I'm curious. Do any of you know anything about the asari dance style called Tasara? I saw some advertisements for some classes earlier and was intrigued enough to consider taking it since I love dancing and need something to help break the tedium of Citadel life.

Oh, seriously, go there, it's fun!

Tasara is not exactly a specific description though, it means a form of dance that is performed alone or in groups up to three (somehow three is often an important number in asari dances, in other cultures it's only pairs for obvious reasons). Depends what the school is offering you may get to dance with others or have something like a workout program. Like most of our dances it is a developed form of tribal, easy to learn basics, but can be developed through several grades if you're looking for comepetition.

Actually... I was browsing the net and discovered some time ago that quarians obviously have an interesting tradition with dancing. Nice. I know way too little about your people.

I was at a dinner party a few years ago where several of the guests were quite accomplished with the style. It's very impressive, though more advanced dancers tend to make use of biotics, which could be a problem for non-asari trying to learn.

Oh, I see. That does sound interesting, Taleeze.

Since it didn't mention biotics being a requirement I am going to assume it is just the basics which is good enough for me. Learning a new dance is fun and since it doubles as a workout I can cut a little time out of the gym.

Dancing has always been a large part of quarian culture. It is used to tell stories (Kisharia is a group dance that tells the epic of Kiera'Sali a tragic figure in quarian history) or for fun, like the Kiurn. Dancers themselves were also highly valued and the most talented ones were usually as celebrated as Holovision stars are. Since being able to do these really long and complex dances was a sign of status.

So yes, it was a large part of my people's culture.

I am certain you could learn the moves immediately should one throw a few credits your way.

Enjoy yourself! :) But bear in mind, Tasara's got a group of central-axis mini-jumps in it that can be a bit tricksy for quarians, due to the difference in leg joints. There are a lot of manuals around (most from a few centuries ago, pre-exodus) that demonstrate adaptations of those moves that'll fit in with the rest of the style nice and seamless, just make sure you're not working off an original asari manual without footnotes - if you keep winding up facing thirty degrees or so off where you ought to be in a routine, that's probably why.

I'll be sure to search around for one of those manuals then. Thank you. Are there any other moves that could cause problems for my species? I really don't want to look like an idiot during these classes.

Though either way, it will probably be more interesting then the turian dance I tried to learn a few years ago.
