Posted on 2188-10-09 20:51:20Okay, so a just joined the forum very recently and in one of my posts I made a reference to an actual video game (not mass effect, the Sims)I tried to keep it in character by giving it a high sequel number and mass effect style add-ons. Someone politely informed me in an OOC that pop culture references are frowned upon. So, my question is, do I edit the post to remove the reference or do I leave it there and just quietly move on? Thanks for any constructive critique you may give me! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So, my question is, do I edit the post to remove the reference or do I leave it there and just quietly move on? Thanks for any constructive critique you may give me! Of course :) Well, first off. I'd just edit out the reference and replace it with something else. Something like say, Life Simulator or something... probably more creative than that. Its no big deal and we all make mistakes :) As for some more(probably much better) advice. I suggest reading this thread [=http://www.cerberusdailynews.com/valiant/forum/board/thread/?t=803]this thread[/url] since it has a lot of very good general RP advice and other things (also you don't have to use the OOC box in the OOC section of the forums :P) |

First off: heyo and welcome to the forums! It's always great to have new people!
Secondly: You're welcome, and probably encouraged, to edit it but honestly I wouldn't dwell on it. It's not exactly a huge, ginormous, "oh my god you suck so hard" type deal. Just something to remember for future posts. Thirdly: you don't have to use the OOC box for stuff in the VL, everything in the VL is OOC by definition :P. Oh and before I forget, fourthly: while you're by no means required to, if you ever need advice, are looking to set up or get in on an RP, or just want to talk with some of the other members here (they're alright guys I promise) feel free to hit us up on the IRC. Instructions are here. Edit: Goddamn ninjas. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. -Niccolo Machiavelli |

Either one works! I've honestly made tons of really dumb mistakes, and yours is really minor (And was fine until we decided that it was getting ridiculous and that we wanted some originality out of the stuff), I'd think of something vaguely similar sounding that could feasibly be a twenty-second century video game or movie or whatever and edit it in, but if you want you can just leave it as is.

All right, a minor name change and a lesson learned, thanks for the input
