Max_the_Maverick Maverick!
Hey howdy hey Citizens!

Well, it's been a long three months, but the day finally arrived! Today I was officially sworn in as a member of the Citadel Assembly! So begins a (hopefully) long career as your faithful, ever dedicated, public servant! It's been a long time coming my friends, but thanks to you we can finally get started on putting this station back on the right track!

While I'm here, feel free to let me know what sort of changes you'd like to see happen that would better serve our district and our station. Just leave them here in this thread and I'll get back to you. How's that for representative democracy in action?

I look forward to what you have to say!

-Max

Thanks citizen! And to answer your question, there's a lot of things I'm working on already! But to narrow it down to at least one, I'm seeking assignments to the Assembly's committees on both the budget, and on security and defense. We need to completely re-organize our financial priorities to put this station back to work, and we also need to reform the Citadel Defense Forces to make sure we stay protected. That should be a priority in these uncertain times, where new threats are emerging and the the fleets of the Council races are taxed to the extreme.

Well, at least you're out of "Campaign mode" and you're actually stating your opinions now. (Which i agree with, CDF needs a budget increase and a tactics overhaul, considering they were bypassed by the enemy twice in 3 years.) Good luck with your endeavors. You'll need it in the Legislature.

Hi Mr Vallario, and congratulations.

My name's Michelle Rondor, head of the "Leaving The Duct" charity on lower Taseyri. We try to help duct rats integrate in society instead of becoming homeless or gangers. I hope we can develop with time some sort of working relationship!

I would ask if you have any plans for tackling the death grip gangs have on Taseyri since the war. I honestly don't feel safe, even less now that organized crime is getting more and more prevalent (the recent murder of that drug lady is a good example).

Re-organized how?

reformed how, and with what money? Everyone knows something needs to be done to these things, you don't have to be an expert, so yeah, some details on what exactly are you planning would be nice.

I liked Lor Tokoi better, he at least said what he wanted to do. Too bad he was wildly racist in his opinions...deport all the quarians vagrants to Rannoch and all.

I'm glad to hear you're focused on our defence, Mr. Vallario. The Citadel just doesn't feel secure these days, you know? On that topic...

There was a rumour in the private investigator's rumour mill thread about geth joining C-Sec. I'm guessing that's not true, but I wondered if there were plans to get the geth involved in station security, and how that would play out if there were? I mean, would everyone be okay with that? I guess what I'm asking is, how does the geth presence fit into this vision you have of a more defensive Citadel?

Phraag is not pronounced "frog". It's not funny. I'm serious.

Congratulations on your swearing-in. I know I'm quite far from being in your purview, but I have an understandable personal interest in asking - do you have any thoughts (or intentions) regarding the ongoing talks between Citadel authorities and the Sapphire Alliance regarding the full restoration of the old SA accords? There are still some problematic shortcomings in the postwar provisional legislation, and there seem to be a number of people in various positions who (regrettably) seem to regard prostitution as a problem that needs to be suppressed, rather than a business for whom proper governmental support will benefit everyone (apart from organised crime, of course).

Max_the_Maverick Maverick!
Well, we've certainly gotten a lot of feedback so far! I'm glad to see citizens are taking such a interest in the business of governing.

Issues of gang-violence and station security are among the top on my list. Ever since the end of the war, the Citadel has seen more and more gang-related violence as- unfortunately -more and more refugees are forced into a life of crime to care for provide for themselves and their families. We can't let our home be reduced to the status of a second Omega. I'm going to make efforts to empower C-SEC to better tackle this threat, while also sponsoring prospective programs to create new jobs for refugees and underprivileged citizens so they don't have to turn to crime to feed themselves.

When it comes to Geth joining C-SEC, I haven't heard anything along those lines. If such a proposal were to be brought up, I would have to consider it very carefully to determine whether it would imperil the already fragile security state of the Citadel. That being said, if the Geth can prove themselves to be peaceful and productive in their cooperation with Citadel Space, anything is possible in regards to them joining its institutions.

As for the SA accords, if there were any shortcomings in the legislation passed by the previous Assembly it doesn't surprise me. Myself and a whole group of freshmen assemblymen are already calling for laws passed since the end of the war to be reviewed for obvious holes and failures. I'm sure the SA accords will be one of the issues that will come up, and we'll treat it with the same due diligence and fairness that we plan on treating all bills.

Yeah, C-Sec should protect muggers from badass ex-cerberus, it's just unfair ;)
