of our scientists are willing to bring them along. Last I heard from my cousin though she says former research fleet members have at times gotten chummy with them, evidenced by the medical advancements in repairing our immune systems and such. You can bet some of them will be showing up. Although I'm not sure if a certain Admiral will be there, this isn't exactly her field.

So we find a probe from another species we somehow missed? If they're still alive, the galaxy sure is getting damn crowded.

We are far from knowing the majority of the galaxy. A lot of relays were left inactive, and even in the clusters we know most star systems are unexplored. Space is BIG. Slaves4Us is here to help you! Contact us with your need, and we will fulfill them in no time! We have Asari, Turian, Salarians, Batarians, Humans, Elcors, Krogans, Volus, Vorcha and for a special price even rare Raloi stock! |

At the same time, though, any species found by the Council authorities would be another addition to the galactic community, which already includes the Big Three, volus, elcor, batarians, quarians, hanar and drell, humans, krogans etc. And even with how big space is, relatively little of it is habitable from what we've seen, and finding worlds suitable to whatever physiology this hypothetical newcomer sports could be a challenge, considering all the good stuff's pretty much been snatched up, either by the Council or by any number of non-Council races. There's also the fact that it'd be another government coming out of the woodwork, and even with all the juggling the current political situation provides, we only have so many hands. |

If I remember correctly, the Athame crew didn't find any higher developed civilisation duruing their journey, only some ruins or some such, so the chances are slim. But, Eezo, what would you consider doing with any new government, should any show up? Bomb them back to where they crawled from because dealing with them is inconvenient? I assume, this is not what you meant.
Look at the Raloi or the Yahk - other possibilities. A few numbers on the galaxy to help with the idea of possibly undiscovered civilisations... During the last 5 million years, roughly 50 billion stars were born. If we only look at the yellow dwarfs now, which are most stable, and subtract double star systems, we end up with roughly 10% of all stars falling into our equation, meaning 5 billion stars. If we agin assume, only 10% of those have a planet in the habitable zone, we end up with 500 million possible planets to support life for at least 4 billion years. That is a long list to work down, even for asari standards. The galaxy is huge and we have only seen so little of it. ![]() |

It is unlikely that any problems they have would be a problem for the Citadel. In normal circumstances, getting an embassy would take at least a century - it is why the raloi did not recieve one simply because they were introduced to the galactic community. |

Not advocating any drastic measures, of course. And the possibilities of finding any existing civilization is very very low. In the event we do find one, I don't think I'm qualified to make decisions on them. It's a bit above my pay grade. |
