Combined Arms

So, as a long time player of this simulation, I thought it best to share it with you guys. So the basic premise is that it was designed for use by the Hierarchy to train officers in Simulated wargames, but then the developers got permission to commercialize their own version. The simulator is basically a core game that gives you a corvette and a fighter for each faction in the game for free with Modules that you pay for, from ground armored vehicles to infantry, to Cruisers, and up to fleet command elements. It's everything from a Real Time Strategy game to a first person shooter, with every player in a server (locked to certain regions of space to prevent latency troubles) interacting in their roles.

Let's say there's a salarian who commands an entire fleet. He orders it to attack a planet, where Cruisers deploy troop transports, fighters etc. and engages the enemy fleet in space. Then the corvettes and fighter players attempt to complete their objectives against the enemy players. Then the ground force arrives and you have infantry leaders and armored commanders ordering their troops around (All players) who fight the enemy players. The gameplay pretty much fits the name. Almost every single combat role imaginable are played by real people and take place in realistic wargames. And it's magnificent. Don't believe it? Neither did I at first.

Now you might be wondering why I'm talking about this now. Well, the thing is, the developers have announced a two week free trial of all the modules for everyone. So, if you're a veteran like myself who wants to relive the experiences, or someone who likes simulators, try it out. It's free!

How much is the game and where can I get it because I must have it.

Everything is free right now for 2 weeks, and the core game is permanently free, but it only unlocks a couple of the vehicles and roles. Each extra module will cost you an extra 30 credits, or you can buy all the modules for $200.

Nice to see that Combined Arms is getting some publicity. Love this thing to death. Personally like the cruiser module myself (Loricas are the best ones in my opinion but I'll admit I'm biased).

Finally, one of these 'free games' that actually looks as good as the advertisement promises. (No, I have no personal invested interest in a military sim for career related reasons, what are you talking about.) You've got another free trial customer at least.

Well, I spend some good hours honing my skills and I'm acting as a air superiority fighter pilot on the Citadel server. If you see Sitoutumaton flying around there, that's me alright on your tail.

Good news everyone. There's going to be a game-wide event for double credit gains for all of tomorrow. All the big player factions are gearing up to take some major ground with all the new additions to their ranks with the trialees. I'll be around as an armored battalion leader in the Hierarchy veteran's fleet. We're currently in an alliance with a few other fleets, and let's just say we have some big plans in mind....

Although limited in its resources due to its "free" nature, the game promoted herein is of remarkable quality for its stature. Even so, I would recommend against the establishment of expectations; it is a mere distraction, nothing less.

Well, I may be a couple of days late to the thread, but I've been enjoying myself a little too much with this. You have no idea how fun it is just sneaking into an enemy base, killing a few of the poor sods that didn't leave yet, tagging a spot and then just wreaking havoc on the base until it's captured, or they manage to actually kill you.
