At time of writing November will hit in just over twenty days. So my question to you, CDN, is who will be joining me in the literary madness of NaNoWriMo? Come on, everyone has at least one novel in them.

For the uninitiated NaNoWriMo refers to National Novel Writing Month, which is a somewhat unusual name since this is a worldwide event. The goal is simple: write a novel, 50k words, in one month. That comes to 1667 words every 24 hours. It's a surprisingly tricky thing to finish, but if ever there were a group of people used to coming up with a plot quickly and getting in written it would be you guys.

The NaNo site has forums to goof off in, get help with that tricky character or plot point, offer writing advice, and of course revel in running jokes like the traveling shovel of death. Pep talks from published authors help with the struggle each year.
So who's with me? This will be my fifth attempt to write a novel in a month. Hopefully my fourth success.
I'm always up for adding more writing buddies, so if you don't mind seeing a screen name that doesn't make me sound like a Drell you can find me as Sparky29252 over on NaNo.

If you need help, feel free to ask for advice here and I will offer what little advice I have

I'm still (slowly, oh so slowly) working my way through the novel I've been writing for the last year. I might have been a bit too ambitious with it, length-wise and in terms of plot, but I'm sticking to it. Hopefully the finished work will be decent; I look forward to finding out ;)

You make it sound fun, but I don't think the world is ready for 50,000 words of my hacked together English.

Still I highly encourage people with a better mastery of English to do it.

I might make a start on that fanfic I've been planning for the last year or so, but I doubt I'd be able to do that much. Still, might use it as a starting point.

Come on Diplomatic Immunity, you could do it. I've seen what you write on the forums in character and in RP threads. I suspect you could do a serviceable job of writing fifty thousand words of life on the Citadel. Besides no one has to see the novel.

Do it Vigilance, there are worse starting points and even if you don't finish just starting is a step in the proper direction. What's the fanfic idea?

WavesHaveBroken: you could be a nano rebel and use the time to expand on a previously started work. What's your novel?

I can see how 50 000 words may be a difficult frame for you Nasat... For you that's what? A prologue? :D

A friend and I teamed up and managed to hack out a decent (for a couple of teenage girls) novel back in high school for this. That said, that was way back when, and we had a blast...but I work full time now, am in the midst of wedding planning and unfortunately have barely enough time to scrape a few paragraphs out here and there :(

A sci-fi fantasy piece. It's the first draft of my first attempted novel, so naturally it's slow going, but with feedback from friends and family I think it's unfolding well enough. I've got the basic skeletal frame of the entire thing in place and now I'm putting the flesh on, chapter by chapter. I'm about a sixth of the way through. Like I said, I was probably over-ambitious but I'm going to stick with it.

This year for the first time I am tackling third person perspective, multiple POV characters and High(ish) fantasy for the first time. Should be interesting. Since it's about Golems I may sneak Legion in somewhere as a statue.

This is like a cult or something, one moment you are walking around, signing up on sites, and the next thing you know you're already involved in word wars, well Rakhana, challenge accepted. Observe as my word count and despair.

Well it will if I figure out what the story will be, otherwise it will be excerpts of the diary of Sklikos Gamic, at which point high word count is not a problem.

Well I signed up for NaNo. There's no turning back for me now. I'm most likely going to be writing a fanfic, so yeah, it will be interesting to see how it will work out.
