It’s BlastoCon® Day!

Okay, fellas, I know all of you “hate Blasto so much” obviously (wink wink, I understand, you tough merc guys will just never admit) so I thought I should share some of my impressions of the first annual Blasto Con. (and to be honest I just need a vent for my exuberance – so be my guest). I am going to indulge totally into fangirlism because that’s about the only way to have fun at these events anyway.

It’s a perfect day and I am on my way now – typing as I sit in the skycab. I am so excited!

Daia got me a special backstage pass and so I can cut the lines. And I do expect long ones because today there already will be three of the big stars around!
Blasto himself (I get this tingling all over!!!!!!), Riina Lemar, who plays Cerulean Star and Bubin, but I heard, he’s a bit of a shy guy, so let’s see if I can find him somewhere. He is just there but won’t have a panel today.

The big panel today is Blasto and Riina/C.Star, there also is a smaller one called “the Blast effects”, by two people of IE’s special effects department.

Tomorrow will be Bubin and his sister Honey but I won’t be able to attend that… First, I only have a one day ticket and second, there is one thing even more important than BlastoCon, that’s that pildavi viewing event at Apricity!

I am right at the entrance of New Anyelis Centre!
It is amazing to see the crowds… and to be able to use a staff only entrance (xxx to you Daia).
Btw, lots of the new Irati VIs all over the centre, guiding the people.

Some really good and some … “not so great but you tried at least” costumes in sight! I have already seen a couple of kids wearing hanar hats with the tentacles obstructing their view… cuuute. A lot of families…. Now, is Blasto good family entertainment? That’s a question for a panel.

Oh, did I mention: I actually got me that “CDN: enkindle THIS!” T-shirt and Blasto is gonna sign it! Yes, if you guys like it or not ^_^

Main hall. It is just /stuffed/! So many people already on the first day and everyone has credits to spare. The oddest thing I have seen so far is a Blasto holo VI that is cracking one liners. Nothing I’d put in a kids room unless you want it to talk like “this one does not care for your inadequate food preparation arts. This one wants candy”

There is a vendor that sells Cerulean Star lingerie! I am going to check that out!

I am actually watching a few people's feeds for this.

This one won't make me explode with jealousy, so let's have it. I'm curious if there's anything on display from the comics or the prequel animated shorts, or if it's just the movies?

I bought really conservative stuff! A couple of posters and another T-shirt and a really sweet panty/bra combination with Ceruleans logo. I was thinking about getting a Blasto toothbrush for a second….

You won’t believe the new merchandise ideas IE is throwing at us! Blasto lamps (yes, guys, for real! Full life size for the living room! “to enkindle your home!”) the weirdest thing I saw was a Honey/Bubin’s sister as an inflatable (!!) sofa. That’s just…. Wrong.

Well, I have not checked the comics yet but i have seen a new line of novels will be released.

a very odd encounter... I just saw these three guys straight from the “bad costume idea” department while grabbing some food. Here:



If that chick wouldn’t carry that bag I’d call in air support – or at least security (they wear uniforms with a C-Sec logo, meaning Con Security in this case)

I got myself a Cerulean Star sandwich and a Chief’s salad. Now just grab a Collectors Edition Enkindled Springs Lemonade bottle and you are ready to go!

Okay, more stupid merchandise stuff discovered: a beach ball in the shape of Chief (I can see the volus scream “racism” already) and a "Blasto, the floating island" inflatable thing.
Lot’s of hot air… but the prices are hot!... oh, there, a kid just talked his mum into the beach ball!

That is so awesome.

I peeked into the special effects panel!

Really interesting. They are talking about the animations and how they create the nice designs and presented a few dismissed ones.

Oh, just now they show some footage from the upcoming new movie… wow, some deep sea mecha thing that battles Blasto under water! This looks amazing!

...'kay, gotta admit, I'm a little bit jealous. :) But not in a bad way, glad you're having fun out there. (BTW, I told Tol Madan about the beach ball, and he laughed himself silly.)

I think that's Gary the Stunt Guy in the turian costume, it looks like him.

Don't know if you've heard (I can imagine IE's trying to keep it from becoming a major topic in the actual convention grounds), but about an hour ago there was a leak of the first chapter of one of the Blasto novels, and it's... well, hopefully it's some kind of mix-up, but it doesn't look good, it's just riddled with inaccuracies. Vorcha not having a Citadel embassy, a reference to humans trying to revive Christmas as if Blasto hadn't saved it, Bubin forgets to say 'Badassfully' at least once per page, you get the picture...

Okay, I had a drink now (Starburst, double at the C-sec bar on level D)

That was it, I could meet Blasto and Riina just before they were going to have their panel and they are sooooo nice!

Oh the Jelly is living up to its reputation and he is so approachable! Not that I have that much close up experience with hanar but I’ve met some and this one (ha, pun) had no personal space issue for sure!

Riina is a bit smaller than she appears in the movies and kind of exuberant but nonetheless charming and fun. I even got as daring as to ask if something was cooking between the two (I could see the IE manager flinch on that!) but I was told to tell you all:

“This one does not deliver lengthy prose to the public about performing physical contact of respiration orifices”

A simple “no comment, sweety”, was all Riina had to say.

Well guess who I just met by chance backstage! Bubin from C-Sec!

He was like: hey, nice T-Shirt. Cosmic Dating Network. What’s your handle there, babe?

Not so shy after all, that guy! I did explain to him what /this/ CDN is though. He’s so cool!



Little secret: he told me we will see him again in the next movie! He’s been called from retirement to fight a mysterious phantom menace alongside Blasto and Cerulean Star… oops spoilers! I hope nobody from IE reads this.

That was that, a day of enkindling fun at the BlastoCon®. I admit, I am a bit overdosed right now and need a bit of relaxation. And I must sort my newly acquired stuff!

So, that’s it, I am going home now, but not without a special greeting to Capice!
