Fleet and Flotilla: Homeworlds Goes Directly to Holovid

Arielle Johnson – Galaxy Entertained

RANNOCH – Risa Uvarsen will release his latest production, Fleet and Flotilla: Homeworlds, straight from Rannoch Studios to holovid later this month.

Fleet and Flotilla: Homeworlds is a three hour romantic drama, centering around quarian Shalei and turian Bellicus and their love. As Bellicus is kept away from his love by service on Palaven, Shalei tries to build a home on Rannoch. Torn between their duty for their people and their eternal love for each other, the protagonists have to face the cruel obstacles of galactic reality. Which homeworld will they end up on? Preorder the holovid on the Rannoch Studios site to find out!

The vid was filmed completely on location, making it the first and surely the biggest production from Rannoch in over three centuries.

“This movie is a showcase for the rebuilding of our holovid industry. In contrast to the first movie we will see much more of quarian music and dancing, Bat’Zaer of Rannoch Studios told Galaxy Entertained. “We have the largest dancing scene ever filmed on Rannoch in it.”

If you love Fleet and Flotilla, gaily colored suits and lots of hipshaking and singing under the moon, don’t miss Fleet and Flotilla: Homeworlds.

Rating: +++ (watch with partner)

Oh, well, Mike, that's your opinion

It's a romatic movie and probably one of the most sucessful before the war. Jeff, if you are interested in turians and quarians and have a soft spot in your heart for true romance, it might be for you.

Depends what you're looking for. Fleet and Flotilla does an interspecies romance incredibly well (and is brutally realistic with the problems quarians have with physical intimacy), but it gets rather sappy at times. If you don't like the genre in the first place, you won't like the movie.

Peaceful life and liking it that way.

Maybe I'll look for a copy for my sister, she likes romance movies, maybe it'll help make her feel better. Also can quarians and turians have kids together or does it not work like that with inter species relations?

The move overall was mediocre, but the actors had good chemistry and the soundtrack was critically acclaimed.

I wonder why it's going straight to vid and not having any public showings instead? Is it because of how long it is? If so, I guess that makes sense, though that hasn't stopped directors before.

The music and dancing parts seem like they'd be fun to watch! They're always a nice touch to a movie, makes it a little livelier.

Nah, Nekyia Corridor was like, six? seven plus? hours and that went to the simtables.

My guess is because it's basically a low budget "epilogue" to the actual movie that's just trying to trade on the name. Doesn't seem to be made by the same people for instance.

We dispute this statement.

We dispute this statement.

It means in terms of art. Culture, you know. Not dreadnoughts or platforms or computations on the square root of minus seven, or whatever.

That's what it means.

Phraag is not pronounced "frog". It's not funny. I'm serious.

They're not going to agree with your definition, there.

I feel a little sorry for the fans of the first movie. Surely they've all imagined what happened 'next' and are not going to enjoy having their daydreams torpedoed.

I'd like to see it for the Rannoch scenes since I'm sure I won't be making it there anytime soon if at all.

But I think I'd need to get Susrix out of here first so me and Sirane can watch it in peace. You don't watch this sort of thing with any men in the house.

I'd say ladies' movie night at Sniper's Touch but I think they'll just laugh at the Hierarchy stuff too much instead of the actual cheesy bits.

Oh, a few girls from the turian embassy are having a movie night with some of us, so it'll be like an informal diplomatic event.
I don't want to know how they will handle the call-a-meal bill though.

Most of the takeout places near the embassies are good about splitting the bill by chirality. Last finance meeting I had to attend was pretty much turians and volus and the deliveryman gave one bill to the head of our party and one to theirs.

Is yours the one hijacking one of the conference rooms with a projector? Because I hope you have a big room, the signup sheet over here is looking pretty long.

If it actually did it accurately then it would have ended with the turian dying during a war and leaving his girlfriend/wife stranded alone on the Citadel.

If they've loaded it with stock romance tropes (which they really should, otherwise it won't really be a faithful sequel, stylistically), the various drinking games from the original ought to still work as a substitute.

I'm getting a kind of 'Quarian cinema = Bollywood' mental image, which is awesome.
