That silence you hear? That's the silence of a city missing 5 million souls.
Since the War, it doesn't take much conjecture that there are still plenty of places on Earth which your average soul has no interest venturing into. These are the places that Radiation Levels can kill a man, where Sand Storms can entrap even the best equipment, and even the water you see is dripping with radioactive goo. These are the cities where the shadows of the dead still line the walls, fires burn into the night of excess oil and petroleum, and the odd generator still powers an old Advertisement. These are the cities which have become infested with criminals, vagrants, spies, and new horros created by exposure to elements zero and radiation. These are cities which still store highly classified data, corporate files, and other much prized necessities which -in the wrong hands- can greatly harm Earth's reconstruction efforts. We took Earth back from the Reapers, but now it's time to secure it from anyone else who may try to abuse her. Anyway, general idea would be a series of RP's in various different locales across the Earth. It may be some are where several ships came crashing down, or a Radiation zone near an old Alliance Military base. I plan on leaving this open for anyone who is interested, but be mindful of whether or not your character would be recruitable for potentially high hazard military operations. I don't plan on having player deaths unless volunteered, but I will say that hard hours, bleak environments, and difficult working conditions await. And there are some surprises out there waiting. If anyone is interested, go on ahead and say and I'll gladly work to get you involved. I can be reached on the IRC as SummitB, or through PMs on the old boards to that account. I'll be glad to answer an questions if you have them. ![]() |

Quick little codex blurb for people who may be sitting on the fence and wanting more info. ![]() SATAE and the Earth Reclamation Initiative As the Systems Alliance began the agonizing process of rebuilding Earth, several facts quickly became clear. Even though control had been established in the major cities of Earth, many other population centers still remained as irradiated wastelands from Reaper assault. Inside these cities lay downed warships, unexploded ordinance, and other dangers which the Alliance had yet to properly dispose of. Furthermore, in the chaos and confusion following the war large amounts of criminal elements found themselves a haven in these abandoned cities, often acquiring themselves large quantities of military grade equipment from abandoned military installations. Lastly there was the threat of both radiation both Nuclear and Eezo, combined with tectonic damage from Reaper, many areas were rendered totally uninhabitable. Despite numerous warnings placed by SATAE and local authorities, millions of individuals began flocking back to their old homes, hoping to find some way of reclaiming what was lost. Oftentimes these civilian groups walked themselves unknowingly in high risk environments, quickly finding themselves enslaved or brought under control of independent warlords who had avoided Alliance attention. In other situations these resettlement colonies flourished, often becoming havens for anti-SATAE sentiment. In the eyes of the Alliance Commanders, the situation had to be grasped before anything could spiral out of control. Designed as a joint initiative between the Systems Alliance and the surviving planetary authorities, the Earth Reclamation Initiative sought to counteract any potential threats to the Systems Alliance, while also securing any interests that had not yet been reclaimed. Under the supervision of the recently formed Office of Special Activities, the ERI has begun the long, arduous task of ensuring Alliance control of the Earth. ![]() |

“Satters” and Reclamation Zones
![]() The origin of the term “Satter,” while still debated, is typically attributed as the groups of people who live in almost sattelite patterns around the ruins of Earth’s cities, or as an ironic combination of the term Settler and SATAE. These refugee groups are often made up of hardened survivors of the Reaper war, travellers with hardened survival and combat experience. With almost no contact between them, each and every “Satter” group varies immensely from one another. Some remain almost feral, believing that the present peace is actually a Reaper machination; others continue to move out of necessity, still searching for a proper place to settle down. Inside Satter groups one can find almost any background from any species. However, that does not stop these groups from being almost the foremost experts in survival and understanding of the Earth’s present state, many having witnessed such changes with their very own eyes. ![]() Reclamation Zones, on the other hand, were official areas typically founded by private interests in returning to their homes. Much like human colonies in space, these small outposts often sit just outside the ruins of cities, as they patiently await for the day they can truly return home. Typically protected by hired PMCs, or in rare cases Systems Alliance Marines, each reclamation zone can vary in population from a few thousand into the millions. Organization and supplies can vary, and some of the more frontier facilities are often nothing more than targets for slavers and pirates. Yet others have re-established municipal governments and some form of civil society, even to the point where cities have started and accomplished repairs far before any outside help has arrived. These two entities make up most of the population outside of Alliance controlled areas, banding together or competing in areas where the meet one another. Despite some conflict, human cooperation and common bonds has allowed these groups to find a way to survive, and even slowly start to flourish without Alliance support. ![]() |

Right, switching to the actual Narrative account for this now so you know what to look for. Glad I'm getting interest, and if anyone has any questions or ideas don't feel like you aren't welcome to contact me. Everyone who's volunteered so far looks good.
Also a new bit of information brief here. Just a quick blurb about the dangers of Radiation Zones. ![]() "Black Zones" or Radiation Zones “Just like home!” is how Gatatog Vorush described the irradiated wastelands that have sprung up across Earth. Whether through Reaper bombardment, Nuclear Fallout, or Element Zero exposure there are large pockets of territory still considered uninhabitable by SATAE. These are areas where Earth bears the scars of war hardest. Whether once cities like Adelaide or Hamburg or the areas surrounding military facilities, things seem very different as a whole. There are no birds, and even the wind sounds choppy and uneven. There are cracks in it Earth’s crust, and in some places even mountains have disappeared from the horizon. Entire sections of cities have disappeared beneath the Earth: swallowed by mudslides, sandstorms, or reclaimed by the seas. Those few things that still live there are twisted and contorted, mutations in the populations and even extreme cases of biotic abilities showing amongst wildlife. One scientist even described the Colorado Springs site as being “almost like a bad parody of a horror movie brought to life.” Evidence even seems to suggest that there is still some human habitation in these areas, based mostly off of information gleaned from Satters and research teams. Naturally these environments would be fatal for any humans without suitable protection, and has been dismissed as superstition and rumor by SATAE. Furthermore, the Rad zones have become home to large amounts of Krogan and Vorcha, who found themselves unable to leave the planet after the war and driven from human population centers. Since many of the Krogan disagree with the current path of their species, it is also not unfounded that many helped bolster the illicit activities that sprung up underneath SATAE’s nose. For many of those living in the reclamation zones, it isn’t an unfound sight to see a group of Kakliosaur mounted Krogan being the spearhead on attacks. Would there be room for a Vorcha as more than a bad guy? Having a Vorcha on earth, this seems like a good point to try playing him again, and being more learned than most Vorcha and less maurader mentality I can see him helping out either government forces, or as perhaps a defender/radiation-resistant scavenger for a Satter group or something.

As open as I'd like to do this, I just can't see a Vorcha being allowed in as a part of this. Most of these RP's will be under the control of Alliance Special Operations, and therefore it would be incredibly difficult to justify a Vorcha being present. AllSaintsDay wrote:If it's not terribly full already I'd like to throw my name in for consideration.
No, it's not full. Glad you can join us. For those interested. I would like to put in a request of a short little blurb on your character you will be using and why he or she decided to volunteer for this program. Nothing too specific, nothing too fancy, just a quick little summary that's basically "Why I'm here." Preferably you can also throw in a very brief biography as well. Trying to get this for accountability and planning purposes. I ask that you PM those to the SummitB account on the old forums. Thanks in advance. Hey no problem. I figured the only way he'd be able to get into this would be if there were non-government forces played as well. Vorcha are hard to fit into official capacities, especially on earth I would imagine.
Unfortunately I don't have any available humans at the moment. Well, unless I make another one... I'll think on it. AEGIS: Protection, Liberation, Vindication. We Help the Helpless |
