Interspecies conference victim of bomb scare

Curan Fal, Aroch Post

Keynote presentations for the third day of Aroch College’s Non-Council Integration Conference were postponed after the campus post office received an unknown parcel meant for the quarian delegation’s geth representative. The parcel was found to contain homemade liquid explosives, which were subsequently disarmed by a C-Sec bomb disposal unit. President Yaetan Harwun stated “Regrettably: It is unfortunate that must cancel this part of the conference because of such a reprehensible hate crime, but the safety of this university takes top priority.”

The geth representative, designated “Equanimity,” stated that “the cancellation of Aroch's activities was determined to be the most efficient means of protecting both organic and synthetic life and interests, as well as Aroch College property. These precautions are undesirable, but are expected from current political trends. Should the Aroch institution concede, this unit would be willing to participate at a later date."

C-Sec has reported that their investigation of this incident is "ongoing."

Fifteen credits it was sent by some bucket still b'awwing over why the flashlights weren't wiped out.

Almost certainly true. Disgraceful.

...And a complete waste of time, since any Geth in those circumstances is extensively backed up.

I am just going to nip this in the bud right now since I already know what all of you are thinking.

It wasn't me

Uh huh.

So that high-pitched squealing for joy I could hear halfway across the Citadel was just you celebrating the bomb scare.

Of course, targeting the geth seems the obvious intent of whoever was behind this. Alternatively, the conference itself might have been the target, with whomever responsible seeking to put a wedge to the conference and its message.

If so, they've at least partially suceeded in delaying things. But I'd infinitely prefer this outcome to the loss of innocent lives. And, eventually, things can get back on track.

I think something is wrong with your hearing. You should probably see a doctor.

You're right, I should have been able to hear it on Earth.

I heard it as well.

Do both of you seriously believe I would take joy in an event that could have potentially harmed innocent people just because one geth (that wouldn't have even been killed by the blast in the first place) was there? Please.

If it had gone off, you would dance for joy, so long as it took out the geth.

Weren't there krogan and batarians at the conference too? It could have been aimed at them.

It's funny how the whole galaxy has suddenly started thinking that terrorism is an acceptable way to be involved in politics. There's the human separatism, there's the Sovereign Nation movement, there's all the krogan who still think the galaxy should pay because of the Genophage, and then there's the geth-quarian conflict.

I don't understand especially the last one, and I'd want one of the resident quarian toaster-haters to clarify. What is it about the geth that brings the need to resort to violence? The geth haven't acted violently against quarians at all, damn, they have practically rebuilt the quarian planet for you guys. The motives of the synthetics might be a bit out there, them being synthetics and all, but honestly it's been quarians every single time that's initiated the violence between you two. First time in your Morning War, then the second time when quarians attacked the geth. Sure, the geth didn't exactly project the image of being the Paragons of Peace and Love, them destroying all the envoys us organics sent, but they never went after the Migrant Fleet.

And yes, blind trust in the geth is stupid too, but nobody's asking you to hand them the knife and turn your back. Besides, they already have the knife (one of the largest navies in the galaxy), so you should just keep your own sharp and try and cooperate with the robos. They seem to be here to stay, whether you like it or not.

True story, bro.

So sensitive, Ms. Pariah. One might suspect you protest too much.

Now, now, Pariah is quarian enough to understand how backups work.

Had she set the bombs she would have targeted the quarian "collaborators".

No. I am just fed up with socially maladjusted freaks like you and their poor attempts at being clever.

You do a good enough job of blowing yourselves up. So you really don't need my help in the matter.

Are you trying to imply that you're socially well-adjusted?

In any case, most curious. If only they'd published what exact explosives were used; could provide vital insight.

The sentient races of the galaxy avoided annihilation, however narrowly, but that doesn't change the fact that we've all got our problems. And since the reconstruction's ushered in a measure of instability and vulnerability, it makes sense that terrorism and crime would rise.
