[CEF] New Telescope Array Launched in Phontes System.
Maria Velikova, ANN. Phontes System, Silean Nebula.Today, the Citadel Council has officially launched the Naruwafon Telescope Array in the Elcor home system, as part of its Citadel Exploration Fleet initiative. The Naruwafon Array is the 20th of the telescope array scattered across key Council systems. It was constructed with a great deal of help from the Elcor government, which had been expressing its desire to collabourate in the CEF initiative -and enjoy the benefits associated with participation- for a long time. Sasha Degas, member of the array's construction committee explained the project's importance. "These arrays are a vital part of the operations of the Exploration Fleet. They collect accurate data from an area spanning tens of lightyears around them. This astronomical data is then processed and any stars of interest, such as a resource-rich system or an isolated colony, are highlighted. Then, central fleet command draws routes through the flagged systems and CEF ships are sent along them. Without the arrays, we would be flying blind. Photes was the Best system due to its low cosmic radio pollution rates as well as the proximity to the Elcor homeworld, whose government has been surprisingly eager in assisting us. Degas went on to announce the beginning of the construction of two more telescopes in the outer edges of reclaimed council space but no references to specific locations were made. Almost surprising nobody has condemned that as not being a military related initiative yet.
Interesting enough we have kind of neglected our own neighborhood of stars while feeling content with what the relay network gave us access to. Maybe I get to see unexpected discoveries in and around my own home cluster! |

It really makes you wonder what we might have missed!
That's one exciting thing about this time. It's always been more convenient to just use the Relays, but now we have to actually explore what's closest to us through conventional FTL. |

The example of the Star of Athame proved what can be done by deep space ships. Maybe we asari have restricted ourselves to close range exploration and the relays too long, why not establish more distanced outposts? What's a year in transit if you really think about it?

Oh I am so glad to see all of that credits money being spent on something so worthwhile.
Not food. Not clothing. Not any of that for any remaining refugees clogging up the place oh no. Certainly not defense. Oh no let's waste credits on something frivolous like a telescope. We surely don't need that money anywhere else. |

Pariah, were you reading the article? We build telescope. Telescope finds cut off systems and resources. We reclaim colonies and resources. No, its not food or clothes or defenses, its people

It's full of stars! o.O |
Good to read some positive and productive news after all.

I assume - apart from the use when it comes to the colonies of course - we might make some most interesting discoveries within the next decade already. Guess after all the ability to find new things - even in our sophisticated age - might leave a positive impact on people. Which will take ages because relays don't connect to those systems. Which will expend resources. |

Which will take ages
An age is a relative term. |

For an asari. What may be a short time for you is a lifetime for the rest of us. blink wrote:

I wasn't aware this necessitated a new telescope when there are plenty already laying around. |

With all due respect, it's like wondering why we should send several persons to explore a planet when one is enough. Space is gigantic and the number of star systems to analyze is enormous. This telescope has a lot of work to do. Slaves4Us is here to help you! Contact us with your need, and we will fulfill them in no time!
