Alright, I survived. I've moved back to the Citadel (giant, incomprehensible piece of Reaper Tech that it is), where I'm attending College classes. They're pretty awesome.
More awesome is helping run our chapter of Accountability (CitTruth wasn't accurate, anymore, it's about way more than what happened here). In short, we told you so, and the fact that our governments failed to anticipate the Reaper threat (or to prepare adequately, or to tell us the truth, or whatever) was completely unacceptable. The problems that caused those failures are still in place. So start complaining. We're linking to a few petitions this week. [This One] demands a complete overhaul of Citadel AI policy, which will give Geth and Quarians a lot more freedom of movement. [Defund the STG]-exactly what it says, they have a lot of ways of getting money, shame they can't be trusted with it. And maybe they'd get around these restrictions, but we can at least make them work for it. [Fund the Recovery Office]-they need money to work through the giant, giant backlog of identifications, the disposal of cremated remains in a RESPECTFUL manner, and produce an accurate death count for the Citadel Hijacking. The petitions are restricted to Citadel dwellers, but no matter where you live, you should get involved. Drell-Persistent Utilizer re: Exhaustive Rhetorical Analysis in Service of Perceived Advocacy. I already added my name to the third one.
The first....I'm still considering the first. I agree with some of the basic points (quarian and geth freedom of movement), but I'm still a bit on the fence about the rest of the AI law. The geth weren't made as AI, they evolved, so they should be the exception...the rest? I kinda liked it where it was. It is a terrible, anti-synthetic policy and every time it's come up for debate, people have pointed at the Geth as like, the ur-example. I don't see how they can be an exception. But thanks for signing the other petition. Drell-Persistent Utilizer re: Exhaustive Rhetorical Analysis in Service of Perceived Advocacy. Thane Krios Memorial Foundation |

I meant they should be the exception to most laws currently governing AI - unlike 99% of AI in the galaxy, Geth evolved from VI platforms (if I'm remembering my history right), and a good portion of citadel AI laws involving regulation and restriction deal with AIs that are built to be AIs (if that makes sense)
I'm fine with giving the geth the benefit of the doubt...for the most part, considering they were shooting up my boyfriend for awhile, but to apply it so broadly, to other AI and all? That's where I'm on the fence. Though, of course, it's late and and law isn't exactly my thing, so I could be misinterpreting/misunderstanding. So...you're trying to get the STG to lose its funding with an extranet petition.
Yeah. Good luck with that. Behind every Huntress is an even better salarian. |
BlueFroggy987 Four year old salarians are far more mature than you might think from you longer lived people. |
Hey! Hey! The STG should be funded, but they shouldn't be under control of the Dalatrass system. They should be under an independently owned and operated system separate from the Dalatrasses. Because frankly, most Dalatrasses know jack about warfare, and the STG needs to be under military supervision.
Yes. Military Supervision. With some civilians keeping an eye on their activities. We will not be silenced. Wait... right. I'm about 5th in line for the head of my clan... Anyway, donated my allowance toward the final thingy. relief funds are necessary. Though I better see a return on my investment within two years! (Doesn't have to be anything big. A cake would be nice.) I have this sound loaded into my omni-tool. Please play it on maximum volume. |

Right, because the STG isn't already a shrelling branch of the military. Yes. Military Supervision. Behind every Huntress is an even better salarian. |

good news, it already works like that. Yes. Military Supervision. With some civilians keeping an eye on their activities. N4 Operations Chief Stefan Urbanski |

Well I've gotta admit I still have a lot of respect for the CitTruthers for calling this. I've signed my name to the This One and Defund the STG petitions. Honestly we all need every hand we can get so screwing over the Quarians and Geth seems pretty stupid to me. While the STG...there's a lot of things I don't trust and military intelligence agencies not hemmed in by anything is one of them.
But, I can't go for the Recovery Office right now. Given just how much damage there is to repair among the living, respecting the dead is going to have to sadly wait. |

Sure, I'll sign that shit. Just a question though about the Geth one. Compared to now, what additional freedoms would they receive? They're already allowed a fair amount of movement already, aren't they?

Yeah, good luck with the first and third petitions (seriously), and good luck with the second (sarcastically).

'Defund the STG'.
Dear spirits, that is hilarious. Yeah, I know, I think that if people actually made a stink (the petition being only a small, teeny part of possible activism) they could get rid of a shitty insitution. The modern STG was not handed down by the gods. They are not Reapers. I sign petitions, but I also won't buy from companies with STG ties, I attend meetings, organize protests, donate to the cause on the very very rare occasion I have extra money (I live on my benefits-injured in London) and you do...what, exactly? That's adorable. Do you honestly think the STG advertises all of the companies with which it has ties?
No, but I think a lot of activists have spent a lot of time trying to track that shit down. Not even close to perfectly, but there's a nice middle ground between perfection and giving up. And I was right the last time, wasn't I? Drell-Persistent Utilizer re: Exhaustive Rhetorical Analysis in Service of Perceived Advocacy. Thane Krios Memorial Foundation |

Being right "the first time" does not give you monopoly rights on Truth - a point I'm sure you were happy making before the War.
