I kinda need advice, and ya be the best place I could think of

yeah, I know I'm kinda screwed, anyways

what would you do if, you found out that the life ya had, friends, family, believs like all disappeared or changes so much they aren't what they were.

like the place you grew-up has been evacuated, leveled and there's a big-ass extraction and reclamation plant set up
or that the mother of ya kids got hurt bad, ended up in a coma, and the kids are in a 'nurtering center' and they don't allow you to visit them 'cause she never registered you as the father
or that ya chieftain died and the next one who I always thought to be a barefaced polisher, turned politician and got an office for the administration

he fucking said I should consider joining the bootlickers! I don't know what I'm gonna do but I'm not doing that, if for no other reason that I might accidentally hurt one of them if I wake up and see one of them in uniform, ya know, out of habit

anyways, life got screwed up and I don't know what to do with myself, so advice

That's rough going. I don't have a lot of advice to give right out-of-claw (although I think you should give us bootlickers a try), other than try to tackle things one at a time. What problem do you feel is the most important?

I'm on a ship back to the citadel, and I should be able to bunk at the Touch, so there's that

I'm looking for more long term advice

and no I don't need to give it a try, you bastards know how to brainwash people

WavesHaveBroken This one is unsure what to place here. Greetings!
This one cannot comprehend the precise difficulties that have afflicted the other, in terms of either its current circumstances or its capacity to find peace within itself. Such tribulations are unique to the other's experience. This one feels, however, that the other has taken an important pulse in reaching out to its fellow beings with the desire to seek advice! Its humility and desire to achieve positive change are to be commended, for it has already identified its own capacity to grow and learn, and thus to better itself. It acts in the true spirit of one in which the light has been Enkindled.

This one does not know if that is helpful, but it wishes to express its sincere encouragement!

"I was blind, and I cannot say I had eyes to see the truth. I was a fool, and I cannot say I had sense to know the truth. I was lost, and I cannot say I could have found the truth. In the darkness, truth found me."

Long-term really depends on what you want to do. I don't want to sound dismissive, but a part of that advice is going to be move on. I think trying to keep in touch with your family will be really important, and hopefully your childrens' mother will come out of the coma. But in the long run you're not going to be able to dwell on this, and while I'm definitely not saying you should just abandon everything, you at least have to accept that it's changed.

Which leaves you with the question "what do you want to do?"

and no I don't need to give it a try, you bastards know how to brainwash people

Vindi will be the first to tell you I'm not so bad as you'd think! <3

I knew what I wanted to do but that's all gone, so I don't know what I want now, it's how do you know what you want?

There's two questions that come out of that. What did you want to do, and what do you enjoy doing?

Even though what you originally want to do can't happen now, it doesn't mean that there isn't a part of it that can't be found elsewhere. When I had my knee shot out, it meant that I couldn't run dropships for the Hierarchy Navy any more. But I was able to do it for the Lifebearers. I would never had considered it if I hadn't been shot, but then I looked at things slightly differently, and it ended up working out for the best.

I also did a little bit of work flying drones right before Taetrus, which used a lot of the same skills, and I was still (technically) flying.

Do turians care about genetic paternity or do you have to make a formal claim to the kid to have legal standing? Get yourself educated and get a lawyer and for god's sake no-one going to give you kids if you don't have some kind of formal job.

You're their father, and even if you're a secondary one you jump through hoops for them first.

I just wanne, do what I've been taught to do, go hunting 'n fishing, and punch or shoot hierarchy troops who go where they don't belong

Kinda hard when we're at peace

Capice wrote:I'm sorry, The Reapers left their mark everywhere. It's tragic what happened to their mother...
I knew you would show-up being smug and talking about stuff you don't understand, because you never bothered to ask and instead assumed stuff

she wasn't hit by the reapers, she got the little ones to safety when the fighting started, then she did her recon stuff, after the war she got a job at one of the plants, things went wrong
it only happened like three months ago.

spirits what's wrong with you, I just wanne see them, not have them or take them out, they could starve or get sick out there, and they get an education, 'kay they're also brainwashed but I can hope they'll come their senses when they get older
their mom did not do all this so that I would endanger them, yeah forget the lawyer, those kids stay there

...But there is a large part of me that is like, Schooling and Vaccinations! Goal~~~
why are you still harping about vaccinations, that's like long past, I'm sure the kids got their shots when they got to the nurturing center, I know I got mine at the clinic, made me sick half a day, maybe ya should quit living in the past

anyway, 'get schooling' is not enough, I wan'to hear more specifics, like what vocation should I follow, how do ya decide that kind of thing?

Yeah, I've got to agree with Palmer here.

And like you said yourself, we're all at peace. Any good Turian knows when the fight's over, win or lose.

There used to be an "expedition" travel place on Zakera. I don't know if it's still there now (I haven't been out that way in ages), but they used to arrange travel where you'd go out hunting exotic game on all sorts of different worlds. Maybe a job with them (or a similar company) might be interesting?

Didn't we have someone who ran one of those companies on the board before the War?

HereToHelp President of the Leaving The Ducts non profit organization.
If you want a fresh start it's entirely possible. A big part of my role at Leaving the Ducts is to find older kids who want to work a job, and in a post war economy where everything needs to be rebuilt, you got them everywhere (mostly planet side though). You can easily find work outside of the hierarchy, including unqualified work. There is construction, security, and I know organisms where you can learn the basics of a job if something else suits you.

If you want you can come at LTD, I have a list of employers who wouldn't risk hiring duct rats. Maybe one of them would be good for you.

I think if you manage to get a stable situation it'll be easier for you to reconnect with your child and provide for it.

Leaving the Ducts offer a training, support and professional opportunities to all Citadel Orphans.
We're based on Tayseri Wards, ask me information!
Donations are much appreciated.

You still want legal standing, then, unless you expect it to stay this terrible forever. If you register right now, they're still going to keep your kids ('cause everyone in the Hierarchy is doing this), but you'll be legal parent. If you show up five years later after causing them trouble they're going to ignore you.

Maybe they'd like to know they have a dad that's alive and cared enough to step up when their mom was incapacitated.

Sounds good but like I said I'm not allowed to take potshots at hierarchy goons anymore :(

You know, don't ever complain about them brainwashing her.

well, you 2 spend 20 hours at the customs and immigration office answering the same questions over and over and see if you don't want to shoot them too

I'll try and do that, but that hunting business will be my first stop

I don't wanne 'reconnect' with my kids (they're twins), there was never a connection to begin with, like I left before they were born I just wanted to see them for like five minutes.

ya do know she's married right?
to one of my best friends, who's still alive and loves his kids more than I ever could, because he's like their dad, ya get?
I don't want to 'claim' anything, i don't want them to have more shit to deal with, he has a job on the other side of the continent doing transport, last thing I wanne do is take something more from him

spirits, a guy is annoyed that he can't get a pic of the kids he fathered and ya two be are all about 'reconnecting' and 'legal parent'

and they call me combative

I don't know. If you're going to leave it off at a five minute visit then why even bother. I'd expect a secondary father to be at least as involved as a favorite uncle, if not more and...

Of course I'm combative, haven't you figured that out?

I have a little sister, but not by blood, lives with her grandparents (not my grandparents), and I...I am not going to agree with everything they do. I wish I had a legal leg to stand on instead of just being ignored all the time. Turian law has GOT to permit multiparent agreements. There is some mechanism for dealing with father/mother/stepfather triads without 'taking away' from anyone.

Heh. I will always want to do something.

I don't get more involved is 'cause their mom asked me to before they were even made
she fell in love with Fer, but he couldn't get any kids, so one thing lead to another, deals were made
