Tour Epira 2188 Launched

Paddy Maloo – Sports Republics

HARBOUR SONG - After two years of forced hiatus, the Tour Epira has been relaunched at Harbour Song. As a major race for single-hand catamaran sailors across the galaxy, this tour features a difficult course across the Helios Sea and stars many fan-favorite locations, including the Silent Islands and the Hurricane Highway.

120 entrants form a relatively small field compared to previous events, but given the current state of the galaxy, it’s to be expected. In fact, Organizer and President of the Harbour Song Yacht Club Vesis T’Mara says that “the reception of the announcement half a year ago was very positive. We were prepared for more participants, but we are nonetheless satisfied with the quality of the field.”

In more somber news, 2186 Tour Epira Champion Celda T’Vanse died on Thessia during the Reaper attacks. To honor the great sportswoman, the Celda T’Vance Trophy for Best Rookie has been established and will be awarded after the Tour’s completion. No fewer than 35 participants are eligible for this trophy.

Among the entrants are humans, salarians, two batarians and a quarian, but mostly asari, with the current favorite being two-time Champion Larissa Vadir of Nevos. The Tour will last 90 days.

Well, that's nice to see.

I think I know which person I'll root for. :)

It can't be all work on Rannoch, surely there are plenty of people taking time out to rediscover old pastimes now that geography allows them. They may not be the most seasoned racer, but there are plenty in the field who don't expect to win - even if you come last, just coming in within the stage goal times is a serious challenge, for an amateur completing the Tour at all can be a crowning achievement. Definitely someone to watch.

Sad about Celda, but the trophy's how she'd have liked to be remembered. And there's a couple of entrants from Attena, so maybe they'll keep the victory back home. :) (Alright I admit, against Vadir, not likely. But you never know.)

You never know where she or he was on pilgrimage.
Also, Rannoch has vast oceans, an interest to rediscover abilities of the old quarians when it comes to maritime techniques would be understandable.

It's sad to see how many familiar names are missing from the entry list. Best way to remember them is to race, i guess.

About the krogan... actually I do not even know if Tuchanka still has any larger oceans?

Yeah and it's pretty fucking awesome and full of all sorts of shit that will kill your ass dead a hundred times over if you don't know what the fuck you're doing.

That's what I'm saying. In order to be a Krogan sailor you need to be the best period. Hope Epira 89' will have us cruising.

A time when they're supposed to be learning how to better their species as a whole. How does sailing do that?

Maybe, but two possible years versus likely centuries and decades other participants have had it is like comparing a mountain to a ant hill.

On the Move.

We all go out one way or another, I guess. Best way to deal with it is to race around as many times as we can while we're up.

Okay, so water might be at a premium. There any land yachting on Tuchanka or something? I could kinda see that, big wheeled things with sails tearing across flat desert land. Sounds fun.

Oh, how could I miss this?
As a Dassus native I root for these girls of course! The holo coverage sucks though, I hope they get their act together over time! I want decent pictures from the hurricane highway!

And... Is it inappropriate that I thought aquarian for a second?

(save travels to all the entrants!)
