Birthday Present Ideas

It's my partner's birthday this week- Specifically Wednesday, and I've yet to get her anything. Does anyone know of any suggestions?
I'm on the Citadel, can anyone recommend any shops and such? I wanted to get something personable, but I'm not sure. I've got a price range within the 150-300 credit range, not including the flowers and other items I've already bought.

Does she have hobbies? A lot of hobbies involve equipment of some kind in the 150 to 300 credit range.

Well, she cooks professionally, outside of that, she's usually working on something in the kitchen or studying new recipes.
She's .. been very focused for the last year or so, trying to keep her mind off of her family. She used to have hobbies.
Now I think she's just on autopilot half of the day.

Get her something she could use for one of her old hobbies, something the two of you can do together.

Buy a skydiving trip. I know you can already see the earth in full from some parts of the citadel, but it's fantastic, exciting and fun. Cheap ones might be less then 300 creds, excluding transport.

We both work, Mombasa, with her running a company. A vacation may be out of bounds.

Maybe the key is in those hobbies she used to have. Can you think of any you could reconnect her with?

She was into gardening, movies and hiking. There's a community garden on the Presidium, and I don't know.
She's relatively stable now and I'm REALLY afraid of sending her into a down-and-out again by opening old wounds.

Do you ladies had a special moment during a movie or linked to gardening? Like how you met, or your first date?

I'm very sorry if I seem nosy, but something that recreates a better time for her would probably make the best present.

For example for my former mate's birthday I recreated our first date. I rented a private screening of the movie we saw, and had a few company slaves bring us her favorite dish I had prepared myself (my boss was a willing accomplice in this). We were alone in the theater with the food and the movie...

Anyway she loved it so I would advise something like that.

How about a play? The grand Citadel Acting Troupe is in the middle of a production of "Broken Wheels" right now. Supposed to be amazing! Or maybe the Symphony, or tickets to a UCL game, or something? Just having quality time together can make all the difference in the world on someone's birthday.

Our first date -WAS- to a theater..

Anything special about that first date? Something silly that made you both laugh for instance? Something to remind such an event could score some major points.

Well, it's old history at this point. We met first at a banquet hosted by her family. I was there with my mother and brother, and we were in civilian-mode like you wouldn't believe, mingling with fat fats in Milgrom. We met by chance at the mixer and after about an hour of conversation, we'd pretty much hit it off, she asked if I wanted to go to a local play with a few friends of hers-

I was the odd one out, but I hardly cared. I was far more interested in her than the trite one-act about a former Systems Alliance president and his wife. We had a good time, she called me back, we had a bar crawl two weeks later and we've been together since, for the last eight years. Sorry for rambling on an on.

Najhil never really understood the Purpose of celebrating the Anniversary of One's Birth.

Regardless, how about new Kitchen Supplies? Or a good Book?

Nahjil, I know you're still relatively new to galactic culture, so ..let me try- Birthdays are celebrations of a person's continued health, survival, longevity, lots of things. You throw parties and festivities of varying sizes, depending on the person.
It's an excuse to give someone you like a gift and to tell them how much they mean to you.

Not sure on the gift itself, but adding a little message, a poem or letter on a card and somesuch is always a nice touch. There is a nice site (here) where you can personalize our own holocard. Used it myself recently (no, not for you vohk. Don't worry)and was very happy with the result. Very relaxing to get creative once in a while.

Najhil has been off of Turvess for nearly four Years. Najhil knows about Birthdays. Najhil just never saw a real Purpose to the Celebrations. Seems like a Waste of Time and Resources, of which there are precious little these Days.
