Youngest Heroes to Be Recognized

He’s only three years old, but for many salarians, bright-eyed Olos New-Aegohr Hinnjin Ulan Gilos Dre has become the face of salarian heroism during the recent Reaper Invasion. The youngster, who became quietly famous for his rescue of two human children of comparatively younger age during the Conflagration of Olos, has been honored today in a ceremony drawing attention to the capacity for each and every Union citizen to contribute to the galactic commonwealth. His proud mother, standing alongside several of Dre’s elder brothers, praised her child’s bravery and vowed to ensure that the Union leadership “gives all our young citizens the representation and acknowledgement they deserve”.

I'm assuming he was 3 at the time of the war. A one or two year old pulling something like this off is beyond the bounds of credibility, even for salaraians.

Raeta'Iral It is never too late for change.
Wonder if we can cross-reference this to everyone claiming "THE FROGS ARE OUT TO GET US!"

Olos was the colony where they had that scandal regarding the water supply, you know? Salarian districts getting a better deal than human ones? The whole, er, tension between the humans and the salarians, it's going to be even worse there. So I'm not surprised they're pushing this. I mean, I'm pretty sure what the child did is being exaggerated; like the guy upthread said, he seems really young. Not that I'm saying they're lying, only...you can see why they want to promote it, perhaps more than it should be promoted. Remember that unattributed hatching article? It's not like the people back in the Basin are afraid to use our young as prawns. Pawns? Pawns, in this sort of political game, you know?

And even without the Olos connection, it's really pushing the populist agenda, too. Like it's saying that the way to repair salarian relations with everyone else is to become more like them politically. Associate the populist movement with salarians helping the galaxy?

Phraag is not pronounced "frog". It's not funny. I'm serious.

I suppose you can look at it that way, but on the other claw, is there any good reason not to celebrate people helping other people?

A little late, given the time that's passed (especially for a Salarian!), but then again you still hear all sorts of stories from the war popping up, and we can't just ignore them all.
