"Your suit is so pretty"

For every person that seems to have some 'clever' racist remark about me. There seems to be just as many people who have to compliment the thing. Saying all sorts of things I find repugnant.

That thing is of course "I love your suit! Its so pretty!"

Please stop. Its offensive. Its stupid. And every time one of you says this I want to lock you in one for for a few decades and see how you feel about it then.

Would you prefer that people would call your suit ugly?
Someone tries to make you a compliment and find a way to turn it into another reason to wallow in self-pity.
I mean, for all the legitimate reasons you have to be add odds with the universe, people trying to be nice to you shouldn't be one.

They are just trying to be polite. And it isn't as though they would compliment your attitude.

They are being 'nice' out of ignorance. Do you compliment a slave's collar?


The fabric (the very expensive fabric you can't afford mind you) is to help distract and draw your eyes away from the suit. So compliment that part instead. It isn't rocket science.


And I am trying to help them be polite. So I don't really see the problem here, or with my attitude.

Then take the suit off! That'll shut 'em up.

Would you not feel offended if they delicately avoided mentioning the suit? Perhaps in excess?

How does one go about it then? If I wish to compliment a quarian's accouterments, shall I say it compliments the profile of her body the suit suggests, or perhaps that I would love to see her wearing them without the suit at all?

I miss the days when a quarian's suit reflected the choices they made and their taste in quality and design, when there was a market for them, and they had options.

Pariah, I can see where you're coming from, but you should try to see them as the (for the most part) compliments that they are. Besides, when they say 'pretty', they probably are talking about the way that you've decorated it, what with the expensive fabrics and such.

But really, I can understand issues with complimets for outwardness. I don't share them, but I can understand them. A complement even if given in good faith can sometimes enhance the disproportianly picture of what the person sees as a flaw.

Out of curiosity, how's the dancing going, are you getting compliments for that too and how do you handle those?

Can I say that I'd like to see the beautiful face and body behind the suit or is that racist as well? Is there anything beautiful about quarians at all?

As much beauty as a quarian would find in a human.

Very little.

Oh, now now, there's no need to be so insulting. Quarians can be quite beautiful under their suits, and it is a privilege for any non-quarian to ever see what lays inside. Their bodies are dissimilar to humans in many ways, yes, but that means very little when their personality, their mind, their very being makes their elegant body even more wondrous. Yes, yes, quarians can be quite beautiful indeed, make no mistake.

Ideally I would rather people compliment me over things that are not physical in nature. Especially since I get enough "What do you look like!?" comments already. Its grating and having to deal with perverts with some quarian fetish is not something I like doing.

Then they should mention the expensive fabrics and not the suit. Constantly reminding me of my disability is doing them no favors at all.


My time for dancing is limited these days and I really don't want to hear the compliments from the type of people who frequent clubs. Its always something obnoxious like some drunk turian "hey babe, you got nice legs" and then trying to dance with me. No one on this station respects anyone's privacy or desire to be left alone anymore.


Considering there is a lot of importance in one's face, it is highly offensive to be asking about mine. So yes. It is offensive.


And not for 300 years.

The clothes accentuate your body very well.

Your suit is hideous and you should feel ashamed of yourself for subjecting innocent eyes to its horrors. Feel better?
