We stand and greet the dawn.
Skylight, first protector, most venerable of speakers, make your presence known upon the hul’dekuu. In mother’s blood, in father’s scent, in song and step we honour you. Strength and wisdom to the hul’dekuu. Strength and wisdom to the herd. The future, to honour with our name, as the weight of memory, we honour with our song. Eternally, I stand among and of you, great one. Only hide and heart above millennia of earth and strain, soul of metal, gut of ash. Streams of iron, heart of iron. Source below us, sky above us. Always dreaming, never seeking, the eternal restless slumber of your years. And still I stand among and of you, great one. Always dreaming, never seeking, the eternal restless slumber of your years. HUL’DEKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU |

Moderate embarrassment: I'm sorry if that startled anyone. It's difficult when there aren't other elcor around; none of my tradition, anyway.
With intent to clarify: I had hoped that any Ghorsuulan who post or even lurk here would join me. It gets lonely, and being alone isn't good for us. Wary: It makes us feel less secure, and sometimes that can lead to unfortunate lapses in judgement. Defensive: Each morning I perform the Massing. I have done this every morning since my earliest years on the homeworld. With wistful pride: It is a comfort and a duty. Tightly apologetic: This is somewhat embarrassing, but these things aren't meant to be done alone. I trust you understand. |

What's this Massing stuff do, exactly? D'you do it all at once with other, uh, Ghorsuulan, and become one and all that?

Explanatory: We greet the dawn. The group rises as one to give thanks to the sun and the earth, and for being present at the start of a new day. We are already “one”, but, yes, it strengthens community ties also.
With reverence: It is one of our oldest traditions. Wistful: This can’t do it justice. Even if others were to join me here in days to come, it wouldn’t be the same. It’s just words here; it would be to you like lyrics without music. Moderate Frustration: Being away from the homeworld, away from the group, it can be difficult to deal with. Habit, and something a lot deeper, causes me to do this. I observe the Massing. Always. I'm sorry if it caused alarm. |

hey slowandsteady, that was a bold move!
I visited Dekuuna a couple of times (liked it more each time!) and have seen the massing in real. I actually think my neighbor on Nevos, who's an elcor diplomat is doing something similar tgether with his daughters each morning. There is an asari thing called greeting of the morning tides. I have never asked him about it but I believe he came up with a culture mix for the family. I hope he is still doing it, since his bondmate died and he is alone with his kids now. I feel a bit sorry for you and I hope you can connect to fellows here or on the Citadel. ![]() |

Respectful: Thank you both for your understanding. It's appreciated in these trying times.
Formal: Are there any leads on the matter we discussed prior, Ms. Rondor? Carefully apologetic: I don't mean to place pressure on a busy charity, and I'm aware your work touches the lives of many, but you're perhaps the best source of potential information I have, considering the circumstances. |

Proudly: I concur. With tradition comes power, wisdom, and discipline. You do your Ghorsuulan brothers a great service. |

Pleased acceptance: My fellow countrymen, your understanding and support in this matter is greatly reassuring. Thank you. Slight frustration: It will be some time before I return to the homeworld. I have business to attend to here on the station, business that I'm truly committed to. I don't regret my decision to stay; I know that in the long term it will make the eventual return more satisfactory. Regretfully: It remains difficult, though.
