Query: What are your fears? Your expectations in life? Do you feel that these sentiments affected the direction of your adult livelihood? If you have no fears (or are otherwise unwilling to admit them), why do you think that is?

A recent conversation brought this subject to my interest. In a post-war environment, these states of mind may have a great affect on the populace at large. Further research could provide better mental and emotional care of traumatized patients.

This has been a query courtesy of Revenant Corp. All responses are public and subject to adhering laws.

My fears?

I'm not afraid of anything at all. There are other posters on here that would eat you alive if you show one sign of vulnerability or weakness or mock you relentlessly.

I expect that this week will go along normally with little upset or change in my schedule. My wife goes to work, I go for a jog and box at the gym, I come back and watch HV and post on here, she comes back and the day relatively ends.

My ..future expectations are that I'm going to be seeing a better therapist. The current one can't really do much more and he's already on the way of recommending me to a colleague. I'm probably going to be put on another line of antidepressants.

I'm getting very good at boxing.

I would discourage posters from refraining due to the threat of juvenile aggression.

Your response is appreciated, Ms. Burke.

My fear? Well, being buried alive. And my expectations? I dunno, rise to a seat of moderate power while not ending up behind some desk, making a decent pay, dying before I get old.

If I tell you what I'm afraid of then someday somewhere when I least expect it I'll be kidnapped off the street taken to a filthy warehouse and you'll inflict whatever I fear most on me while laughing like a Dirk Black villain.

So I'm afraid of being assaulted with cuddles and love by small furry animals.

And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.

Frightening.

My fears? One day, the leg augments lock up and I fall over in the street in front of a Mako.

Expectations? Exactly that.

It's weird - after the war and that whole business with King Bastardface Marcus Koren, nothing really scares me any more.
Apart from the slim possibility of a repeat performance.

Fears? That something will happen to my kids (God be thanked that Shiori is healthy and only a little small after everything that happened). That Hope will want to join the SAMC when she's older. That I'll be discharged earlier than I want. That the Reapers will finish what they started.

Expectations? That my wife will want to return to her job someday. That Shiori won't stop crying tonight until I take her for a drive because there's this one hour that seems to displease her. That Hope will continue her quest to get me to buy her more toys. That I'll be behind a desk for the rest of my career.

I think that my fears and expectations are somewhat linked to my job. The Marines is a lifestyle as well as a job.

Darkness, sudden movement.

Expectations...before the war, I'd probably have said marrying a nice woman, getting a house back on Earth, and having a kid or two. Now? Well...I hope to at the very least die of natural causes, and not from a mugging gone wrong or something equally ignominious.

PrayerForTheDamned You know what sucks about being in space?

NOTHING!
Fears: Underground bases.

Expectations: I expect to continue existing until I no longer do so.

Has this effected by adult life? Well I'm not going into mining any time soon, but then again I didn't intend to to begin with so I suppose not.

Fears: The unknown; that which cannot be controlled or predicted. Greklon is actually one giant super-continent surrounded by an even bigger ocean, and teems with various forms of aquatic life, many of which were still being discovered prior to the Reaper War. Since colonisation began, there were tales of a great being beneath the waves that lived the deepest reaches of the ocean, emerging only to prey on the fishermen of Greklon's ports. Superstitious folklore obviously, but the thought still sends shivers down my spine.

Expectations: To get my fucking world back.
