Did you know that it is illegal to swim in the presidium?
Of course you did. All of you are the kind of people that would either live on the Citadel in fancy apartments or have some really odd knowledge about places you've never been.
I on the other hand, just spent new years day in jail, and explaining to my boss why I should keep my job. Luckily, the man accepted "Aliens made me do it."

So, as we all return to work, how was your holidays?

Don't swim somewhere unless other people are doing it people, and always bow down to peer pressure.

This one did indeed know that immersion in the Presidium's water is disallowed. Such is made explicit in all hanar-oriented promotional literature. Perhaps the other was not informed because humans are considered less likely to spontaneously do so? This one remembers the other leaving the New Year party in high spirits, having consumed a great deal of alcohol. Did this influence the other's decision to swim on the Presidium?

This one finds the practice of altering the mind through recreational toxins to be most interesting, and is eager for insight regarding the mental states that result!

...Maybe. I had a few drinks before arriving, sang some bad karoke, had more drinks, and left to dive into the presidium.
Don't drink and travel to places you don't know the laws of kids, especially if you work in law enforcement.

Man, that sounds like quite a night, it was sure worth it if you stood up someone in an incredibly rude way! How was the new year's kiss with the fishes?

They do wear rather festive hats though.

Well, the presidium lake is one of the largest water reserves on the Citadel, providing water for a large portion of the station. It supposes it can see why the thread starter would end up in jail for tainting it by swimming.

It will admit that more than once, it has had drunken co-workers do the same. Often hiding the fact they did and then causing a small stir once people came down with some allergic reactions or, in the one instance one of its drell co-workers swam in a similar dare, cases of mild hallucinations breaking out.

Surely you don't mean they don't filter the water after taking it from the open lakes!

I wish I could catch one of these magic fish. I'd wish that Pariah could become even more chipper and friendly. We'd be besties.

Filters are never one hundred percent efficient. There is usually some bacteria or contaminants left. Which is why there were mild cases of hallucinations and illnesses rather that something worse.

You know, I pretty sure they have turtles in there. They're these reptiles that move really slowly on land, have flippers, have a shell and are usually named after Renaissance artists.
Adorable little things. I think someone may have put them in there recently.
Or I'm imagining it.

They're actually Chelona, a group of aquatic herbivores native to Sur'kesh. Lovely animals, and quite friendly, though I'm unfamiliar with naming patterns.

I once nearly took a running dive into the Presidium lake, but in fairness it was an emergency situation.

I'm wondering, though - these magical talking fish, is it magical that they talk, or are they fish that can naturally talk, and also have unrelated magical talents or properties?
