Right. This is probably the last place I should look for any advice, but I don't think that I should talk to my CO about this right now. Anyway. I'm not a Palaven girl, I was born on a colony. Won't say which one, but it's a colony that hasn't come back in contact over the past year. My parents, my siblings, and my family friends were there. Suppose my cousins and aunts and uncles were too, but I never really met them or spoke with them much.
Now... I know that on the Citadel there are some people from my colony. Nobody I'd know, but they have a little community. The only issue is, the community is associated with some people who are a part of a Separatist movement back home. There's been conflicts between them and the Hierarchy every so often, and my parents apparently were actually a part of the movement before they moved away and had me and my siblings. I'm a loyalist through and through. C-Sec kinda means I have to be. I just... I guess I miss home. Even if they are a part of this Separatist group, maybe visiting them could be a piece of home.... Or I could be overthinking it. So CDN, what do you think I should do? |

As someone who lost her home, I can tell you that I would give anything to have even a small piece of my colony back - which is definitely going to color my advice to you, so take that how you will.
Go. See what happens - even if things turn out bad, you'll never be left with the regret of 'what if?'. Right now, the last thing on anyone's mind should be who was or is a 'Sepper' and who's a 'Loyalist'. My father had a saying, one that I've told this board before: En guerre, tout le monde saigne. In war, everyone bleeds. Sepper, loyalist, vigilante, innocent. It's a part of your home. Who cares what side anyone is on? Hey, family's family. Shouldn't matter if they're sepper or loyalist. Granted, I'm from Gothis, so I'm slightly biased towards the former anyway.
Mind me asking, what colony you from? |

Everyone needs something to belong to, beyond of being a citizen of the big H. Give them a try, don't start talking politics and enjoy the company. It's not like you got anything to lose here, right?

I guess it depends how much it offends you. Gods know I'm wrestling with my own version of this but whatever.
If you're asking because the group has a reputation here, well, they are. Some of them are super cool-insanely cool, as people-but they let gun-runners and terrorists join in as members of the community, and it's slanted towards the backwards part of the planet. And if they don't want me to say that they can stop doing it. Drell-Persistent Utilizer re: Exhaustive Rhetorical Analysis in Service of Perceived Advocacy. Thane Krios Memorial Foundation |

It's not Macedyn or Solregit, or is it? My condolences in either cases.

If you really want to go home... then go. I'm not one to offer great advice here, because I haven't been home in years (and "years" are somewhat larger chunks of your life when you're one of us, you know?), but then I've made my decision and I'm sticking with it. I think you need to do the same. And to be honest, if you're asking the way you are (and on this forum, at that), it seems to me that you're leaning towards going, and it's because you really want to. So go. Even if it's dangerous. You... you don't want any regrets, is what I'm saying.

OK like there's this place my friend Amanda found, I'll ask her what it's called again, and maybe we can all go out and get burgers and shakes. I am sure they serve both churalitees.

Solregit? I'm assuming the group you are referring to is the Sundowner clan on Denakot?
If so, last I've heard they and the Hierarchy had agreed to a truce, so I wouldn't think it should be an issue to approach them, especially if family is involved. Sergeant Lynn Conway, C-Sec Special Response Unit Cymru am Byth |

The Sundowner community in Denakot? Honestly, I think it'd be worth going down there - even if it turns out it's not like you're hoping, doesn't really give you the comfort of somewhere like home, you lose nothing by trying, right? And given the ongoing lack of communication... well, it's worth a shot, if it does fill that void, even if only a little, that's a significant thing.
I haven't been there (or to the Citadel at all) since the war, and I'm sure it's not like I remember, but I know the Chieftain (a little), I can't imagine it's that different. I know it's easier in these sorts of situations for asari with turian fathers, compared to actual turians - whatever our upbringings and political leanings, we tend to get a free pass on a lot of issues when we're mixing with turians, since it's easy to think of us as alien and uninvolved, at least personally, in whatever said issues may be - but I'm a Hierarchy girl (only Tier 1, the subset for us daughters who are 'half turian' by parentage, but in a couple hundred years or so I'll do my service and rate a 3), the Hierarchy matters to me, and I never felt uncomfortable, or confronted, during my visit, or since then. I mean, I'm sure there are people who would make a point of it, but there are people like that anywhere, in any group, or organisation - for that matter I'm sure there are people in C-Sec you'd rather take a double patrol shift than have to have lunch with. They're not the majority, not from what I saw. And if it's anything like it used to be, it's not just buildings and people, it's a community - maybe not just like home, but perhaps something like it, if you follow. Whatever you choose, good fortune to you, and I hope you find solace. ![]() |
