Works the same way it did on the old board. Rate the song posted, then post your own. Use whatever arcane rating system you prefer. Personally, gonna go with Roman numerals when the time comes, but I'm sure as hell not going to pull any of that XIII-2 shit.

...anyways...

Rate that song!

Clutch is pretty great, I haven't liked their more recent stuff though. 8 fingers out of ten hands. Whatever that means

Starts off a bit slow for my tastes and I'm not that fond of how instrumental it is vs. how much singing there is (singing is great btw), but when it actually does pick up it is pretty kickass.

3.5/5

I don't love it but I don't at all dislike it.

Is this oddly catchy for anybody else?

It's got an odd sort of beat to it but I like it. It does get a touch repetitive near the end.

And now for something completely different.

Never a big fan of that sort of rock song where it alters between quiet verses and loud choruses. Still quite liked her voice though. 6/10

Since my last post was ill received because apparently nobody like classical :(
Here's something a bit more contemporary. Ignore the pictures that accompany the music, the man makes good music but he's more than a bit odd.

It's overplayed on the radio here and I've gotten used to tuning it out, but sitting down and actually listening to it, it's not half bad. XVII.V/X

And for some variety...

Huh. I'll be honest the segue from the opening to the actual song caught me off guard. I was expecting something a lot different really.

A tad repetitive in patches but very catchy overall and I could honestly listen to it again another couple times (voice work is great).

八 out of 十

Not exactly upbeat but still one of my favorites.

Only recently got exposed to Macklemore after hearing Thrift Shop on the radio, always a fan of rappers who talk about things of substance. That was a bit slower than I prefer but it was still quite good. 8/10

Since we're on white rappers, here's a British one that I like. Don't be fooled by how cheerful it starts, it's actually quite bitter.

That was pretty good I guess. 7/10?

The combination of catchy and powerful guitars combined with dreamy melody that was in the Quasar earn a straight 20 moshes from me. I think I just discovered another new favourite for myself!

Pretty good! The beat's fairly regular, it creates a great sense of action too. 8/10

Now, for someone I know!

...I'm not sure what's supposed to be going on in the video, though.

Peaceful life and liking it that way.

First: Not my style, so I don't want to rate.

Second: Eh. 7/10, not quite as rich as I like.

Now here's a classic. Do note that it takes a bit to get into full swing.

i love you ! thank you for being alive
Daft Punk's Get Lucky is a good song, don't get me wrong, but it seems that the full version is much more a Pharrell Williams/Nile Rodgers track with some funky production by two French guys. The lyrics, while intentionally symbolic, seem a bit heavy handed in their eccentricity. I like listening to it, but it is not my favorite Daft Punk song. Still super excited for the album drop, of course. 7/10 for Get Lucky.

Here you go.

5/10 Not my kind of thing at all. Also, lyrics rub me the wrong way for some reason.

Yet another classic game theme, though this is for a remake that never got produced.

Instrument quality is pretty damn good, all things considered, but it’s a vamp on the same four chords over and over again. If the melody actually went somewhere instead of rehashing the same thing in slightly prettier terms over and over again, this wouldn’t be a problem - but that’s exactly what happens. Seriously, the Rebel Base Theme from Crusaders is more imaginative, and all it really does different is have a quick bass line for a one phrase.

6.5/10 – Not bad, just forgettable.

I’ve been trying to put Bandcamp through its paces, sifting through terabytes of same-y electronica and MLP/Homestuck fan music, and am pretty happy to say there are quite a few diamonds in the rough there. Take, for example, Hope and Social’s relentlessly happy Let’s be Bold.
