Local Gang War Erupts
Omega News Conflict erupted on Omega today between the notorious Blood Pack group and a local gang called the Burned Men. The cause of the conflict is said to have been the death of Forl Darl, an accountant for the Blood Pack, along with his bodyguards. Quash Hurlong, a local commander for Blood Pack forces, has called for the “complete annihilation” of the gang. Jabr District has been quarantined as a result of the violence, largely due to its notoriety as the “home of the Burned Men.” Presslink News Aggregator: Collecting headlines from across the galaxy. The Burned Men? Seriously, they're still around? Thought for sure they got wiped out during the occupation.
Eh, not that it matters now. Even the redbacks should be able to handle a gang of small-timers...Though if they somehow manage to do screw this one up, I'll laugh, a lot. |

Eh, you know how it is. Gang gets wiped out, another one crops up with the same name. Probably nothing to do with the old bunch. |

Nah, this article only counts when we get like, five pages of impassioned and detailed posts that deviate from the topic. |

Shortly to be renamed "rubble", the Blood Pack have somewhat...unrefined concepts of acceptable collateral damage; in my opinion at least. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. -Niccolo Machiavelli |

Um... No it really ain't. It really ain't much different than before the war. Which isn't to say that constant gang wars on Omega were the normal state of affairs before the war either. The gangs ran their own little neighborhoods and things went smoothly, sure once in awhile some new guys on the block would turn up and carve out some territory or get curbstomped. But it wasn't a constant thing, and it rarely happened anywhere near big players like the Suns, Eclipse, or the Pack.Talonz wrote:Wow. Must be a really slow news day. Surprisingly not, Omega's a much quieter place since the end of the occupation than before the war. Omega wasn't ever dangerous because of gang warfare, it's never been common. Omega's dangerous because if you walk down the wrong alley you won't leave. It's dangerous because anyone can operate there if they want to and they don't piss off Aria. The gangs have every interest in keeping things stable in their territory, because if they don't people find another group to pay protection money to and if they stop paying you protection money that's the first step on the road out. The Big Three can afford it of course because they're the Big Three and they're huge. But everyone who's local can't afford it, because without protection money they can't do shit like pay their guys, do maintenance on their guns and shit like that. And people will pay protection money to anyone who keeps things stable, because one gang is pretty much the same as another and nobody cares who's in charge as long as they're not affected too much. So basically to sum it up. No this isn't the normal state of affairs on Omega. And no Omega isn't much different now than it was prewar, and with the Big Three retaking their old territory it's getting less different by the day. The only real difference is there's more money moving through the station. I know folks in C-Space, and the Hegemony, and such, like to think that Omega is just this perpetual warzone and everyone who lives here are either barbarians or just too poor and/or dumb to leave. But neither is accurate. Omega is not an unstable place, it's dangerous yes, but it's not a warzone. Self interest keeps it from sinking that far. |

Maybe I should make that extreme vacation there someday then. You make it sound oddly interesting.

Talonz, you're an idiot. Omega isn't a place for "vacations" unless you're either a psychopath, a bored rich man's son, or dumber than a bag of hammers. Keep your tackle in your pants. If you're looking for a real adventurous vacation, try a safari or an archeological dig. Thrill-seekers on Omega usually just end up dead or in chains.

I'm not damn stupid, batarian. It's a place I'd like to see with my own eyes, I wasn't planning on getting drunk by the hotel pool or going vorcha-hunting in the lower levels for "thrills". Hell, if I ever go there I'll be sure to bring along enough mates and armament to scare away the occasional mugger if that's what you're so afraid of.

And I'm sure you will do an excellent job painting an enormous target across your collective backs, (although personally I would recommend that you throw in a few holographic .gifs and some theme music, just to really get the point across). You'll be waiting a while.
