"Kraask! Get your ass moving, We have 3 more shuttles waiting to be worked on!" Kraask snapped out of his trance.
Today was too busy of a day to be screwing off. The Vorcha, despite being brilliant for his race, was only a mascot to his workplace. People brought their shuttles into "Lino and Kraask's repair" to see their shuttle get repaired by a Vorcha. Despite his name being in the company, he had no part ownership, he barely made enough credits for anything. Lately Kraask had been pondering his place in this galaxy. He had so much potential in so little of a life span to be playing puppet to Human ownership. He rolled his creeper out from under the shuttle, wiping the gunk off of his forehead. He instantly met the beady brown eyes of his Human boss Lino. The expression on Lino's face was that of disgust, "Clean yourself up and take a 15 minute break, I don't know whats gotten into you lately. You're starting to lollygag" Lino stormed out of the room towards the front. Kraask was silent. He was familiar by now with Lino's twisted Human vocabulary. What is a lollygag? he always thought to himself. By now he had given up on Human slang. Kraask took the messy rag and wiped his face, stood up, and walked out of the back door of the shop. He pulled a pack of cigarettes from the breast pocket of his work blouse. Nicotine doesn't really effect Vorcha, but the rest of his co-workers smoke, so Kraask merely did it to keep himself occupied to some extent during breaks. As Kraask was sitting in the back thinking, he heard a quarrel in the distance. He recognized one of the voices as his co-worker Jar'Veega, A Quarian who got the same sort of aggravating treatment at his shop. Kraask just called him Enviro because he was never good at pronouncing Quarian names. Kraask sat silent and listened as closely as he could. the second voice sounded muffled, as if that person were talking with a breather helmet on. The argument seemed to be taking place on the other side of a kiosk to the half right of Kraask. The noise of people talking amongst themselves on the busy walkway in front of Kraask were blocking his hearing of the fight. Lino and Kraask's Repair had a funny placement, The front of the shop was a big shuttle dock that hung over on an overlook of much of the ward, It was designed this way so customers could Land their shuttles in the front and leave from the back, which was smack dab in the middle of the shopping district of Zakera. basically the shop looked backwards upon first glance. Before Kraask could actually make out anything being said between Enviro and the unknown person, an array of gunfire caught the air like a piece of parchment would catch fire. Kraask stumbled off of his stool and watched as the people in Zakera scurried away like insects, screaming violently. "I'll show you cowards why you shouldn't mess with a Quarian engineer!" Kraask heard Enviro shout. By now, Kraask could see the men who approached his friend. They were easily recognizable as Osiris mercs, a Human group, known for their business in intimidation and bullying of the lesser liked races of the galaxy. Lino ran out of the back of his shop, Shotgun in hand, "If you bastards don't take that fighting somewhere else, I'l-" Kraask's boss was struck by a round in his left shoulder and crumpled to the floor. Lino looked up at Kraask and nudged the shotgun in his direction. "Well don't just sit there!" was all he could make out. Kraask grabbed the shotgun and dove into cover behind the kiosk, where Enviro was laying in the prone. "Whats going on?" Kraask asked, not expecting a response. Enviro struggled for enough breath to reply "My little sister is on her pilgrimage, and she owes these bastards money" Kraask was silent waiting for more information, He turned around the corner and blasted a shot at one of the mercs, who was covering behind the corner of his shop. Enviro continued, "They heard her mention my name, they approached me during my break demanding 15,000 credits" Enviro took two shots with his pistol, "I don't even barely make enough to eat, so i told them to eat my shit" "Hindsight that probably wasn't the best idea" Kraask replied "Lino says it all the time and it sounded good, it was the only thing i could think of" More gunfire erupted, This time from the farther down the walkway, the familiar sound of Avenger rifles indicated C-Sec had joined the fight. Kraask and Enviro continued to hold their ground, making sure they knew where civilians were hiding. "All we can do is hope we don't get charged for this" Kraask mentioned, as the fighting continued.
