Talk faster
Because I am getting tired of having to listen to your slow, droning translators taking forever to say a basic statement. This isn't necessary. Especially when you already have to state your emotion (which is another basic statement that takes forever) or whatever before we get to what you want. It is driving me insane. Or someone please create an app for the elcor that makes them talk faster and without the soulless droning of a mech. |

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yoooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelf. This would take at least five full minutes to say in person. I would have probably just walked away before the actual insult because of the overly long emotion statement. |

Irritable: Don't you have better things to do than moan excessively about every slight inconvenience you experience?
With scathing intolerance: We are not going to rush ourselves for your sake, quarian, any more than you would talk at a more stilted pace for ours. Emphatically: Understand that the galaxy in general works at a pace best suited for you bipeds, a pace that's quite alarming to most elcor. Grudging acceptance: We are the minority, so that is simply the way it is. Haughtily: We adapt ourselves to your ways whenever we interact with you; you can surely put up with our speech patterns. Pointedly: The emotional statements are for your benefit anyway. |

I knew an elcor once that did this drug, made him go just as fast as everybody else. Why dont all elcore take it, shit seems like a void send to me

Way to be accepting of other's differences Pariah... Being a synthesist isn't doing the trick anymore, you're moving into regular racism now?

Its not a 'slight' inconvenience. Especially when you have to deal with an elcor co-worker day in, day out. With scathing intolerance: We are not going to rush ourselves for your sake, quarian, any more than you would talk at a more stilted pace for ours.
And this is the problem. Haughtily: We adapt ourselves to your ways
No you don't! That's the problem. You don't adapt. You sound like an outdated VI, you move at the sluggish pace of a dying skycar, and you need a virtual intelligence to tell you what to do in combat situations because you are too damn slow and its only because you are built like a freighter that you aren't shot to pieces Pointedly: The emotional statements are for your benefit anyway.
Sarcasm: They are really helpful. They mean you are great liars. HereToHelp wrote:Way to be accepting of other's differences Pariah... Being a synthesist isn't doing the trick anymore, you're moving into regular racism now?

I don't want them to do drugs, you idiot. I just want someone to make better translators that can actually show emotion so I'm not talking to a VI that sounds like it is dying. |

Im not talkin bout an illegal drug darling, it was some legitimate stimulant that boosted their well, everything. Though, if I have any takers, I do know a couple of substances that can make an elcor buzz around like a Salarian.

Its not a 'slight' inconvenience. Especially when you have to deal with an elcor co-worker day in, day out. Disdainfully: However do you cope? With mockery: Your co-worker has to deal with you day in, day out. I believe I know which provokes the more sympathy. With scathing intolerance: We are not going to rush ourselves for your sake, quarian, any more than you would talk at a more stilted pace for ours.
And this is the problem. With mounting irritation: You are welcome to disregard every sensible instinct you possess and fight against your own sense of normalcy in order to please us, if you wish. Do not expect the same in return. Didactic disapproval: By this point you should have learned that other races will think and act differently from yours. It is irritating, but it is the way of things. Annoyance: Most everyone else in the galaxy manages to deal with it. Haughtily: We adapt ourselves to your ways

You sound like an outdated VI, you move at the sluggish pace of a dying skycar, and you need a virtual intelligence to tell you what to do in combat situations because you are too damn slow and its only because you are built like a freighter that you aren't shot to pieces Dismissive: I'll be sure to risk breaking my limbs by skipping along at a speed more suitable to your tastes. Hints of anger: I find quarian suits cumbersome and annoying, because I can't smell anything through them. Kindly take yours off next time you speak with an elcor. Pointedly: The emotional statements are for your benefit anyway.
Sarcasm: They are really helpful. They mean you are great liars. Tiredly: Are you suggesting that all elcor are liars, that your co-worker in particular is a liar, or that you are so inherently distrustful that you dislike having to take someone at their word? Pointedly: The purpose of a translator is to enable the most effective communication. Programming it to misrepresent everything you say would seem to defeat the purpose. Irritated: What motive would someone have to lie about the tone in which they intended a statement to be registered? Affected amusement: You speak through a vocalizer, do you not? How do we know you're letting us hear what you really intend? Isadore wrote:I knew an elcor once that did this drug, made him go just as fast as everybody else. I don't want them to do drugs, you idiot. I just want someone to make better translators that can actually show emotion so I'm not talking to a VI that sounds like it is dying. Haughtily: I'm not convinced that all the emotions even translate between our species. I've never believed that the required information could be conveyed effectively through a single channel. |

Isadore wrote:I do know a couple of substances that can make an elcor buzz around like a Salarian.
Bluntly: You still seem to be under the assumption that the pace of the elcor is somehow a disability or a weakness, and that we would want to increase it. For us to move and think at your pace... would be dangerous. With emphasis: For us. For you. Tiredly: Every species that I know of can use medicinal plants to experience altered states of consciousness. They don't do it all the time because the optimal consciousness for the species is the one they already experience. Emphatically: To us, speed equals danger. |

Synthesist isn't even a word Yes it is. It's not the right word, but it does exist. Means someone who synthesises, or plays a musical instrument with a synthesised output. Pariah wrote:I don't want them to do drugs, you idiot. I just want someone to make better translators that can actually show emotion so I'm not talking to a VI that sounds like it is dying.
ExasperatedWe do show emotion. You just can't detect it with your biology, which isn't our fault. Demonstrative You know when an asari smiles or a human does that thing where they stick their thumbs in the air? I see that as "HOLY SHIT I LOVE EVERYTHING IN THIS ROOM LET'S ALL BE FRIENDS YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY". Irritated And do you think we haven't already thought about how to make better translators to make things easier for aliens to understand us? You'd need full-body coverage and something to analyse pheromones just to catch everything. Expensive shit. Purposeful emphasis Really fucking expensive shit. Considering that it would a. by definition, be for elcor you seeping bladder of raw stupidity and b. when it comes to an elcor discussing the difficulties inherent in elcor-specific niche tech I'm more inclined to believe her than the krogan who still can't string two coherent sentences together I don't exactly see how what you're saying has any connection to this thread or, indeed, reality itself. Did it not also eventually burn out the pheromone glands, as the elcor was still 'talking', but at a much faster rate? |
