The Galaxy Weekly - Week 3 Year 2188
TGW - The finest news outlet in civilized space and beyond!

Hello, and welcome back to The Galaxy Weekly, where we will sate your thirst for knowledge, whether it is the latest news about The Star of Athame's crew or latest Dwick Dwickcast Syndykyt show lineup!

[CRIME] Mass murderer holds Nos Astra in terror!

Yet another body of an asari has turned up in Nos Astra, Illium. The body was this time of a matriarch who shall remain unnamed, and represents a new move for the murderer who up until now had confined themselves to maidens. This time the body was found mostly intact, left standing on a pedestal after rigour mortis had set in. Nos Astra law enforcement has stated they will catch the culprit but refused to comment further on the case, citing undergoing investigations.

The matriarch-aged asari marks the eleventh victim of the culprit that's kept the city's denizens on their toes. Authorities have urged people to avoid moving alone and stick to public, well-frequented venues while moving about the city.

Eclipse sisterhood chapters in Nos Astra have also announced they are going to look for the assailant, and "give that pulxu what's they're due".

[POLITICS] Joseo and Yuke federations disband tri-partite pact

Tangeal Expanse's stability has suffered yet another blow, as representatives of the Yuke and Joseoan federations left the tri-partite pact chambers with a storm, after threatening with resignations of both nations if the principality of Velka did not rescind their transit fees levied on other tri-partite pact vessels on the Future corridor.

Militaries of all three nations have been placed on high alert in the aftermath of the resignations, and many fear of military escalation on the frontiers of the three nations.

[PEOPLE] Mordin Solus School on Omega opened

A school catering to classes 1-9 of all species, bearing the name of salarian geneticist Mordin Solus who ran a clinic on the space station and later cured the genophage, was opened to great fanfare on Juni Arcology, Omega.

The school is staffed mostly by volunteers, but in addition it boasts a paid staff of 20 teachers. The Mordin Solus School gathered their funds through donations and charity drives to make Omega a better place to live, and they continue enjoying a small but steady donations flow from Tuchanka.

"Omega might be rough and tough, but this isn't a complete shithole as people on Citadel would like to believe. We live here, form families and raise kids just like they do, and the new school's going to help us tremendously in getting our youth educated." Karalok bin'Tavrov, local resident commented to our reporter.

Local Blue Suns chapter has been hired to guard the school premises from thugs and drug pushers, but critics allege they're going to use the opportunity to recruit kids as disposable auxiliaries for their operations.

Now the killer's also going for old ladies? That is so freaky. With so many people in town this week I feel pretty safe though, NAPD is a like everywhere now for the Cup match. But what afterwards? I don't care who gets him first, Eclipse or Police to be honest. where is a Justicar when you need one?

The Galaxy Weekly [CRIME] Gunfight in progress on Zakera ward, Citadel

This came just in; Unknown gunman has opened fire in a shopping district on Zakera ward!

Witnesses claim at least one man has been shot!

C-Sec response has not yet reached the scene!

Stay tuned for more reports!

Do you know something of the shootings? Are you on the scene or in vicinity of it? Tell us what you know

The Galaxy Weekly:

Coverage of an event that has barely begun (and may be removed depending on a new player’s reaction to OOC advisory) is both in poor taste and a clear violation of Rule #4 of the forums.

Consider this article removed.

If only... The Board's never signed off on legislature moves to open Illium to Justicar authority, if one did show up here they'd probably just harass her with regulations and make things worse.

Just have to hope the NAPD and Eclipse can resolve it. Hopefully without getting in each other's way, but they functioned well during the war, effective in pursuing their favoured strategies without stepping on toes.

While we're on mercenaries, let's hope the Blue Suns do a better job of fulfilling their guardianship obligations for this new school than they did with Ana's old apartment. :/

It is curious, however: Mr. "SkullCrusher" Krogan does seem to be particularly invested in solving this mystery. Perhaps he is merely in it for a paycheck, or, alternatively, has a personal investment?

Your over-simplication of motives is applicable on occasion, but not always necessitated. You estimate your peers on a far baser value than their true realization.

Nah I think I agree with Mandatory. SkullKrusher don't seem too bright.

On another note, nice to finally see a real school on Omega, here's hoping that works out.

I actually am quite bright, but I just like crushing skulls more than doing boring stuff.

For him, anything that doesn't consist of money or crushing skulls is boring.

I recommend you expand the character, no offense, but 'krogan with a thing for crushing skulls and money' just...isn't that interesting. Try looking around, see what concepts on the boards are cool, what characters are neat, maybe look at a couple of the Virtual Lounge guides to character making and give SkullKrusher more depth?

He currently comes off as an overly violent teen who really shouldn't be off the homeworld. You can do this with him, but I'd play up 'teen who shouldn't be off the homeworld' more than 'overly violent', mostly because 'overly violent' isn't actually a particularly interesting trait, long term. Give him other interests outside of killing people and making money.

What does he use that money on, for example.

Funny how everyone forgot how these utter paragons of virtue existed in the war.

Guys, relax, talk in character, and let him find his niche. You weren’t perfect when you came in here, either, so as long as he understands that violence and sarcasm are very common traits on a so-called “terrorist forum,” he’ll adapt.

On a side note, if you would like some help, just hit us up in the Virtual Lounge.

NAPD would probably discourage it (they don't like the extra documentation it takes to accomodate outside consultants), and I imagine Eclipse wouldn't be very friendly if approached either (not so much administration in their case, they just like to keep everything they do 'in house') - but if you have (or a potential employer could provide you with) the permits to pursue the case as a private investigator, there's not much they could do to stop you. You'd want to be pretty meticulous though, a couple of months ago the NAPD threw the tome at an investigator on the basis that she may have contaminated the results of an ongoing data-collection exercise, and word is they're still on the look-out for that sort of thing, just to hammer the point home to any would-be sleuths watching.

If it's just the skull crushing, probably not, for pretty much the same reasons as investigating: the police have their own procedures to follow, and if Eclipse wanted someone's skull crushed I'm sure they've got their own people to do it.

(I think technically it'd be a serial killer, rather than a mass murderer. I used to live on Omega - you pick up 'fascinating' bits of morbid trivia like that just from reading the gossip pages.)
